Chapter 53 The Evil Cat Princess Who Bewitched the Kingdom 14

Chapter 53 The Evil Cat Princess Who Bewitched the Kingdom 14

Lu Wenjing should have caught the naughty cat and snatched the ball of yarn that belonged to him, but when he pretended to snatch it, the little stray cat acted as if its toy had been taken away, meowing fiercely at him, its round eyes glistening with tears, as if it was about to cry.

By the time Lu Wenjing came to his senses, he was already staring blankly as the bad-tempered cat bit through the thread without doing anything to stop it.

The kitten destroyed the ball of yarn but wasn't done playing with it, so it meowed at him, demanding that he hand over a new ball of yarn for the kitten to play with.

Without a second thought, Lu Wenjing waited for the invisible hand to draw the second line for him. He took a few steps in a pretentious manner, and just as he had been eagerly anticipating it, the little cat snatched away the new ball of yarn toy.

He followed closely behind, walking for a very long time.

"..." A sharp pain shot through his fingertips, and Lu Wenjing snapped back to reality.

Why did he think of so many nonsensical things just now?

He quickly put it out of his mind and looked down at the cat that was biting his fingertip.

"The imperial physician will be here soon," he reassured him.

Xie Rong slapped his hand away and buried his head, pulling out an ancient book bigger than a cat from somewhere.

The pages of this ancient book were already yellowed and missing in some places, but the little tabby cat was unusually serious. With a serious little cat face, it flicked its tail on the table and turned the page with its paw.

Mimi must find out exactly what the problem is.

Xie Rong's gaze fell on a line of words.

'The more...the angrier the person, the less...you should inhale. Never inhale just one...and then...'

Xie Rong suddenly realized.

Mimi can't just suckle Lu Wenjing's; she needs to suckle other people's too. Otherwise, her stomach won't be nutritionally balanced, and she'll naturally revert back to her old self!

It's all Lu Wenjing's fault. He actually wanted to monopolize Mimi and wouldn't let her eat other people's hearts.

Xie Rong licked his paws, and as he turned around, he lightly swept his tail, knocking the newly inlaid gold jade seal to the ground and shattering it into pieces.

Their eyes met, and Xie Rong pouted, "Meow."

Upon hearing the commotion, Eunuch Liu hurriedly entered from outside the palace, followed by the imperial physician.

Eunuch Liu was kneeling on the ground, engrossed in picking up the broken jade pieces, when Xie Rong jumped down from the imperial desk, tiptoed over to him, and lazily said, "Meow."

Eunuch Liu looked up, his eyes wide, "Oh my god, where have you been these past few days?"

For the past few days, Eunuch Liu had been preoccupied with the little cat that had disappeared. Ever since His Majesty bestowed the title of Imperial Concubine upon him and indulged in nightly revelry in the Hall of Mental Cultivation, he hadn't even bothered to look for the cat anymore, which Eunuch Liu had secretly complained about.

Sometimes, when he was alone on night watch outside the palace, he would unconsciously think of the little cat waking up in the middle of the night, jumping out of the palace, sitting beside him, yawning and stretching, and quietly gazing at the night sky over the palace with him, a eunuch.

Grandpa Liu wiped away his tears, "You've made our family so worried."

The palace is full of people and eyes. If such a little cat were to bump into some bad person, who knows what kind of bullying it would suffer, and it might even lose its life.

Xie Rong proudly raised her little head.

Mi's little brother worships Mi like this.

He walked around Eunuch Liu once.

"Alright, get ready and leave," Lu Wenjing said with an unfriendly expression, staring at Eunuch Liu with hostility in his eyes.

A eunuch, and he's got his eye on his cat?

"Imperial Physician Xu, take my cat's pulse."

Physician Xu reluctantly agreed.

Since His Majesty got a cat, the imperial physicians of the Imperial Hospital have been forced to become veterinarians for the past few months, and even their most treasured veterinary books have been dug out.

But His Majesty's cat has a very strange temper. It won't let them touch it, but it loves to meow and show off around them. Only when they beg for mercy will it raise its tail with satisfaction and extend a paw as if doing them a favor.

The cat's paw pads are pink, its nails are carefully trimmed, and its fur smells sweet.

Physician Xu pretended to take Xie Rong's pulse by placing his fingers on the cat's paw, while his other hand quietly pressed down on Xie Rong's belly.

"Meow." Xie Rong squinted, lay on his back with his four paws in the air, and his tail instinctively wrapped around the imperial physician's hand.

A cat that knows no bounds.

Lu Wenjing rose from the dragon throne with a sullen face, squatted down beside Xie Rong, tore his tail off from the imperial physician's hand, and wrapped it around his own.

Physician Xu wiped the sweat from his forehead, feeling somewhat breathless under the emperor's icy gaze.

If you didn't know better, you'd think he was rubbing the belly of a royal concubine, not a cat's!

"It's nothing serious, just a bit of bloating from overeating. Just massage it more often and don't feed too much, and it will be fine."

Lu Wenjing dismissed the imperial physician and picked up Xie Rong.

Perhaps because of the massage from the imperial physician, Xie Rong relaxed, exposed her belly and nestled in his arms, occasionally wagging her tail once or twice.

[The host is being unusually quiet; they're definitely up to no good!]

Xie Rong bit the system's head.

[Host, it hurts! I was wrong! You're good, I'm bad!]

...

Inside the Ministry of Justice prison.

Along with a group of veteran officials, Jiang Yebai, the Minister of Rites' most prized protégé, was also arrested.

He was still wearing his crimson official robes, his black gauze hat resting beside him, and a faint trace of blood was visible on his back.

The sound of light footsteps approached from afar. Jiang Yebai, who had been leaning against the wall with his eyes closed to rest, opened his eyes upon hearing the sound.

I reckon it's the jailers coming to take someone away for torture again.

In this Ministry of Justice prison, from the high-ranking officials who conduct interrogations to the lowly prison guards, everyone has a powerful backer.

Most of the veteran officials are proud and arrogant. They enjoyed decades of good life during the reign of the late emperor. Now that they have been punished by the emperor, some people will naturally try to make things difficult for them.

The footsteps stopped in front of Jiang Yebai's cell, and a soft, gentle voice reached Jiang Yebai's ears.

"Open the cell."

Jiang Yebai looked up.

Unlike their first meeting behind the artificial hill, this imperial concubine was now dressed in a red fox fur coat, her long, black hair casually tied up, exuding an indescribable aura of jewels. Standing outside the prison gate, even the rusty lock beside her reflected a blinding light.

The jailer took out his key and respectfully opened the cell for him.

Xie Rong stepped in and sat on the armchair brought by the jailer, followed by several palace servants.

"What brings Your Highness, the Imperial Concubine, to personally visit a convicted criminal who has been imprisoned?" Jiang Yebai's voice was hoarse.

"Are you hungry? I had someone bring you lunch," Xie Rong tapped the armrest.

The palace servants opened the food box and laid out three delicate side dishes and a bowl of steaming rice.

Xie Rong glanced at the bowl of rice and the man sitting in the corner, far away from the rice, seemingly indifferent.

He gently kicked the rice bowl, bringing it closer to the man. "Eat."

"If you waste food, I'm afraid everyone in the Ministry of Justice prison will go hungry tonight."

Jiang Yebai suddenly looked up and met his innocent, watery eyes.

What innocent person could a bewitching concubine who could seduce an emperor into neglecting state affairs?

Jiang Yebai, filled with grief and indignation, reached out to pick up the chopsticks on the ground, but Xie Rong stepped on his foot.

"I'll feed you," Xie Rong smiled at him, took the silver chopsticks from the palace servant, picked up a piece of rice, and forced it into Jiang Yebai's mouth.

Taking advantage of the moment when the other person swallowed, Xie Rong leaned closer and smelled Jiang Yebai's scent.

It has a very appealing, luxurious feel; the inside must be incredibly delicious.

Judging from his appearance, he is destined to become a powerful minister with a promising future, only slightly inferior to Lu Wenjing.
