Chapter 292 The Ghost Bride

After the matchmaker recited a series of congratulatory words, she shouted loudly, "Let the feast begin!"

The villagers who had gathered there returned to the square and sat down at the tables to begin their meal.

Su Deng frowned more and more as she watched this bizarre nighttime wedding.

The wedding is over, so what's the task?

Up until now, the system hasn't issued any tasks or even sent any notifications.

What do I need to do in this level? Just watch people get married in the afterlife?

"Sister Su?" A child's voice suddenly rang out, and someone ran up to Su Deng. "Are you Sister Su?"

Su Deng was slightly stunned. Before she could react and say anything, the child pulled her towards the square, shouting as they ran, "Sister Su is back! Sister Su is back..."

"Xiao Su?"

"Where is it? Let me see."

"Oh, it really is Xiao Su. What brings you back now?"

"We thought you weren't coming back."

A group of villagers who were preparing to eat immediately got up and surrounded her, making her the center of attention.

There's no character designation, no identity, and no game hints.

Su Deng could only force a smile, "Hello everyone, hello everyone, it's just that... I wanted to come back..."

"My dear child, if you had come back a little earlier, you would have made it in time for the wedding ceremony, and perhaps even shared in the joy," said an elderly woman with gray hair, dressed in red and looking beautiful.

Su Deng: "..."

Let whoever wants to share in the joy of a ghost marriage, but stay away from her!

"Xiao Su, really, you didn't even tell me you were coming back."

"You've been fortunate enough to be here on this joyous day."

"Quickly, quickly, the feast is about to begin, everyone please take your seats."

"Xiao Su, sit here with me."

Before Su Deng could say anything more, the villagers warmly pulled her to a table and sat her down. A woman next to her brought her a bowl and chopsticks, while another put a chicken leg and some vegetables in her bowl.

"Little Su, eat this!"

"Xiao Su hasn't been back for a long time, and she's even more beautiful now. Girls change a lot as they grow up."

"Eat quickly, eat more..."

A group of villagers seemed to know her well and were very enthusiastic towards her, piling the food in her bowl into a small mountain.

Su Deng could only force a smile and listen silently. She thought that the enthusiasm of these people would subside, or that she could make an excuse to leave.

But after serving her food, everyone stared at her because she didn't touch her chopsticks.

"Eat."

"Eat quickly, taste these dishes."

"Eat quickly..."

The people around her kept telling her to "eat quickly," which sounded like a symphony to her ears.

Not just the people at this table, but all the villagers in the entire square were watching her, as if they would keep watching her as long as she didn't eat.

The villagers, including all the decorations, were all bright red, while she alone wore a cold, somber black outfit, like a drop of black blood emerging from countless drops of blood.

It was eerie and creepy. Even though Su Deng wasn't particularly afraid, the scene still made her scalp tingle.

The food looked delicious and appealed to all.

Su Deng was indeed unrestrained in this game world, but in this situation, she felt that there must be something wrong with the food, and she absolutely could not eat it.

But if she doesn't eat under the watchful eyes of everyone, they will keep staring at her.

Su Deng steeled herself, picked up her chopsticks, took a piece of braised pork from the bowl, and swallowed it as she brought it to her mouth. Suddenly, she cried out in surprise, the chopsticks and the meat slipping from her hand, and she clutched her stomach in pain.

Ouch!

"What's wrong?"

“You…”

"Sorry, my stomach hurts so much, I need to go to the toilet. I'll eat when I get back," Su Deng said quickly, clutching her stomach as she ran out of the square, leaving the others behind.

Seeing that no one was chasing after him, Su Deng breathed a sigh of relief when he reached the village. He stared at the reddest and brightest house in the distance for a while before walking over.

【bite--

Trigger game task 1: Find the bride's embroidered shoes.

She had barely stepped through the gate of the mansion when the dead-looking game system finally started beeping and issuing a mission.

Feeling the chilly wind in the air, Su Deng tiptoed inside and arrived at the bride's bridal chamber.

Su Deng looked around, then gently poked a hole in the paper window and silently observed the room.

On the round table inside the room were several small dishes, a red wine pot, two red porcelain wine cups, a memorial tablet, and two thick red candles, their flames flickering.

The bride sat upright on the bed, her hands folded in front of her, her veil still on her head, neatly covering her face.

Behind her, the rooster lay on the quilt, and a large red silk ribbon bound the memorial tablet, the rooster, and the bride together, without being untied.

Su Deng looked down and saw that the bride was not wearing shoes.

Su Deng frowned. She was still wearing it when she was brought in not long ago.

If you want to find it, you still have to go inside.

Su Deng circled back to the doorway. No matter how quietly she moved, the door still made a sound when it was pushed open.

But the bride inside the house seemed oblivious and didn't react at all. Only the rooster next to her, with its tiny, bean-sized eyes, glanced in her direction.

Su Deng and he locked eyes.

The rooster neither crowed nor moved.

Whether it was an illusion or not, Su Deng sensed calmness, composure, and a human-like quality from the rooster's eyes and face.

For a moment, she felt that the rooster contained the soul of a person, not a chicken.

Su Deng paused for a moment, then spoke softly, "Hello, bride. The matchmaker asked me to come and see you."

The bride remained silent and motionless.
