Chapter 97: Employment

Chapter 97: Employment

The military headquarters was always a dull and boring place. In the early morning, you could hear the sound of new soldiers running on the training ground, which often marked the beginning of a new day's work. On this day, the office was obviously unusually restless. The female insect sitting in front of the computer kept stretching her neck to look outside and whispered:

"Hey, I heard that a new colleague is coming today, is it true?"

"Of course it's true, and it's a male insect. You didn't go to the interview yesterday. That gentleman was so handsome! Even more handsome than Mr. Yun!"

"Come on, even if Mr. Yun is more handsome, his personality is definitely not as gentle and considerate as his..."

"cough!"

Just as the office was buzzing with discussions, a familiar cough was heard at the door, and Director Peddie walked in with a male insect he had never seen before. Under the languid summer sun, his features became more distinct in the light and shadow, his dark eyes were slightly raised, his pupils concealed a smile, giving him a gentle yet unapproachable look.

There was a moment of silence in the air, and the female insects' eyes flashed with surprise. Their minds instantly became active, but they did not show it on their faces.

Director Peddie knocked on the door and said, "This is Ms. Amber. She will be working with you in the coming days. Please take good care of her and help her."

Amber also nodded slightly: "Please give me your guidance in the future."

Working in the military is a lucrative job. Although the salary during the internship is low, the benefits after becoming a regular employee are quite generous, and you can also make a lot of "connections", which are invisible resources for the future. The entire civilian area is divided into more than a dozen departments, large and small, and each department has one or two male insects. They can be recruited because they are either capable or have a strong background. In short, they cannot be offended.

On Amber's first day at work, the best workstation in the office was given to him. Not only that, his colleagues gathered around him and asked about his well-being:

"Mr. Amber, the working hours are too boring. I have some snacks here. If you are hungry, you can ask me for them."

"Mr. Amber, the printer broke down two days ago, so we have to go to the copy room downstairs. If you don't know the way, I can take you there."

"Mr. Amber..."

"Mr. Amber..."

As soon as Fang Yun stepped into the office, he saw that there were no insects at other workstations. All of them were gathered in three layers inside and three layers outside the window. Sitting in the innermost was a male insect with an unfamiliar face. He had black hair and black eyes, and there was always a faint smile on the corners of his mouth. He politely thanked his colleagues for their invitation and help, and even the curvature of his face never changed.

Looks... a little fake?

Fang Yun had this somewhat malicious thought in his mind for no reason. Just as he was lost in thought, someone noticed his presence and called out, "Hey, Mr. Fang Yun, you're here too!"

Fang Yun adjusted his expression subconsciously upon hearing this, and walked over with a smile: "Sorry, I feel a little uncomfortable today, so I took sick leave this morning. This is..."

His questioning eyes fell on Amber, who stood up at the right time and took the initiative to introduce herself: "Hello, just call me Amber."

Although he was smiling, his voice was cold and he seemed to have no intention of shaking hands.

Fang Yun forced a smile. He looked very cheerful and sunny. He regained his normal tone in a short moment, hiding the inexplicable hostility very well: "Hello, are you a new colleague? My name is Fang Yun."

The colleague next to him looked at him, then looked at Amber, and suddenly said in surprise: "Mr. Fang Yun, you and Ms. Amber both have black hair and black eyes. Could it be that you are relatives from the same place?!"

Fang Yun jokingly denied, "How is that possible? Lord Amber is a noble who almost married Major General Ludwig. I am just a little orphan. How could I be so lucky as to be his relative?"

Amber pretended not to sense the sharpness in his words and said with interest: "Mr. Fang Yun, there is no need to speak too early. Maybe we are really relatives who have been separated for many years."

But in terms of age, Amber might be his ancestor.

Today is my first day at work. Except for the male insect named Fang Yun who is a little unfriendly, most of my colleagues are nice. When Amber was sitting in front of the computer getting familiar with her work, a lazy male insect suddenly sat down next to her. He looked like a playboy. "Hey, hello, my name is Fogg."

He emphasized without leaving any trace: "Fogé Lanyi."

Amber paused her keyboard tapping hand and tilted her head to look at him: "You are Ludwig's..."

Foger shrugged: "Cousin."

Amber understood, and stretched out her hand and said, "Hello, Amber."

Fogg shook his hand and said, "I won't say anything else. If you need any help, just come to me. I don't know what will happen between you and Ludwig in the future, but our relationship is closer than that of some strangers."

As he spoke, he deliberately glanced at Fang Yun beside him, sneered, and looked very disdainful.

Amber had been paying attention to Fang Yun, and asked, "Why, you don't have a good relationship with him?"

Bored, Fogg turned on his laptop: "It's not bad, it's terrible. The things I hate most in my life are pretentious and nosy bugs. He is all of them."

It is said that Fang Yun is a male insect brought back by a rescue team from an interstellar pirate robbery. Because he was injured and lost all his memories, he didn't even know his last name or where he lived. The military reissued a star citizen certificate for him according to the procedures, applied for social welfare benefits, and arranged a job for him.

"He is just like a big fool. He talks about gender equality every day. He thinks he is a hero who fights for justice. He has fascinated all the females in the office. Even Major Kevin is fond of him."

It is obvious that Foger is a second-generation rich man who relies on his family background to make a living in the military. He doesn't have any other hobbies except teasing young female insects. Fang Yun caught Foger teasing a colleague on his first day and beat him up directly. You can imagine how hostile they are.

Amber had some guesses in her mind after hearing this. She thought that Fang Yun might be a time traveler just like herself.

At present, the office faction is vaguely divided into two groups, one is the civilian class headed by Fang Yun, and the other is the aristocratic class headed by Foger. They dislike each other, and open and secret struggles have become the norm.

Amber is considered a new third-party force, and everyone is secretly watching which side he will join. Seeing Amber and Fogdo talking for a few words and making an appointment to go to the cafeteria for lunch together at noon, everyone began to guess.

"There's nothing good to eat in the military cafeteria, but the lunch break is too short to go out for a meal. Let's just make do with what we have here. I'll ask some friends to book a table for you some other day."

As the saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Fogg seemed to see that Amber had no intention of forming a close friendship with Fang Yun. In addition, Ludwig had warned him in advance, so in just one morning he had already started to be arm in arm with Amber, looking extremely intimate. He also called a few male insects who he got along well with to go to the cafeteria for dinner together.

A group of male insects appeared in the cafeteria in a mighty manner. They were young, handsome and quite pleasing to the eyes. The new recruits who had just finished training could not help but look over here. In addition, Foger liked to flirt everywhere, which made them blush. The whole cafeteria was filled with the strong smell of hormones.

"Slut!"

Fang Yun and his friends happened to be eating in the cafeteria. When they saw this scene, they frowned in disgust. After getting their meals, they sat down at the table with their plates. Their words were full of disdain for Foger and his bunch of bugs:

"The military is a place of work. They don't take it seriously. It's not enough for them to get horny in the office, they even go to the cafeteria."

"I thought Mr. Amber was just a bad guy, but I didn't expect that he was no different from Fogg and his gang. Didn't the Star Network say that he came from a third-class star? How could he be mixed up with Fogg's group of nobles?"

Fang Yun remained silent from beginning to end. He poked the meat on the plate with his fork and said, "After all, Ms. Amber was engaged to Major General Ludwig, so her worth must be different."

As soon as he said this, his companions laughed at him, saying, "So what if he was engaged? He still broke off the engagement. I heard that he was afraid of being killed by Major General Ludwig, so he broke off the engagement even if it meant offending the Lanyi family."

Fang Yun didn't know what he was thinking after hearing this, and he said to himself: "He is quite lucky..."

The words were so soft that only he could hear them.

Amber is still in the exploratory stage about the military. After he and Fogg finished their meal, they found a table and sat down. Coincidentally, Fang Yun and his friends were on their right.

Ferguson crossed his legs, cut a piece of steak and stuffed it into his mouth, and deliberately said to Amber: "To be honest, sitting here really affects my appetite."

Amber smiled and glanced at the side: "It doesn't matter, the influence is mutual."

Fang Yun at the next table was obviously annoyed by Foger's arrival and couldn't eat. He glared at them, but Foger turned a blind eye. So Amber realized that this guy sat here deliberately to annoy Fang Yun.

Amber slowly cut the steak on the plate. The taste was not very good, but it was good value for money. He wondered if Fang Yun was the "assassin" and how to test him. After all, the military was under surveillance everywhere, and it was difficult to kill a male insect.

He was lost in thought when Fogg, who was sitting opposite him, suddenly disappeared and floated to a table diagonally opposite him, smiling brightly: "Connie~ What a coincidence, you are here to eat too?"

Opposite him sat a pretty military lady who replied in a neutral tone, "What a coincidence, Mr. Fogg."

Foger held his chin with one hand, his eyes flashing: "I asked you to go to the movies last time, why didn't you come with me?"

Connie seemed a little angry when he heard this, and threw the knife and fork down beside him. He thought about it and felt something was wrong, so he picked it up again and ate his meal in silence: "Didn't you make an appointment with Paine?"

Foger quietly touched his little hand and blinked innocently: "Can we watch it together as three worms~"

It’s not like he can’t afford the ticket.

That's a really easy thing to get beaten up for.

Amber put down his knife and fork, wiped the corners of his mouth with his napkin, and was ready to stand up to persuade them to stop fighting, but unexpectedly, Fang Yun at the next table was one step faster than him. He slammed the table and stood up, and walked over with his companions in a rage: "Ferg!"

Fang Yun's physique was still much stronger than the local male insects. He grabbed Foger's collar, his face full of anger: "I warned you last time not to harass your colleagues again, you ignored my words, didn't you?!"

The noise was so loud that all the insects around looked over. Connie was also startled and quickly stood up to stop him: "Mr. Fang Yun, you misunderstood..."

Fang Yun pushed him aside and said, "Don't be afraid. I'll take care of anything that happens!"

Foger gritted his teeth silently. Why did Fang Yun always haunt him? What did it have to do with him flirting with a little female insect? "Mr. Fang Yun, what do you mean by harassment? I just said a few words to Connie. Do you have the right to point fingers at me?"

He suddenly realized, "Oh, so you like Connie too? But haven't you been flirting with Sivley recently? You must be hungry to eat two at once."

"you!"

Fang Yun was furious when he heard that. He was about to punch him, but his wrist was suddenly grabbed by someone. The other person didn't seem to use much force, but he just couldn't get away like steel. A casual voice rang in his ears: "Mr. Fang Yun, we are all colleagues, you seem to be a little too angry."

Fang Yun turned around in surprise, only to see that it was Amber who tried to stop them. Feeling unhappy, he started to blame her: "Mr. Amber, are you just going to watch Connie being teased?!"

Amber raised her eyebrows slightly and corrected him: "First, I don't know Connie, so whether he was teased or not doesn't seem to have much to do with me. Second, he just said it was a misunderstanding. Your Excellency Fang Yun doesn't need to be so excited. As for the third... the military is a place with laws. Even if Fogg broke the rules, it seems that it is not your turn to deal with it?"

Although these words were a bit ruthless, they were well-reasoned. Even Fogg subconsciously straightened his back and said with confidence: "That's right, Connie didn't say anything, why are you so excited? If you don't know, you would think I was teasing you!"

Fang Yun couldn't save face, but he couldn't break free from Amber's grip. He gritted his teeth and threatened, "Let go! Otherwise, I will be rude to you!"

Amber smiled when he heard this. He was worried that he would not have the chance to test Fang Yun, but he did not expect that such a good opportunity would be presented to him. He asked, "What if I don't let go?"

"Bang--!"

As soon as these words were spoken, it was like lighting the fuse of a bomb, and the war was about to break out.

Fang Yun kicked Amber without warning, with full force, obviously a martial artist. Amber's eyes dimmed when she saw him, and she quickly moved to the side to avoid him, and they tangled up in a fight.

Insects naturally love to watch excitement. Seeing this, the surrounding insects cried out in fear and retreated, leaving a vacuum circle. However, the swarm of insects did not disperse, but instead surrounded the place with three layers inside and three layers outside, making it impossible for anything to escape.

Some high-ranking military officials who were dining on the second floor stood up upon hearing the noise. They saw several dining tables in the first-floor hall overturned and two dark figures entangled in a fight.

Although Fang Yun was a martial artist, his fighting style was mostly unorthodox, with his punches running straight ahead, which was a bit clumsy. Amber was testing his limits, dodging with ease the whole time, until she realized that Fang Yun's skills were indeed average, then she suddenly changed her moves and attacked quickly, beating the opponent back step by step, with her agile and powerful body and beautiful moves, which dazzled the onlookers.

Admiral Giles had a bad temper. He slammed the table and shouted in a deep voice, "What's going on downstairs? Which squad of female soldiers are fighting? Let their captain take them back!"

Major General Lu Suti was sitting opposite him and looked down: "Admiral, the ones fighting are not female soldiers, but two male insects. It seems to be Mr. Fang Yun and...Ms. Amber?"

When he uttered the last name, he subconsciously looked to his side and saw that Ludwig, who was casually cutting the steak, had paused.
