Although Shang Lin didn't understand Cheng Qiao's bizarre actions, he wouldn't interfere in other people's business. Putting aside cause and effect, everyone has to take responsibility for their choices, and even pay the price.
However, just as Shang Lin was walking towards his class, he suddenly saw Fan Mingyu walking towards him. The guy immediately looked furtive when he saw him.
Shang Lin couldn't help but ask curiously, "What are you doing so early in the morning?"
Fan Mingyu quickly took something out of his school uniform pocket and shoved it into Shang Lin's hand. "Take a look at this. Is there something wrong with it?"
Shang Lin immediately looked down. In his hand was a simple little plastic bottle without any label. Inside were a few dusty, inconspicuous little pills.
Shang Lin immediately looked up, puzzled, at Fan Mingyu. "What is this? Where did you get it?" It doesn't look like anything good.
Fan Mingyu lowered his voice even further, "Isn't this the memory-enhancing drug that's been all the rage lately? Someone gave it to me, but I didn't think it was reliable, so I didn't dare take it. But I was afraid of missing out, so I brought it to you to see. They say if you take one half an hour before an exam, your brain will be like it's been given a cheat code! It's practically miraculous."
Shang Lin's gaze immediately darkened. "Leave it to me. You go to class."
Fan Mingyu was still a little worried. "Then you should take a close look. If it's real, don't waste my good stuff."
"Okay, I understand."
As soon as Shang Lin finished speaking, he walked towards his class, but in his heart he couldn't help but complain, "This is something that you can't tell is good just by looking at it. And you still say don't waste it? It's better to waste it, that would save you."
However, Shang Lin's gaze lingered on the small bottle for a moment, and then he probed it with his divine sense. Beneath the unremarkable appearance of the small pill, there was a faint and subtle cold aura, like a lurking venomous snake flicking its tongue, silently coiling around him, as if trying to seize his divine sense.
"Damn it!" Shang Lin immediately withdrew his divine sense, but he could still feel the lingering aura. It was chilling and bone-piercing, carrying an ominous sense of decay and resentment, and was definitely not something that human medicine should have.
Could this be something created by evil practitioners? If you eat this tiny pill, what good person wouldn't be ruined? They'd get a serious illness, or at least a minor one; it could even be fatal!
As for rapidly improving memory and making exams seem like a cheat code, it likely involves consuming a person's brain cells excessively. This massive and intense consumption would then cause brain damage, potentially leading to mental impairment or even death.
Shang Lin suddenly paused, wondering what would happen if he became an idiot or died. He felt that was the ultimate goal. If it was just to make money, well, that was unlikely, because it was too expensive and students couldn't afford it. After all, wealthy people were still a minority.
This situation just seems a bit like...
The school bell suddenly interrupted Shang Lin's thoughts. He immediately put away the medicine bottle and walked into the classroom as if nothing had happened. His deskmate, Lin Xiaoxiao, looked sickly and forced to stay awake. She didn't even have the polite smile she used to give him every day.
As Shang Lin sat down, she asked with concern, "What's wrong? Are you sick?" You were perfectly fine yesterday! You got sick overnight? It's not common to get sick in the summer, is it?
Lin Xiaoxiao lay on the table and answered in a voice barely above a whisper, "I'm not sick, it's, it's, um, my period is here!"
