Wang Tianxiao originally wanted to take some time to have a good talk with Tiancheng about his unrequited love.
You can't force matters of the heart, and besides, he's still young and there's no rush for him to find a partner. He should be doing more meaningful things.
Wang Tianxiao didn't think love was cheaper than being a high-ranking leader, so he didn't think it was wrong for his younger brother to like a girl.
However, as the older brother, he felt that there were some things he needed to explain to his younger brother, and that it was his responsibility.
My younger brother is still young and may not be able to figure out what he really needs. If he makes the wrong choice, it may be too late to regret it.
He just didn't expect things to develop so quickly, completely disrupting his plans. Before he could even talk to his brother, he was already injured.
So while Mi Xiaoqing was out shopping, he decided to have a serious talk with Tiancheng; they couldn't delay any longer.
"Tiancheng, do you like Xiaoqing?"
Wang Tianxiao went straight to the point, without beating around the bush.
"Ah..." Wang Tiancheng's gaze was still following Mi Xiaoqing's back when he heard this and he was startled and a little embarrassed.
"Tiancheng, do you still remember your dream?"
"How could I forget joining the army and becoming a dashing soldier?"
"Do you know that if your leg were any more serious, you wouldn't have been able to pass the military physical examination?"
"Is it that serious?" Tiancheng was surprised.
"What do you think? I asked an expert, and they said it's fortunate that it was just a minor bone fracture. With proper rest, it can heal in a little over a month, and the surgical scar will be almost negligible. But you're lucky. If it had been slightly more serious, you would have lost the opportunity to join the army forever, you know that?"
Wang Tiancheng hadn't expected the problem to be so serious. He thought about it silently for a while, then asked his brother softly, "In that situation, shouldn't I have stepped in? Brother, didn't you say that in our dealings with others, we shouldn't stand idly by when they need help? Could I just watch her fall?"
"Tiancheng, ask yourselves honestly, did your reckless actions back then have nothing to do with her being the girl you liked?"
Wang Tiancheng was silent for a moment, then said sincerely, "Brother, I admit I have feelings for Xiaoqing, but that wasn't the main reason I saved her. I just thought about it, and given the situation, I would have saved anyone. Although I'm not a soldier yet, I believe any soldier would be like me—unwavering and never backing down when it's time to act!"
Wang Tianxiao stared at his younger brother in astonishment.
"Brother, are you worried that my crush on Xiaoqing will delay my enlistment?" Wang Tiancheng smiled slightly. "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. Enlisting is my biggest dream, and I won't give it up."
"And what about Xiaoqing..."
“A fair maiden is the object of a gentleman’s affections,” Wang Tiancheng sighed. “If you like someone, you like them. There’s no need to hide it. But I know she doesn’t like me. I’m just indulging in this moment of happiness.”
The boy turned to look out the window and said quietly, "After all, once I join the army, I may never truly like a girl like this again."
Wang Tianxiao looked at his younger brother, feeling both comforted and secretly saddened for him.
Perhaps, knowing that life is imperfect, and that we must give up something in order to gain something, is the true beginning of maturity.
Although his younger brother is younger than him, he has a kind of open-mindedness that most people don't have. Perhaps it is this personality that has allowed him to go further and further.
His worries were completely unnecessary.
But he also decided that once Tiancheng recovered from his injuries, he would no longer let him come to the mountains; once was enough.
He couldn't handle it, and his brother couldn't handle it a second time either.
.
Back at the station, Wang Tianxiao went to check on Dafeng after its injuries were treated. Thanks to Liu Yuan's care, its condition had basically stabilized, but it seemed a bit weak. When it saw Wang Tianxiao coming over, it struggled to get up, but Wang Tianxiao held it down and wouldn't let it move.
So he licked Wang Tianxiao's palm with his tongue.
"Take a good rest. You were very brave this time. You are a good comrade who can handle things. I would like to give you special praise and award you a ninth-class merit."
Wang Tianxiao has always had the habit of talking to animals.
In his past life, he patrolled the mountains alone, and his only companions were dogs. So he developed the habit of treating them as his partners and talking to them in a human-like tone.
The dogs, of course, didn't know exactly what he meant, but they could tell the general idea from his eyes and emotions, especially Ah Ying and Da Feng, who had been used to his rambling since they were little, as if they understood human nature.
Just like now, it knew that Wang Tianxiao was praising it, and its eyes immediately became more excited. Its tail, which had been lying limply on the wooden board, began to sway gently.
“Look at this beast. If I hadn’t taken precautions when I was stitching it up, it would have bitten me. Now it doesn’t even appreciate my life-saving kindness and ignores me.”
Liu Yuan said irritably.
That's what they say, but looking at how Da Feng handled it, you can tell how meticulous Liu Yuan is.
Wang Tianxiao had figured out this old man's temper; he was sharp-tongued but actually a very gentle person at heart.
He encountered a pregnant doe earlier, and in order to protect her, he was almost attacked and killed by honey dogs. This incident shows his character.
As for verbal skills, that's quite common.
In this day and age, many people have this habit: they don't know how to express themselves directly, but instead deliberately act as if they don't care.
Wang Tianxiao wasn't much better off.
He clearly loved his children dearly in his past life, but they saw him as a strict father, and that's why.
