Chapter 118 What a tragedy!

Drowning a poor daughter is not just an angry outburst or a joke; such incidents are quite common.

Wang Tianxiao knew of many such cases. Many families considered daughters a financial burden, so they didn't want daughters at all, even feeling that feeding and raising them was a loss. If a girl was born, they would suffocate her in a vat and then bury her.

The ignorance of an era cannot be eradicated without the evolution of civilization and the regulation of law, and thus the rights of the weak cannot be guaranteed.

Everything needs time to prove itself.

When Wang Tianxiao initially purchased bedding, he prepared a set for each room, which was sufficient for temporary occupancy. As for any additional items needed later, each person could purchase their own.

After the rooms were assigned, everyone went back to unpack.

Li Guanping tidied himself up quickly and went to Wang Tianxiao's room to visit his sister. The two of them hadn't exchanged many words at the hospital last time, but this time they had a lot to talk about.

The relationship between Li Guanping and Li Yali is somewhat similar to that between Wang Tianxiao and Wang Tiancheng.

Although Li Yali was only five or six years older than Li Guanping, daughters from poor families matured early, so she had taken care of him since childhood.

Actually, it wasn't just him; all of Li's younger siblings were very close to their older sister, Li Yali. Their earliest memories were mostly of her being carried on her back.

Wang Fang sat in the corner of the kang (a heated brick bed), curiously observing Li Guanping.

"Fangwa, this is your second uncle. Quickly call him uncle!" Li Yali reminded her with a smile.

"What is an uncle?" Wang Fang asked in her childish voice.

"Hehe~" Li Guanping chuckled憨厚ly.

“Uncle is Mom’s brother,” Li Yali patiently explained to her daughter. “Pengwa is Fangwa’s brother, so uncle is Mom’s brother. Do you understand now?”

"Let me think about it."

She began to sort out the relationships on her fingers.

"Dad's younger brother is called Dada, and Mom's younger brother is called Uncle. Hmm, I understand."

She took a piece of candy out of her pocket, knelt down and moved over to her uncle, placing it in his hand. "Uncle, here's some candy for you."

Wang Fang especially loves sweets, so if she really likes someone, she's willing to share her sweets with that person.

Therefore, to verify someone's status in her heart, you can tell whether they have received the candy she offered.

"Uncle...don't eat it, Fangwa, keep it...eat it yourself." Li Guanping affectionately rubbed his niece's head. This was the second time he had seen his niece. The last time was at the hospital, when Wang Fang was asleep and didn't see him.

"Here, have some. I have more."

Seeing that her uncle wasn't eating it, Wang Fang helped him unwrap the candy and put it in his mouth.

“Just eat it. The child gave it to you, but you didn’t eat it. The child will think something’s wrong with you,” Li Yali said with a smile. She knew her younger brother’s personality; if you didn’t tell him several times, he wouldn’t understand.

Li Guanping then opened his mouth.

"Is it sweet, Uncle?"

"sweet."

"Hehe, yours is peach flavored, but I also have watermelon and strawberry flavors."

Wang Fang took out the remaining candy from her pocket and showed it to her uncle. Li Guanping looked at the jade doll, which was especially cute, perhaps because of its blood relation with his sister.

For a moment, I couldn't help but wonder when I would get married and have such a lovely pair of children.

"Uncle Liu, are you sure this thing will work?" Wang Tianxiao was in Liu Yuan's room at the moment. There were already quite a few people, and the only problem left was the tools.

To do something well, you must have the right tools.

A good farm tool can often make work twice as efficient.

Otherwise, you'll put in a lot of effort and still might not be able to do a good job.

When he left this morning, he asked Liu Yuan to help him make a farming tool for sowing seeds. When he came back just now, Liu Yuan said that it was finished and asked him to come and see it.

He was overjoyed and eager to see what mysterious tool Liu Yuan had created, but when he came over and saw it, he was stunned.

How should I put it, this thing in front of me looks somewhat familiar, yet also somewhat unfamiliar.

The object on the stool was a strange wooden box, roughly the size of a snakeskin sack. A handle extended from the side of the box, which could be cranked up and down, and there seemed to be a drawer underneath. He tried pulling out the drawer and discovered that the bottom of the box had many small holes through which light could seep in.

Suddenly, something flashed through his mind, and he finally remembered what it was.

Isn't that just a pesticide sprayer?

The box in the middle is the pesticide container, and the protruding handle on the side is the lever, which can be used to apply pressure. The pull plate can be inserted to add seeds, and pulled out to spray them.

The principle is simple and straightforward, with no technical complexity whatsoever.

"Uncle Liu, are you sure this will work?" He was skeptical, but Liu Yuan seemed very confident.

Liu Yuan smiled, took a puff of his pipe, and exhaled a thick smoke ring with satisfaction. "Whether it works or not, we'll have to try it to find out."

Wang Tianxiao thought about it and agreed.

If this thing really works, it can make things easier for the user.

Using this device is faster than sowing by hand, and the trajectory of the hand movement is much shorter, so that the arm does not get tired quickly from repeatedly making the same sowing motion.

He decided to give it a try; whether it was a mule or a horse, he would find out once he took it out for a spin.

He carried the seed-spreading tool to the warehouse, filled a box with dandelion seeds, and ran to the edge of the ridge to start cranking the handle up and down.

At first, there was no response, and he was getting disappointed. Just as he was about to go back to find Liu Yuan, the equipment suddenly started dropping seeds. The faster he shook it, the faster the seeds dropped. When he slowed down, the seeds fell more slowly.

It's actually quite useful.
