☆, End, or Beginning

Just as Ye Xi finished speaking, another loud "boom" resounded. The tremor, even more violent than before, was so close to the infirmary that Ye Xi, already weakened, collapsed to the ground. "Damn it..." Ye Xi gritted her teeth, rubbing her ringing ears, and cursed under her breath. "Has that guy gotten addicted to playing with gunpowder?!"

Ye Xi took a deep breath, trying to ignore her dizzy head, and stood up, leaning against the wall. She had to get out of here quickly, because from the moment the first explosion rang out, regardless of whether she was involved or not, she couldn't escape responsibility. Besides, this was a matter closely related to her. This was the second time; those higher-ups must be itching to tear her apart now. "Are you going to stop me, Nikolai?"

She looked up at her friend in front of her. Although the expression on his face made Ye Xi unable to maintain her indifferent expression and look away, she did not intend to back down. She placed one hand on the Miao sword, looked at the bed sheet, and kept praying to the non-existent God in her heart, hoping that she would not really take that irreversible step.

"Ye Xi, do you think you can beat me now?" Nikolai looked at Ye Xi, who was standing firmly in front of him despite her dizziness. He was not surprised to see her body trembling slightly. He knew what she was afraid of, just as he was worried. Once upon a time, this stubborn and difficult "little princess" who had saved him was his good partner as a "coachman".

So, Nikolai took a deep breath and said slowly, "Please convince me, Ye Xi, I can help you, but I cannot go against my conscience and ignore the lives of nearly five hundred people here."

Ye Xi opened her mouth, then closed it again. Regardless, she truly intended to disregard the lives of everyone else here for her own sake, which inherently contradicted Nikolai's bottom line—she cared more about herself than others. Therefore, she had no idea how to persuade him, and for a moment, the room fell silent.

"Can't I even make up some excuse? You used to be so eloquent..." Nikolai said with a wry smile, "Although you said before that staying in this base isn't a long-term solution, look at the outside world. Faced with all that, humanity needs a utopia, doesn't it?"

“I do know that there’s no good in staying underground, and Carlos and Alice both know that, but we also acknowledge that it’s not a bad thing. People need something to rely on, Ye Xi. You can’t think about things too rationally, and neither can Wesker, who’s plotting something and causing chaos.”

...Actually, Ye Xi really wanted to tell Nikolai that destroying this place was not her plan. Her purpose was only to help Wesker obtain the final formula. What Wesker was doing now was not what she truly hoped for. She had no idea what grudge Wesker had against this place. Was it just because the existence of this base was hindering the emergence of the so-called new humans? No, that was too...childish.

However, time did not allow Ye Xi to explain anything. She had underestimated the efficiency of the higher-ups here. Within a minute or two of her conversation with Nikolai, a group of fully armed men suddenly rushed into the medical room where Ye Xi was. The leader was a short man she did not recognize, dressed in a suit and tie, who looked to be of high status.

Ye Xi gave a wry smile, panting heavily. She hadn't expected her influence to be so great, attracting even the so-called high-ranking officials of the base. "This is the second time already, Miss Ye Xi. I've known for a long time that you, this mother beast who feeds on that monster's blood, are untrustworthy, but those idiots just won't listen."

"Sir, watch your words!" Nikolai frowned, somewhat perplexed, upon hearing the man's rude remarks.

“Watch your words, soldier!” The man glared at Nikolai. “Don’t forget who put you here safely and protected you. Now, soldier, you’re standing with this beast. Are you involved in this too?” He spoke harshly, as if these fully armed men would arrest them both if Nikolai hesitated even slightly.

"Go back, Nikolai. Self-preservation is what you should do." Ye Xi gave Nikolai a look; she believed he understood, because he had already silently taken a few steps back into the group. "Alright, sir," Ye Xi said, fighting off the dizziness and trying to control her tone to appear less distressed, "since you know that this 'beast' of mine feeds on zombie blood, then you should also know that with my abilities, you fragile humans can't stop me with these guns and ammunition."

"So it wasn't just that monster; those hungry zombies were on your food list too. How disgusting." The man smiled maliciously, his eyes full of contempt. He picked up the plan in his hand and shook it at Ye Xi. "But so what? You slept for a day, which gave us plenty of time to do some simple, undetectable research. So what if you have some friends here?"

"I know your current physical condition very clearly. Otherwise, why do you think I only brought these five people? I'm extremely busy right now. That monster's whereabouts are unknown, but I know you've been his guinea pig for so long. I wonder if he'll sympathize with your current situation?"

Ye Xi was slightly taken aback, not because of her impending hostage situation, but because of the man's first words—"So it wasn't just that monster." What...what did that mean? That monster must be Wesker, but when...did I eat Wesker? Ye Xi's memory became chaotic for a moment. She seemed to recall some blank memories, yet she also seemed to remember nothing at all, which made her already somewhat muddled mind even more uncomfortable.

"Don't think about it anymore, Ye Xi. What you should be doing now is figuring out how to escape." Ye Xi stared coldly at the man who was smiling smugly. He didn't seem to be in a hurry to catch her. Instead, he hoped that she would struggle so that he could show his self-satisfaction as the predator and the hero who saved the base.

"Hmph, whether in novels or movies and TV series, most villains die because of their arrogance." Ye Xi snorted coldly, glancing at the open window behind her. She couldn't quite figure out Wesker's attitude towards her; in other words, she didn't quite believe Wesker cared about her. So, rather than becoming a hostage, being discarded like trash, and dying in a humiliating way, it would be better to just jump down—it would be more dignified. That Wesker guy really hated being threatened.

As for the last formula, Ye Xi always felt that it wasn't just prepared for her. Wesker was a hidden scientific fanatic, so it must have other uses for him.

So, Ye Xi, is it really okay to be so insecure? Also, where did you forget about that indirect confession from someone?

So… she still wanted to see just how much Wesker cared about her. He gave her a weapon, but she couldn't escape, ending up in a situation where she either had to jump out the window or become a hostage destined to die. Ye Xi was certain Wesker was nearby… This infirmary was at least on the sixth floor; jumping would be certain death for her small frame. If she died, she could just consider it bad luck, bad fortune with no bottom line. At least she'd struggled in this world for so long and even managed to earn some achievements; maybe she could even travel back in time after dying?

Thinking optimistically, Ye Xi curled her lips and said to the charlatan Nicholas, "Hey, coachman, tell your knight and queen to keep living. You're right, people need something to hold onto in life, and as far as I'm concerned, those zombies won't last long, maybe ten or eight years, they'll just disappear on their own. Earth's Gaia consciousness will give birth to a new civilization."

Then, she looked at the officer and said, "As for you, shorty, go to hell with your soldiers." Ye Xi gave him a very uncouth slap, then suddenly turned around and ran to the window. Before they could react, she leaned back and fell face-up.

Ye Xi felt her vision slowing down like a melodramatic soap opera, then fast-forwarding through her life like a revolving lantern. "Okay, I'm dying," Ye Xi thought. She hadn't expected that facing this moment, besides a little regret and self-deprecation, she felt nothing else. "Okay, if I could go back, I'd hurry. I still have my graduation thesis to write, and I also want to talk to my roommates about this unrequited love..."

But my nose still feels so sore...

This seemingly long feeling actually lasted only a moment. The instant Ye Xi closed her eyes and waited for her to touch the ground, she felt herself fall into a familiar embrace—she was caught in a horizontal embrace! Just like the time she entered the base!

"What's wrong with you?" Wesker frowned and said coldly, seemingly very unhappy that Ye Xi had suddenly threatened to jump off the building, but he froze on the spot because of the sudden hug. Ye Xi hugged his neck, tears streaming down her face. "I knew it! I knew it!" she stammered.

Wesker stiffened, glanced at the soldiers who immediately surrounded him, and slowly put Ye Xi down. He gently patted the back of the person who was crying uncontrollably and clinging to him, saying, "Stop fooling around, Ye Xi. It's time to get down to business."

"Hmm...hiccup?" Ye Xi raised her head and couldn't help but sob. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her neck—Wesker had injected the liquid mixed with the final formula into her body!

She suddenly felt a familiar nausea. She had felt this every time she was hurt by a zombie when she first transmigrated here, but this time it was stronger than ever before. It was so strong that she felt weak all over. If Wesker hadn't caught her waist in time, she would have collapsed to the ground.

The discomfort made Ye Xi almost lose her sense of direction. In her blurry vision, she seemed to see Wesker take off his sunglasses, revealing his bloodshot, gleaming eyes. Then he hoisted her onto his shoulder. Out of the corner of her eye, Ye Xi saw that his other arm seemed to have changed, and his body seemed to have become stronger, causing his clothes to rip... But she really didn't care about anything else. The nausea made her want to vomit, but she couldn't. At the same time, she was also experiencing dizziness and unbearable itching, which tormented her to the point that she wanted to pass out.

Wesker beneath her moved, accompanied by a faint, fishy stench. He moved quickly, making Ye Xi's already blurry vision even more difficult to see. Wesker seemed to be dealing with those people, or perhaps toying with them; Ye Xi wasn't sure. Riding on his back was more thrilling than a roller coaster ride, almost like murder.

Then, a flash of light appeared before his eyes. Wesker seemed to have blasted open the roof to reach the ground, his route incredibly precise, leading him directly to the amphibious aircraft. He roughly tossed the half-dead Ye Xi to the side, then immediately piloted the plane into the sky…

After an unknown amount of time, Ye Xi finally came to her senses from the torment. She looked around in a daze, then suddenly remembered something and looked to her side, only to see a scene she couldn't believe—Wesker was lying unconscious on the ground, shirtless! And his skin sometimes turned reddish-black, and sometimes returned to its original state!

What's going on?! Ye Xi stared wide-eyed at Wesker, whose chest was heaving and whose brows were furrowed. She froze, kneeling before him, unsure what to do. CPR? Wait, he seems to be breathing… There's nothing around her, how can she check what's wrong with him?!

Wait a minute, a thought flashed through Ye Xi's mind. If the Progenitor Virus truly resided within Wesker, given its domineering nature, controlling the host and turning Wesker into its slave was only a matter of time—Alex was a prime example. Wesker was an even more stubborn individual; he certainly didn't want to be controlled by a mere virus, so he had been forcefully suppressing its toxicity, only managing to alter its appearance in his eyes… Could it be that he could no longer suppress it?

Wait a minute, if that's really the case... A pair of deep blue eyes suddenly appeared in Ye Xi's mind—if his eyes were originally blue, then why could Wesker's eyes turn back to blue? When he was still An'er, Ye Xi could guess that it was a one-time eye color changing potion. She had seen such a thing in Wesker's base, but what happened after that? He wouldn't be changing his eye color for fun, would he?

Ye Xi stared at Wesker's slightly pained face and suddenly remembered what the officer had said earlier... She paused for a moment, trying to grasp the fragments that flashed through her mind, and a terrible conjecture emerged—if it was true that the O virus in her body had temporarily suppressed the Progenitor Virus for him, while also enhancing his abilities... then what she said about him using her for experiments was a misunderstanding!

Ye Xi knew that in the battle between the O virus and the progenitor virus, the O virus had always been at a disadvantage. Therefore, it could only temporarily help Wesker suppress the progenitor virus. However, if Wesker used the powerful force given to him by the progenitor virus too frequently... he would lose control!

This bastard got misunderstood and didn't even explain... wait, if he did explain, he wouldn't be Albert Wesker! So, in the end, is it all her fault that Wesker ended up like this? Did she disrupt Wesker's plans at the base, forcing him to choose an alternative: sending her out directly? If she had chosen to become a hostage, or successfully escaped, would things be different now?

Ye Xi stared at his neck. The O virus and the progenitor virus in her body should have fused by now, so... well, she might as well try anything. Ye Xi gritted her teeth, closed her eyes, and leaned down to bite down. The warm, sweet-smelling liquid flowed into her mouth, and that familiar yet strange impulse made her body tremble. Involuntarily, she swallowed the liquid.

Is this okay? Ye Xi tried swallowing a couple of times, and for some reason, it tasted pretty good... Wait, something's not right. She immediately let go of Wesker and tried to get away from him, but a hand suddenly appeared on her waist, causing her to lose her balance and fall back onto Wesker. Then, a hand appeared on the back of her head, and before she could react, she was forced to kiss his lips...

That doesn't quite make sense either!

Ye Xi stared wide-eyed at those scarlet eyes. This recovery speed was too fast! I suffered for so long before waking up! Wait, that's not the point! Ye Xi was somewhat dazed as Wesker licked every inch of her mouth, his tongue entangling and invading her until there was no more blood in her mouth before releasing her. Only then did she realize what the point was—"You you you…what are you doing!" Ye Xi jumped back into the chair, glaring defensively at the man who slowly got up from the floor.

Wesker ignored Ye Xi's sudden bluster and got back into the driver's seat. Seeing Wesker like this, and remembering all his past actions towards her, she had a sudden thought, and blurted out, "...So I wasn't just having a one-sided crush after all..."

"..."

"...Wait a minute! Wesker, why are you suddenly accelerating?! This could cause a car accident, not a plane crash! Wait a minute!..."

End of main text.

Author's Note: Use your imagination to figure out what happens at the end (picks nose). The main story is finished, and there are also side stories and stuff. I have to bring Jack out eventually. Yesterday, I was ambushed in various attacks and defenses, accidentally got separated from my group and was ganged up on. I even lost overtime during the battle. Am I really that ugly? I feel tired and don't love it anymore, sob sob. I need some comfort. _(:3」L)_
