Chapter 54 They are all acting weird today

Episode 54 They are all weird today

After hanging up the phone, I suddenly thought that Shang Hexing usually doesn’t like to call me.

Is it because of an emergency?

But if there is an urgent matter, he will never beat around the bush and will usually speak directly. For example, if I decline by saying I'm busy, we will have fewer opportunities to chat afterwards.

That said, it really isn't a rush.

I looked at Xiaozhuang in front of me. When I answered the phone just now, she automatically avoided it, turned around and looked at her phone. Now that I hung up the phone, she naturally put it down, but she couldn't help but ask curiously: "Who is it?"

"Fu Lin."

"Why didn't you answer his call?"

"Because..." I looked at my computer screen, "I'm busy?"

Xiaozhuang glanced at my computer at this time and was startled. "Oh, I thought you were done now? Won't I disturb you by talking to you like this?"

"No." I smiled. "I know what I'm doing. When I chat with Fu Lin, sometimes I don't know when it will end."

Because Shang Hexing has a bad habit, chatting with him always makes me feel like it's endless.

I am usually used to others ending the conversation first. For example, if I say goodbye and someone says goodbye to me back, I will subconsciously say goodbye back. Then he would reply to me, or even talk about other things. It was never so easy to end. But I always have to wait until he really doesn't reply. This doesn't matter at ordinary times, but when I'm working, I'd better not waste work resources.

Correspondingly, when chatting with Xiaozhuang, I was very clear that the chat time would not exceed five minutes.

This is controllable.

But to Xiaozhuang, it seemed like there was another meaning. "Are you and Fu Lin so close? Can you talk for so long? To be honest, before the farewell party, I didn't know you two were so close until I saw you write to him. Then I realized that I missed 100 million."

"If we count the good relationships, apart from his fellow villager Shang Hexing, the one who has the best relationship with Fu Lin should be An Qingyan." I thought carefully about the original character of Fu Lin, "He has a good relationship with everyone, so I think my relationship with him is just average. He is quite easy to get close to others."

I remember that I once stood up to him.

I just unilaterally feel that he makes it easy for people to feel close to him.

How do you say this?

Although I was on the periphery of their social relationship, after all we had been together for a whole year, so there was always something going on between us.

In one of the cases solved, a player developed feelings for someone from Anubis. Players just think of NPCs for fun. When they get tired of one mode, they switch to the next one without any sense of responsibility. To them, the people here are just game characters, but to Anubis’s people, they are just scumbags. However, women are highly intelligent criminals. They do not force the boys to break up with them before they succeed in cheating on them. Moreover, during the four-month-long relationship, the woman mentally and emotionally controlled the player for a long time until the other party became frightened and wanted to escape, at which time he died at her hands.

From the reader's perspective, this case is very well designed. The corpse is used in a two-layer design, which not only provides an alibi for the player, but also makes the other suspect think that he killed the player.

This is something that can only be experienced in novels.

In reality, if most people have the time and ability, they will destroy the body as much as possible so that the source of the body cannot be traced, and it would be best if not even the bones are left. This way they can get away with it.

Because of this incident, Fu Lin even had a special chat with me, just to talk about his concerns.

I thought at that time, he was wondering whether the people who were confusing Anubis were just data or did they really have real feelings? Or maybe he wasn't quite sure how he should face Anubis's people, or the so-called way to get along with them? So, I thought about what he wanted to talk about, so I would open my heart and talk to him sincerely, so that he could feel the reality of being a "living person".

But of course he didn't explain it so clearly. He just asked me why I didn't look like I had any worries.

I forgot what he was talking about, but it was something similar.

Because he then asked: "Who do you usually talk to about your worries?"

I said I would tell my parents.

He was stunned at first, then he suddenly laughed. He was surprised and didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but he understood helplessly, "You must have a very good relationship with your family."

That's for sure.

Because I have such a good relationship with my family, I have no pursuit of any external relationships and never feel lonely.

I don’t have much pursuit for friends, because I know that not everyone has to make friends, and not everyone who makes friends will definitely meet the most suitable friends for their life. And the most suitable friend for you in this life may not necessarily be your best friend.

In fact, how should I put it? Sometimes you may not even meet parents who love their children, so it is actually very difficult to force yourself to have good friends or lovers who will be with you for life.

"I am lucky."

After listening to what I said, Fu Lin was very disappointed. "I don't have a good relationship with my family. Rather than going home, I would rather have a reason not to go home. I chose to go to boarding school in high school, and immediately flew to a place where my parents couldn't control me when I went to college."

It’s hard to respond to this kind of talk, isn’t it?

I don’t know what to say either.

He would be sad if he needed care and comfort, but he didn't.

If he was expressing his happiness at having found freedom, he was not very happy.

If he needed to be listened to, he would have continued talking, which was not reflected either.

I don't know his mentality, what his point is.

But it was awkward if I didn’t say anything, so I asked, “Do you think so now?”

Fu Lin said: "I only have feelings for the home where my brother is, so I don't want to go back."

This is a plot point!

"Brother" is the key word.

Please allow me to say a few words first.

I have seen comics before, and the setting of Fu Lin in the comics is quite complicated.

His memories are actually divided into early and late stages according to the comics time period.

Early readers' impression of Fu Lin was that he came from a family full of tragedy. The biological father was addicted to gambling and domestic violence. When the biological mother found that she could not change this, she abandoned her family in despair. His biological father never returned home, so the young Fu Lin was adopted by his biological father's younger brother. Therefore, readers naturally interpret that Fu Lin always holds a negative attitude towards his own achievements because of the sense of unworthiness brought about by his original family.

In order to solve the problem of Fu Lin being able to successfully get rid of the problem of "escaping from family", the later comics revealed another fact.

That is, the memory of being adopted by his uncle actually came from his older brother. His elder brother came into the family when Fu Lin was born. They had been very close as children, and his elder brother took good care of him. However, the brother could not stand the words and pressure from Fu Lin's mother. He chose to commit suicide due to depression and left the family. Fu Lin also noticed his father's inaction.

This is a story of "love turning into hurt", which also caused Fu Lin to reject his family and distrust love.

As a reader, I feel that this setting is better than the "sense of unworthiness".

Because it elevates the inner world of the characters to the level of social relations, which is a killer move especially for people with an East Asian background.

Sartre wrote a very good sentence in "No Exit" - "Hell is other people". Simply put, living with others is a form of hell. In the social context of East Asia, which places particular emphasis on collectivism, just one relationship can become a lifelong shackle.

Even though many people would say "it's all in the past", "forget it", "escaping is shameful but useful" or "the worst that can happen is I'll just go crazy" to a relationship full of negative emotions, the essence of this is that the other party is unable to break away from the relationship and starts to find ways and explanations.

But for Fu Lin, this relationship still comes from his biological parents.

Fu Lin is a person who likes to make harsh remarks, but in fact he always turns around to do things well and does not want others to get hurt, so he is destined to have a hard time getting over it. Therefore, Fu Lin's background setting would be much more difficult than solving the feeling of unworthiness.

I was looking forward to this plot when I read the comics. Because the main themes of the story can be roughly divided into three categories: "survival", "revenge" and "healing", especially when coupled with Fu Lin's scarred memories, I naturally wondered what kind of answer the comic book author would give to Fu Lin's life?

At the end of the comic, Fu Lin gained friends in Anubis and successfully realized his own value. If this is about addressing feelings of unworthiness, then this answer is actually acceptable. However, this does not fundamentally solve the problem of "love hurts".

The reason I was disappointed at that time was not because the problem was not solved, but because I used the method of making a wish to make all the regrets disappear.

In terms of the nature of the story, this is a clear enough emotional thread, and the regrets are made up for later, allowing Fu Lin to start over and feel healed.

However, it does not have much practical significance for real people.

I didn't expect that Fu Lin would suddenly tell me about his brother. This shows that Fu Lin has opened more than half of his heart to the world.

I even thought, doesn’t Shang Hexing have to hear this?

This way they can have a deeper connection in this life.

But the opportunity is rare, so I suppressed my excitement and said calmly, "Is it because I look like your brother that you specifically told me this?"

"no……"

At that time, I realized that I had been hooked by Fu Lin. I thought we had such a good relationship and he treated me as his brother, so he finally couldn't help but tell me what he was thinking. In the end, he denied my idea.

At this moment, I thought that he must want to resonate with others through his story and hear other people's inner world. This is a typical psychological strategy of "emotional exchange".

Fu Lin was not shy about it. “I just thought, maybe we can talk to each other occasionally.”

I totally don't understand, what can men talk about with each other?

I really wanted to refuse, but being as polite as I am, I could only say something nice and agreed. And, to be honest, I am also grateful that he told me his inner voice, which shows that it is a kind of trust.

Even if it was fake, I was very grateful that he took the initiative to take a step towards me.

Back to reality, Xiaozhuang was strangely relieved when he heard me say that Fu Lin and I had an ordinary relationship.

Before I could think about it, Xiao Zhuang asked again, "What about the case of the deceased Mingsheng? Do you have any ideas? I heard that the cockatiel pointed out that Mingsheng's murderer was his sister?"

There are also real-life examples of parrots representing evil.

"I came to a new conclusion yesterday." I couldn't help but sigh, "Xiaobai... the cockatiel might be the real murderer."

"How can a parrot kill people?" Xiao Zhuang couldn't believe it. "This is carbon monoxide poisoning! Has the parrot mutated?"

"Ordinary parrots can also kill people. You can look up the records and find real cases in the late 19th century. As long as——"

At this point, my cell phone rang again, this time it was Shang Hexing's version of Fu Lin. This time I told Xiaozhuang that I needed to take a call and asked her to go ahead and do her work.

Fu Lin usually doesn't bother me too casually.

I said, "After I finish the call, I will continue to be busy. Don't worry about this matter."

I watched Xiaozhuang leave while answering the phone. The voice from the other end came over quickly, "Is there something wrong?"

As I thought about this, I glanced at the things at hand and said, "Go ahead, it's okay."

But as soon as I finished speaking, the other side said that everything was fine.

Then he hung up the phone.

...Shang Hexing and Fu Lin are both acting weird today.

I feel like I got shunned twice.
