Before Xu Feifei could finish speaking, Fan Mingyu, who had rushed over, interrupted her, "This is your own business, what does it have to do with Shang Lin?"
Shang Lin didn't expect Fan Mingyu to come back, but he didn't say anything. Since he was already here, could he really send him away?
As soon as Xu Feifei saw Fan Mingyu, she trembled slightly like a startled rabbit, but still met Shang Lin's probing gaze and continued, "So I thought I'd find a great guy to be my boyfriend, so my parents would give up on their decision."
These words left Shang Lin speechless, while Fan Mingyu angrily retorted, "What kind of bizarre thought process do you have? And what does it matter to you whether Shang Lin is capable or not? This is clearly a matter for your family, yet you're dragging innocent people into it. What are you thinking? Are you taking advantage of the fact that Shang Lin has no parents?"
Fan Mingyu grew angrier as he spoke, "And who is your fiancé? Even your parents can't afford to offend him, yet you want Shang Lin to mess with him? How dare you be so shameless?"
Shang Lin really didn't expect that this matter would affect Fan Mingyu so much. He quickly reached out and patted the other's shoulder, "Alright, alright, the young lady was desperate and came up with such a clumsy idea. Let me talk to her."
Fan Mingyu immediately looked at Shang Lin, still angry, "What did you say? You don't even know the gravity of the situation. I'm talking to her."
"Okay, okay." Shang Lin immediately compromised. "Then talk to me properly, don't make it sound like we're arguing, as if the two of us guys are really bullying the girl."
Fan Mingyu took a deep breath before looking at Xu Feifei and saying, "Everyone has their own difficulties. How can you transfer your difficulties to a classmate who is basically a stranger?"
Xu Feifei could only cry and cry, repeatedly saying, "I really have no other way, no other way."
Fan Mingyu suddenly scoffed, "You have no choice but to harm others? How dare you be so shameless?"
Seeing that Fan Mingyu's words were all in anger, Shang Lin had no choice but to pull him behind her and say to Xu Feifei, "Actually, I can help you, but you have to be able to pay a price that exceeds what I might lose because of this. So what are you prepared to offer in exchange?"
Shang Lin did not want to bear anyone's karma, but an exchange was acceptable because he gained more than he lost, making it a worthwhile investment. He would then bear the karma for this worthwhile investment.
Xu Feifei stared blankly at Shang Lin for a long while before stammering, "I have some money, but not much. As for anything else, that's all."
Shang Lin smiled gently, "Then think of another way. I really can't help you. Maybe you can start with your parents and relatives. After all, everyone has a weakness. As long as you find it, you can basically succeed. Okay, let's go back to class."
Shang Lin was worried about Xu Feifei being alone. Since he had brought her out, he wanted to take her back. Fan Mingyu, however, looked at him with some dissatisfaction and said, "You really are..."
Shang Lin glanced at Fan Mingyu, who immediately shut his mouth obediently, but thought to himself, "You're such a saintly white lotus, and you won't even let me speak. Why do you care about someone as selfish as Xu Feifei? Why are you talking to her so nicely and even trying to help her? She's clearly trying to ruin you. Don't think that just because you rejected her, this matter is over. Maybe her fiancé will come looking for trouble with you?"
Actually, Fan Mingyu knew about Xu Feifei's engagement, or rather, his father had told him about it before he passed away. It was mainly because when the Xu family was "selling" their daughter, they also thought of their family.
His father was shocked and turned to his son, vividly recounting, "I immediately retorted, 'My son is only sixteen, why am I in such a hurry? It's better for him to date when he's thirty-six and get married when he's forty, that way things will be more stable.'"
Fan Mingyu was still grateful for his father's refusal. Although he could have refused, he knew that if his father had agreed, he would have faced a lot of trouble. But he couldn't help asking curiously, "So, you're saying the Xu family agrees?"
"Of course, besides, our family's current financial situation is just average. They won't spend much effort on us. If they're going to 'sell' their daughter, they should at least get a good price, right?"
Fan Mingyu had nothing to say about this, so he didn't say anything more. Later, he heard his father say, "The Xu family has successfully found a business marriage partner for their youngest daughter, a man eight years older than her who is disabled in both legs. Apart from his legs, he is a good man in every way. Xu Feifei's parents were overjoyed and immediately got engaged."
Fan Mingyu casually asked, "Who is that man?"
"It's the eldest son of the Lu family."
"Oh, it's him."
Then Fan Mingyu put the matter out of her mind, but she never expected that she would become classmates with Xu Feifei. And now she even found Shang Lin and used the identity of a fake boyfriend to fight against her family. It was simply a pipe dream.
Back in the classroom, it happened to be the homeroom teacher's class. She looked at Shang Lin and the other two with completely bewildered expressions, especially Xu Feifei, who clearly had been crying. But since it was class time, she could only pretend not to see and continue teaching.
When get out of class ended, the homeroom teacher called Shang Lin and the other two out and asked directly, "What's wrong with you? Why is Xu Feifei crying?"
Boys and girls of this age are going through puberty and are prone to causing unexpected trouble. Teachers have to be vigilant and address problems as early as possible.
Shang Lin hurriedly replied, "Xu Feifei had a sore throat, and we happened to run into her on the road, so we took her to the infirmary. But no one was there, so we waited for a while. She was probably in too much pain, which is why she cried."
Fan Mingyu silently gave Shang Lin a thumbs up in his heart. The way this man talked nonsense with a straight face was simply impeccable. If he hadn't been involved, he probably would have believed it too.
Xu Feifei wasn't stupid; she naturally knew that in this situation, following Shang Lin's advice was the best way to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. So she hurriedly chimed in, "Yes, it still hurts."
The teacher immediately asked Xu Feifei with concern, "What happened? Did you catch a cold because it's so cold?"
Xu Feifei nodded immediately, "Yes."
"Then go to the pharmacy to buy medicine after school. Don't go to the infirmary. The infirmary can only treat minor injuries, not colds or fevers."
"Thank you, teacher." Xu Feifei behaved very well, and the teacher didn't say anything more before letting them leave.
Fan Mingyu looked at Xu Feifei with a hint of disdain, then put his arm around Shang Lin's neck and pulled her into the classroom.
