Chapter 167...

Hold!

At this moment, the anger in my heart is like a hundred thousand alpacas galloping through the air. It was already right in front of me, and then this happened!

I've been lying in this pit for so long, my balls are aching from lying there. I can't let the sand monster I finally managed to lure away get away like this.

Just as the sand beast turned to run away, I flipped to the side, aimed my gun at the direction the sand beast was fleeing, and pulled the trigger.

"Bang!"

A blinding flame, accompanied by thick smoke, shot out rapidly from the muzzle of the gun, the deafening sound echoing throughout the rainforest, startling the birds on the branches into fleeing the area.

No matter how fast the Sand Beast is, it can't outrun a firearm made by humans. Although this shot didn't hit the Sand Beast's vitals head-on.

However, those golden bullets spread out in large swaths, making it difficult for the Sand Beast to dodge at such close range.

These extremely heavy gold particles, propelled by three times the force of high-nitrogen nitrated fiber, have their destructive power multiplied, with each one comparable to the power of a rifle bullet.

You know, when I was dealing with that lake monster on the lake, the shot I fired blew its entire head to pieces.

Just as I expected, the sand beast didn't walk two meters; instead, it collapsed on the spot.

I had planned to save a second shot for the final blow, but I didn't expect this weapon to be so powerful. It was so weak that it didn't even have the strength to move after being shot in the butt.

Although the chances of it making a splash at this moment are zero, I still dare not be careless. I took a gun in one hand and a spear in the other and went to the side of the sand beast, ready to finish it off at any time.

When I saw the honeycomb-like bullet holes on its body, I knew I had been worrying unnecessarily this time.

The lower half of the sand beast's body was beyond horrific; its intestines, mixed with blood, were spilling all over the ground, making it look like a rat that had been crushed by a car wheel on the road.

If something like this could still jump up and hurt people, then there would be no justice. But when I got closer, I realized just how terrifying the thing I created was.

The Sand Beast was killed with a single shot, and it passed away peacefully, without even taking a breath.

There was a cluster of dense, radiating holes on the front of the Sand Golem's chest. The preliminary assessment is that the bullet pierced through the entire body of the Sand Golem and then exited through its chest.

I can already imagine how terrifying the internal organs must be; it looks like I won't be able to eat any of them today.

The sand monster's eyes were wide open, its expression one of utter terror. It couldn't fathom how this strange, oversized monkey could possess such overwhelming power.

Besides fear, its eyes also held a hint of resentment and regret. It regretted not running away immediately after escaping with its life, regretted its overconfidence in its intelligence, and regretted even more for being my enemy.

But it's all too late. If you want to get rid of me, you should be prepared to be eliminated by me in return.

This is the law of nature: it's either you die or I die.

The skin of this sand monster is completely ruined, and I don't intend to waste time skinning it. The torso was also blasted beyond recognition by a close-range shot; it would probably blind you if you tried to pick out the gold dust with it.

So, as usual, I removed all four legs of the Sand Beast, leaving only its bare torso.

I'm not far from my lodging now. Once I leave this rainforest and return to the road I came from, it won't be long before I get home.

My basket is now full of animal hides, and even if it were just dried meat, it would weigh dozens of pounds. Now, even if I wanted to carry these four legs, I wouldn't have any hands to hold them.

So, as usual, I hung these four legs up on the tree, went back to unload my things first, and then used a basket to make one round trip to bring them all back.

Without the harassment of the sand monsters, Top and I made good progress on the next leg of the journey, and we finally arrived at my rock crevice dwelling a little after 11 a.m.

It feels so good to be home. Even these unassuming stoves seem so welcoming. After blocking the entrance as usual, I temporarily placed the dried meat in the deepest part of the crevice.

It's not good to just leave these jerky pieces on the ground. Although large animals can't get into my place, insects and ants can still get in. I need to make a storage cabinet when I have time.

After a day and a night of torment, the harpy eagle I brought back had lost all its temper. Now it was starving and just wanted to get some food to fill its stomach as soon as possible.

I had plenty of food, but the jerky was too tough for the harpy eagle. I put some water in a bowl and placed it in front of the harpy eagle, then untied the rope binding its mouth.

The harpy eagle was no longer as magnificent as it once was, probably because it had not eaten or drunk anything for a day and a night.

Upon seeing the bowl of water I brought, the harpy eagle immediately plunged its head into it and began to drink voraciously, indicating that it must have been extremely thirsty.

Come to think of it, ever since it flew up to that tree with Top and I captured it alive, this aloof fellow hasn't drunk any water.

I think if we had come back any later, this harpy eagle would probably only have been used to make a pot of harpy eagle soup with tears in our eyes.

After drinking water, the harpy eagle was noticeably better than before. After becoming more energetic, it still symbolically tried to peck at me with its beak.

However, the commotion was not as intense as before; it seemed more like the creature was trying to save face and wanted to do so in this way.

After walking for so long along the mountain path, Top and I were starving.

Previously, I used a blowgun to shoot down a few water birds that looked like wild ducks in that flash flooded stream. For preservation reasons, I also smoked and dried them and put them together with the meat strips.

I took out a waterbird that had been smoked until it was shiny and bright yellow, rinsed off the surface dust with water, skewered it with a stick, and placed it next to the earthen stove for later use.

Because I was so tired from the walk and my stomach was growling with hunger, I wasn't in the mood to slowly cook the ingredients.

After lighting the fire, while the waterbird was still damp, I rubbed some fine salt on the meat and placed it by the fire to roast slowly.

I went to the corner where the taro was piled up, picked out a few large ones, and casually tossed them into the fire. Simple ingredients require the simplest methods.

All I want now is to fill my stomach quickly and get a good night's sleep. It's only been a day, but my mind has been on edge the whole time, not daring to relax for even a moment.

Especially when dealing with the leader of the sand beasts at the end, I felt my body starting to feel a little overwhelmed.

Soon, the aroma of taro and the scent of the unknown water bird filled the air. I awoke from my drowsy state and said to Top beside me,

"Top, dinner's ready..."
