☆ Escape, leading to a trap
Ye Xi woke up with a start, staring wide-eyed at the light above her head. The white light stung her eyes, but she didn't want to close them at all. Only in this way could she feel that she was still alive in this world, and only then could she have a real feeling of pain that went to her bones.
Yes, it felt real. Ye Xi had a dream. She dreamt that after she died, she returned to her university dorm room, back to her computer desk. She looked up and was hit on the back of the head by her best friend's pillow, but it didn't hurt at all—no, she felt nothing. She watched her best friend's mouth open and close in a daze, but forgot what they were saying. She drifted through each day in a daze, leaving no trace of her existence. This unreality terrified Ye Xi, but she was helpless.
Finally, she woke up. Although she didn't know why she was awake now, at least she didn't have to live like a walking corpse anymore. Ye Xi sat up, but as soon as she moved, her whole body ached terribly. She couldn't help but cry out, but immediately covered her mouth—here… Ye Xi stared wide-eyed at her surroundings and immediately confirmed that this was a laboratory, and if she wasn't mistaken, this was probably Umbrella's damn laboratory!
Ye Xi looked down at her naked body, a sense of humiliation spreading throughout her. She abruptly pulled out all the IVs, anger and fear overwhelming the pain. Clutching the sheets, she jumped off the bed, but her legs gave way, and she collapsed to her knees. The cold marble floor slammed against her icy body with a loud thud. Ye Xi froze instantly. She looked up warily, her gaze suddenly falling on a glass wall—the kind used in police interrogations, where one could see in from the outside but not out from the inside.
Oh no! Ye Xi, who had no idea whether anyone was guarding outside, quickly got up from the ground and ran to the door next to the glass wall. She rammed the door with her shoulder, but the door was not locked. Ye Xi lost control of her strength and fell to the ground again... Ye Xi cautiously raised her eyes and looked at the monitoring console. A fat man in a police uniform was sitting on the chair in front of the monitoring console. He was sleeping soundly with one hand supporting his head and the other hand on the console.
Seeing that he hadn't been awakened, Ye Xi breathed a sigh of relief, then quietly got up, tiptoed to the shelf behind the door, took a white researcher's robe and put it on, then moved behind the door, pressed her ear against it and listened to the sounds outside. It was completely quiet outside, not even a footstep.
A perfect opportunity! With her foresight, Ye Xi tried turning the doorknob, and it actually turned! Overjoyed, Ye Xi opened the door without thinking twice. Just as she stepped barefoot onto the marble floor of the corridor, a piercing alarm blared. "Damn it, this is a setup!" Ye Xi glanced at the monitor above her head and immediately started running in one direction.
"Warning! Warning! Subject 01 has escaped the lab and is fleeing towards Sector D4-2." A mechanical voice followed the alarm. Ye Xi glared at the numerous monitors along the corridor, then slammed on the brakes at the T-junction ahead. Despite the continued alarm, Ye Xi calmed down after the initial panic. She peeked out from behind the wall and looked down the corridor to her left, immediately spotting the monitors turning in all directions. The same was true for her right. Ye Xi glanced at the monitor behind her, which was intently watching her. No matter which direction she chose, the alarm would sound…
Damn it! Ye Xi gritted her teeth, watched the monitor in the left corridor turn around, and immediately fled to the left corridor. At the same time, the machine's voice sounded: "Alarm! Alarm! Target is heading towards D4-1!"
After the sound rang out, the monitor that had been turned to the other end of the corridor immediately turned back to continue capturing Ye Xi. However, Ye Xi was so fast that she ran past like a gust of wind as soon as the monitor turned around, causing the operator behind the monitor to scramble to turn the monitor back. As a result... she disappeared! Ye Xi vanished at another fork in the road.
Perhaps the dust was in a good mood and wanted to let Ye Xi go, so when Ye Xi turned right, the surveillance camera also turned around, and she saw a door on this path! Ye Xi quickly pressed herself against the wall and followed the speed of the surveillance camera. When it turned to the end and was about to turn back, Ye Xi quickly moved directly under the surveillance camera, pressed her body even closer to the wall, and nervously looked at the surveillance camera above her head. After seeing that it did not detect anything unusual, she immediately slipped into the door in front of her.
"God help me, this door isn't locked!" Ye Xi exclaimed in delight as she closed the door. The inside was pitch black, and she had no idea what it was used for. Before Ye Xi could even catch her breath, she heard a chaotic chorus of footsteps outside. She quickly covered her mouth and hid by the door. Just as she crouched down, the door was opened, and Ye Xi was completely hidden from view.
"Hey, what are you looking at?" A man's voice rang out from outside the door, presumably addressed to the person who had opened the door and was standing by it. Wait, Ye Xi frowned. That's Japanese?! Could this be Japan? Wait a minute, she understands Japanese too? Was this body a language genius in the past? Ye Xi searched her memories and discovered that this girl, besides her native Chinese and English, also knew Japanese and Korean…
"I was just thinking..."
"Hey, stop thinking about it. Wasn't the door locked just now? She can't open it without the access card." The person outside interrupted the person at the door, their tone somewhat impatient.
"That's true..." the man said as he closed the door.
"Phew..." Ye Xi lowered her hand, panting heavily. She was truly terrified. If that person had taken a few more steps forward and turned on the light, they might have grabbed her. But what about that person saying the "door was locked"... how could that be?
Ye Xi finally realized that something was amiss. This was Umbrella Corporation, and Ye Xi was the experimental subject 01 they had mentioned! How could the security system be so poor, and the surveillance cameras were so easy to bypass, so simple that even someone like her with average thinking could get past them!
Thinking this, Ye Xi's heart immediately leaped into her throat—she didn't believe it was a coincidence, much less that Chen Hui, that fake mother, would let her go so easily. This was absolutely... absolutely someone had deliberately lured her out, even deliberately lured her into this room!
Ye Xi immediately stood up. Having already adjusted to the darkness, Ye Xi could clearly see that the room was a storage room. The space was rather small; after placing three shelves, there was only enough room for two people to move around...
Two people! Sensing something was wrong, Ye Xi immediately turned the doorknob, only to find that the door couldn't be opened at all!
"So you finally figured it out, Ye Xi." A cold, deep voice slowly sounded behind Ye Xi. Ye Xi was startled and was about to turn around when her hands were suddenly restrained from behind. In a moment of distraction, she was slammed to the ground by that person.
Ye Xi, stung by the blow, struggled to break free, but the hand pressing down on her back remained as immovable as a mountain. "You bastard... let go!" Ye Xi roared angrily, but the man didn't get angry. He simply leaned down and whispered in Ye Xi's ear, "I thought you were trying to escape. With all that noise, aren't you afraid of attracting those people from earlier?"
Ye Xi stiffened, her struggles lessened, and her still loud voice carried a hint of weakness: "So what?! Let them come over and catch you, the spy!"
The man fell silent, but Ye Xi didn't think it was fear. Someone who could lure her here so stealthily couldn't be easily bullied; how could he be so easily frightened? Despite thinking this, Ye Xi still stubbornly retorted, "What? Scared already? Let me go!"
"Do you think those people will treat me like a spy?" The deep, dangerous voice rang out again. The support behind her loosened, and Ye Xi, ignoring the soreness in her wrists, immediately scrambled to her feet and turned around. Just as she was about to continue her harsh words, her eyes widened in surprise: "Wesker? Albert Wesker!" As soon as the words left her mouth, Ye Xi immediately covered her mouth, her body trembling slightly as she stepped back—oh no, she'd fallen into a trap!
“You do know me.” In the darkness, Wesker’s poker face looked even more eerie and dangerous. He approached Ye Xi step by step, and with each step, Ye Xi took a step back, until he forced Ye Xi against the shelf before he stopped. “How do you, with a security level of F, know me? I have no recollection of it.”
"Damn it, Ye Xi, of all things to do, you had to say his name!" Ye Xi gripped the shelf behind her, trying to find some weapons, but she couldn't touch anything. Instead, her body trembled more and more violently. Ye Xi was terrified, terrified to death. Facing this powerful, influential, and intelligent final boss of the biohazard crisis, that strong, dangerous, cool, and incredibly attractive man, the man who had made her swoon over Chris while she was with the enemy Wesker countless times, yet still drooled over the computer screen—how could Ye Xi not be afraid?
“No excuse? That surprises me a little.” Wesker suddenly grabbed Ye Xi’s neck, then slowly tightened his grip. Watching Ye Xi instinctively pull his hand, a slight smile appeared on Wesker’s stiff lips. “You’re so scared, it seems you really do know something about me.”
Seeing Ye Xi's eyes grow increasingly terrified, to the point where she no longer had the slightest thought of resistance, Wesker abruptly released his grip, and Ye Xi collapsed to the ground. Wesker squatted down, grabbed Ye Xi's hair, and roughly lifted her up. In the blink of an eye, he pressed Ye Xi's head down and slammed her back to the ground. Ye Xi had long since lost all strength from Wesker's throws and pinches, and coupled with her fear, she had no way to resist, and could only lie stiffly on the ground.
"You really think you became like this because of the T-virus? You think it's as simple as just an interview before you can get into Umbrella? You really think... you only have this one virus in your body?!" Wesker grabbed Ye Xi's hair with one hand, while his other hand was doing something else.
Hearing this, Ye Xi, who was feeling somewhat dazed, was startled and began to struggle again, but this time she knew to control her voice: "What do you mean by that? Could it be... that Umbrella has invented some virus again and is using me as a test subject?!"
"You? Don't dream about it." Wesker's tone was laced with sarcasm. "You, the researcher, you were the one who willingly drank the virus. Those idiots at Umbrella are so naive; they still think it was the T-virus that made you like this. But how could their stupid brains possibly conceive of another virus?"
"What are you talking about?!" Ye Xi roared, struggling more and more, but still unable to do anything to Nevesker.
"Do I need to remind you?" Wesker's voice was somewhat unclear, as if he had something in his mouth, but Ye Xi, lying on the ground, couldn't see what he was doing at all. With a "snap," Ye Xi coldly stared at the plastic cap that had fallen to the ground—it was... the cap on the needle tip! "What... what do you want to do?!" Ye Xi cried out in terror, her voice trembling and unable to find its tone.
"Remember that website of yours that was shut down because of the virus?" Wesker whispered in Ye Xi's ear, while simultaneously thrusting a thick syringe deep into Ye Xi's spine with his other hand.
"Ah..." Ye Xi cried out in pain, but she bit her fist tightly. Wesker had led her here, and Umbrella certainly didn't know. If she screamed and attracted others, Wesker would definitely kill her on the grounds of resistance and hand her over to Umbrella's men. Given Wesker's status, Umbrella would definitely not say anything, and Wesker would still get what he wanted—spinal cord!
"Your achievements are in your spinal cord..." In a daze, Ye Xi seemed to hear Wesker's voice again. Everything was under his control, which was terrifying, but that wasn't the most terrifying thing. Knowing this, yet unable and unwilling to resist, was the most terrifying thing. Only Wesker could manipulate things so skillfully.
The procedure of extracting spinal cord without anesthesia was extremely painful; it felt like her heart was being ripped out. Ye Xi clenched her fists, trying to distract herself, her mouth filled with the taste of blood, but she still couldn't escape the pain in her spine.
It felt like an eternity. Just when Ye Xi, her eyes blurred with tears, almost thought she was dead, Wesker finally pulled out the syringe. But by then, Ye Xi had no strength left to resist or even attack him.
"The game has officially begun, Ye Xi." Wesker slowly took something from the shelf beside him. "50 ml of concentrated T-virus. Compared to 500 ml of regular T-virus, this will allow you to showcase yourself more effectively..."
Author's Note: Holy crap, even Word documents are acting all high and mighty! What are you trying to do?! Don't be surprised, Uncle Will has a scheme... As for the issue of Uncle Will being the male lead... this story isn't primarily about romance, so you can treat it as a no-CP story... or have separate endings↑ Don't take it seriously OJZ By the way, what's so annoying about Uncle Will? (← If you're a villain lover, go ahead and do it!) Judging from this chapter, I haven't tortured the female lead (righteous face). Looking at the next chapter, it will involve the escalation of the Resident Evil crisis. Those who haven't read it can check it out. Besides the normal CP, I still prefer Leon and Claire (facepalm). So, please support me and leave comments!
