Chapter 66 Making Dumplings

The two of them wrapped dumplings from morning to afternoon, and cooked a pot of dumplings for lunch. It wasn't until after 2 p.m. that they finished wrapping all the fillings.

Six dustpans were full, and a large dustpan was also full.

"Go call your brother Dalin over." Song Jinxiu patted her waist. She was exhausted after sitting all day.

Fortunately, An An helped me, otherwise I don’t know how long it would take to finish wrapping it.

I also need to ask Dalinzi to help deliver the dumplings down the mountain.

Not long after, the two came back, and Song Jinxiu brought out a large bowl of dumplings and handed it to Dalinzi.

"Try and see if it tastes good." If you want the horse to run, you have to feed it well.

"Thanks to your friends for their help last time, I don't know how to thank them, so I can only treat them to a meal of dumplings." Song Jinxiu said embarrassedly.

She really thought about it a lot. She didn't know how much to give as money. She didn't know what to give as gifts. Gold, silver, and jewelry? That was out of the question.

After much deliberation, I decided to treat him to a meal. My cooking skills are pretty good here.

"No need, it's just a small thing, why do you need to thank me so solemnly?" Dalinzi said. "It's just a small favor, don't take it to heart."

"I'm grateful for saving your life. Please eat quickly. I'd also like to ask you to help me share the dumplings with your friends.

Please also say thank you again for me, I won't be able to do it myself." Song Jinxiu hurriedly urged, fearing that it would be dark before she continued to be polite.

Dalinzi then sat down and ate with big mouthfuls. He finished a big bowl of dumplings in one go. Song Jinxiu served him another bowl.

"No, no, one bowl is enough for me. You can keep the rest for yourselves." Dalinzi waved his hand quickly.

"One bowl is not enough, eat one more bowl. The dumplings are cooked." Song Jinxiu filled another bowl and put it on the table.

"Come back after you've delivered the things. I'll prepare another one for you. Thank you for helping me in the hospital."

"No, no, I've already eaten two big bowls. How can I take more?" Dalinzi finished his meal in one gulp.

In the past, three winnowing baskets were stacked together and covered with banana leaves. Three on each side, tied tightly with ropes, and then carried on a shoulder pole.

"We still have these braised meats. Let's add a dish to them." Song Jinxiu took another earthenware jar and filled it with ten pounds of braised meat.

This gift should be acceptable.

There seems to be a lot of stuff, but if you divide it among twenty or so people, there won’t be much left.

"Then I'll leave." Dalinzi went out carrying a shoulder pole.

"Remember to come and get it, otherwise I will have to ask An An to deliver it to you." Before leaving, Song Jinxiu gave another instruction.

There were still a lot of dumpling wrappers left, so Song Jinxiu put them aside for now.

I packed two plates of dumplings and a piece of braised pork into a basket and headed towards Aunt Cuihua's house.

At this point, I didn't meet anyone on the road.

"Is Auntie home?" Song Jinxiu shouted at the door.

"I'm here." Aunt Cuihua's voice came. Everyone was busy cleaning today, and Aunt Cuihua's house had just been cleaned.

"I made dumplings today and brought some for you. They'll be just right for dinner." Song Jinxiu put the basket on the table and was about to leave.

"Kid, just make some dumplings for you and An An, why are you giving them to us?" Aunt Cuihua held her back.

"Aunt, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your care for me in the hospital and your help after I came back." Song Jinxiu expressed her gratitude solemnly.

"What nonsense are you talking about, kid? What's the point of saying thank you or not? Isn't it your duty to lend a hand when you're in trouble?" Aunt Cuihua felt a little embarrassed.

People nowadays tend to be more reserved in their emotions and generally don’t speak so bluntly.

"So, it's just a little bit of dumplings, Auntie will eat it. Hehehehehe!!

I'll have An'an come get the basket later. Auntie, I'm leaving first." Song Jinxiu said and went out. As she walked away, she turned back and waved to Aunt Cuihua.

"This child!" Aunt Cuihua smiled as she watched the figure walking away.

When Song Jinxiu saw the remaining dumpling wrappers after returning home, her face fell. She had to continue making them!

It just so happened that Aunt Cuihua came over with some leeks the day before yesterday, so I decided to make some leek and meat filling.

He told Liu Ankang to wash the vegetables, and he took out a piece of meat with both fat and lean meat and started chopping it.

It was already past six o'clock by the time I finished wrapping the remaining dumplings.

In the evening, Song Jinxiu steamed dumplings stuffed with leeks.

"It smells so good." Song Jinxiu said. "Which do you think is better, leeks or cabbage?"

Liu Ankang thought for a moment and took out a piece of meat. I think meat is the most delicious.

Although he can speak, he is still not used to talking.

"I'm asking you about leek stuffing and cabbage stuffing. Who doesn't know that meat is delicious? It really is." Song Jinxiu rolled her eyes at him.

Liu Ankang raised the dumplings in his hand. The ones with leek filling were delicious.

"I think leek stuffing is delicious too. Hehe! It seems that we have the same taste." Song Jinxiu said with a smile.

The next day, Aunt Cuihua brought back the basket and plate.

"Aunt, why did you come here in person? Didn't you say that An An would get it later?" Song Jinxiu said as she took the basket.

"I brought it here just because I have something to tell you! The village is going to get a few pigs tomorrow, and I wanted to ask how much meat you want." Aunt Cuihua asked.

Song Jinxiu's eyes lit up. Although she had only bought a few dozen kilograms of meat, how could she think it was too much?

"Aunt, how many pounds do you plan to buy?" Song Jinxiu asked.

"The harvest is good this year, and life is better. I plan to buy half a pig to make some bacon and sausages." Aunt Cuihua said.

"Then I also want half a head. Auntie, let's buy one together.

Take me along when you make bacon and sausages. I love them, and so does An An. Hehehehe!!”

Song Jinxiu pulled Liu Ankang, who was standing nearby.

Liu Ankang did not refute, but looked at Aunt Cuihua with bright eyes. He really loved to eat!

Aunt Cuihua smiled at the two greedy little cats in front of her. "Okay, then we can team up. Just take them to my house and you can just go over and help."

Aunt Cuihua helped her cover up so that no one knew how much meat she bought, and she told others that she bought the bulk.

"Okay, thank you, auntie." Song Jinxiu said happily.

She didn't think too much about it, she was just happy that someone was taking her out to cook something delicious.

Life was convenient in the past and you could buy whatever you wanted, so the things Song Jinxiu could buy were really limited!

You will have plenty of time to rely on yourself in the future, and the more you learn, the more comfortable your life will be.

"Little greedy cat, you will have plenty of meat to eat tomorrow." Song Jinxiu said while pinching Liu Ankang's little face.

Ever since she discovered that Liu Ankang had gained weight on his face, Song Jinxiu liked to pinch his little face.

The fleshy texture feels really good.

Liu Ankang broke free, gave her a cold look and walked into the house.

When did we ever run out of meat? We still had a big pot of braised meat!

"No, we can't eat dumplings at noon. I want to eat something delicious. An An, what delicious food do you want to make at noon? I'll prepare the ingredients for you, okay?" Song Jinxiu asked behind Liu Ankang.
