"Oh no, oh no, meow!!!"
"I'm going to die, meow!"
Seeing the shattered mirror, Acha, her fur standing on end, leaped out of Su Deng's arms and frantically pried at the shards with all four paws.
When it couldn't reach the target with its claws, it started running around the room like a headless fly, making noises all the while.
"It's all over, meow!"
"Meow—!"
As it darted around, it knocked things to the ground.
Because of it, the once clean and tidy interior became a mess.
Su Deng rubbed her forehead and, just as it was about to leap over her again, swiftly caught it.
"Acha!" Su Deng stroked its chin and head, trying to soothe it by petting it. "Calm down!"
“Meow—”
Acha sobbed, "I shouldn't have let you in, meow... I'm sorry, meow... I'm going to kill you, meow..."
Su Deng rubbed its head. "It was my own decision to come in."
Acha looked up, "You're not blaming me?"
Su Deng's gaze was deep and unfathomable. "You have to tell me what the current situation is before I can decide whether to blame you or not."
Acha: "...Meow..."
The Book of Gods and Demons says that some ghosts and monsters, which are called unclean things, were sealed in a mirror made by the gods.
"As I told you before, many shrine maidens use mirrors, magic balls, crystal balls, and the like for divination."
Divination and sealing are ancient arts.

They had traveled from the forest to the palace and climbed through the mirrored passage for so long; by now it should be dawn.
But in this world, the sky outside is entirely crimson purple.
A group of guards stood there like statues, and others took turns patrolling.
The trees and flowers in the garden were also swaying gently.

None of these moving things made a sound!
The patrol team consisted of seven or eight people. They walked so quietly that not a single speck of dust was raised and not a sound was made!
The scene was like a movie that had been muted, incredibly eerie.
Depressing and gloomy.
Acha meowed softly, "These might not even be real people..."
A mirror has two sides: one is true, and the other is false.
One side is good, the other side is evil.
“Look over there, meow…” Acha gestured for Su Deng to look ahead.
The patterns carved on the two pillars supporting the palace building should have been symmetrical and aligned, but they were reversed.
This includes the inscriptions on the plaques above the palace gates.
“Trees and flowers should also be reversed, but it’s not very obvious in those things…” Acha whispered in Su Deng’s ear, “That’s the reverse side of a mirror.”
