"Whoosh whoosh whoosh".
In the darkness, I could hear my wife's soft snoring.
My wife is quite thin and never used to snore, but recently, because Wang Peng keeps crying and making a fuss in the middle of the night, she is not getting enough sleep and has started snoring occasionally.
Wang Tianxiao gently rubbed her hair. His wife usually turns over in her sleep. As long as she lies on her side, she basically doesn't snore. Snoring is most severe when she lies on her back.
But tonight, his wife woke up as soon as he rubbed her.
She felt unwell and reached out in the dark, where she touched her husband's hand. It was a little cold, so she pressed it to her face and whispered, "Shopkeeper, you're back."
"Yeah, I've been back for a little while. Did I wake you up?"
"Am I snoring again?" Li Yali said shyly and embarrassedly, "I don't know why, but I've been very tired lately. I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. I was thinking of talking to you after you finished drinking, but you've been so busy lately that I haven't been able to help you. I'm just taking a toll on you."
Wang Tianxiao gently stroked his wife's soft face with his thumb and said softly, "Taking care of the children is so tiring, of course you're sleepy. Other people are exhausted just taking care of one child, and you have to take care of two. You've really worked hard."
“Fangwa is all grown up now, I don’t need to look after her much. She’s been sensible since she was little, which makes things easier for me,” Li Yali said, her voice softening as she spoke of her daughter, her words filled with happiness. “I just don’t know what kind of child Pengwa will be in the future. I hope he will be as well-behaved as Fangwa.”
"Any kind is fine, as long as they don't do evil and are upright and responsible men, they are good sons of the Wang family."
"puff."
Li Yali chuckled softly, then quickly covered her mouth with her other free hand, remembering that the children were still sleeping.
"I wonder what this child will do when he grows up?" Li Yali said again.
"I don't know," Wang Tianxiao actually knew that Wang Peng would go to university, a key university at that, and go all the way to a master's degree, where he would work in pharmaceutical research and development.
But he doesn't know if his rebirth will change the life trajectory of some children.
In his previous life, Wang Peng was a very well-behaved child, just like Wang Fang. They grew up in a poor family, so they were both very sensible. They not only helped their parents with all kinds of work at home and in the fields, but they also did very well in their studies.
Wang Peng was the first high school student, the first undergraduate student in the village, and a key undergraduate student at that. He was also the first to graduate with a master's degree from a top-tier university.
He eventually married a classmate, and the two settled in Suzhou, a city in southern China.
With a good income and social status, Wang Peng also holds shares in a pharmaceutical R&D company, where he is responsible for drug development related to genes or proteins, making him quite wealthy.
They also have a well-behaved son...
Thinking of his grandson, Wang Tianxiao felt a pang of anxiety. His grandson was still in kindergarten, and he had always taken care of him. He wondered who was taking care of his grandson now that he was no longer there.
In this era, it's still possible for children from humble backgrounds to achieve great things.
For Wang Peng, his impoverished background was not an obstacle, but rather a driving force for his hard work. He knew that only by studying hard could he leave this poor place, change his future, and enable his parents to live a happy and prosperous life.
For children from poor families, education is the fairest and most successful path.
Wang Tianxiao thought about how he had been reborn and his family's financial situation would definitely improve. When Wang Peng grew up and realized he was living in a wealthy family, would he still have the motivation to strive for success?
Do you ever think that since your parents already have a certain level of ability, you can simply enjoy life without having to do anything?
"It's all hard to predict," Wang Tianxiao thought to himself.
Having lived a whole life, he naturally understands a fundamental truth: in this world, no one can truly change anyone else. The only person we can truly influence is ourselves, and even for many, changing themselves is incredibly difficult.
Therefore, it is not surprising if a child's development trend deviates from the original plan or from one's own expectations.
A child is a child, and he is himself.
He is just the child's father, not the one who controls the child.
A child has the freedom to choose his future life, and this freedom is not influenced or controlled by anyone, not even his father.
"I really want to see them grow up quickly."
Li Yali murmured.
Hearing this, Wang Tianxiao suddenly felt a pang of sadness. He unconsciously squeezed his wife's hand and said, "The children have their own paths to follow. What's more important for you is to take care of your own health."
Unaware of her husband's inner turmoil, Li Yali smiled gently and said, "Whatever happens to me, as long as the children and you are healthy, that's all that matters."
Wang Tianxiao couldn't tell his wife that she hadn't even seen her grandson born in her previous life, and he didn't want to continue talking to her about such a sad topic.
"Let Pengwa try to grab something when he's a month old."
"Hmm, so what do you hope your son will catch?"
“Me?” Wang Tianxiao was stunned. He really hadn’t thought about it. After thinking for a moment, he said, “Anything is fine. It’s good to be capable, but it doesn’t matter if you’re not capable. There are no hard and fast rules… or how people should live.”
"Yes, that makes sense, that's what I think too."
Li Yali felt more at ease knowing that her husband shared many of her thoughts.
She didn't know that many of Wang Tianxiao's ideas were actually influenced by her from her previous life. He was originally an extreme and stubborn man because of family issues, and the indifferent blood of the Wang family flowed in his veins.
It was because he met his wife that he was gradually moved by her gentleness and eventually became gentle himself.
