Chapter 405...

The dinner was simple: some roasted potatoes and jerky. Top was quite satisfied with the food; the potatoes alone were enough to bribe him.

Pat was the most dissatisfied, because all we had was jerky, which forced him to hunt other live animals to fill his stomach.

However, Pat's luck was clearly not very good today, as he only caught a snake that weighed less than a pound.

Pat skipped the tearing process altogether and swallowed the whole dead snake like he was slurping noodles.

After we finished eating, a wave of drowsiness washed over us. We sat by the campfire, leaning against the rock wall, and started to doze off.

Even the cautious Top was now dozing off because he was full.

They are currently inside a dwelling in a crevice in the rock, and the only exit has been blocked by a security door made of barricades, making it almost impossible to get in.

Safety has become a deeply ingrained principle in our minds, but what we didn't know was that shortly after we fell asleep, two red figures had already arrived outside my residence.

They were two of the more than one hundred Haru sent to assassinate Tang Yi, and they had been tracking him for a long time.

They only concealed themselves again after watching Tang Yi and the others enter the dwelling, intending to make their move later.

The main reason for doing this was to be wary of the weapons Tang Yi and his men possessed. Some of their members had already witnessed the power of shotguns and crossbows, and operating at night was the safest option.

Hearing the slight commotion inside, Han Sen was alerted, and the Haru began to move.

They tried to move the barricades blocking their way with their own strength, but little did they know that the barricades were connected to ropes and then fixed in a crevice in the rock with wooden sticks.

Unless they intend to open the door from the inside, it's virtually impossible for them to forcefully pull it open, given that even wild boars can't break this rope.

However, it's important to know that these Haru are not ordinary wild beasts. They possess intelligence comparable to ours, and can make simple judgments about problems and learn to solve them.

Soon, the Haru found a clumsy way to break through the barricade, which I had only considered to prevent wild animals from entering.

I never imagined that Haru would one day visit my home.

The method of assembling the chevaux-de-frise is still the oldest, using sturdy rattan woven together. This method has only one advantage: it's convenient, and it takes very little time to build.

However, the corresponding drawbacks are also obvious. The vines connecting the barricades are the lifeblood of the whole structure. If they are cut off, the entire barricade will fall apart.

Unfortunately, we weren't the only ones with tools. One of the men, Haru, pulled out an obsidian dagger and began cutting the vines.

This dagger with irregular serrations turned out to be even more effective than a knife, and in no time, several taut vines were snapped.

When a few vines snapped, the entire barricade collapsed. Three figures were revealed inside. They were breathing evenly, their chests rising and falling slightly, indicating they were sound asleep, completely unaware that intruders had broken in.

Haru's face immediately lit up with undisguised joy. They had been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. If these three people hadn't been asleep, it would have been a real problem to make a move against them.

Haru immediately called in the Haru who was still on guard outside. They each drew a jet-black obsidian dagger and walked towards our location.

Looking at the three men's heaving chests, imagining that hot blood would spurt out at any moment, their eyes blazed with a frenzied excitement.

This thrill of killing is ingrained in Haru's very bones; they derive immense pleasure from it.

The obsidian dagger was already raised high, ready to plunge into the hearts of the three sleeping people in the next second.

Just as the dagger fell, the three people who had been fast asleep suddenly looked anything but sleepy.

Susu was the fastest; she flipped over on the spot and slid in a zigzag pattern to get behind the Haru that attacked her.

At the same time, the knife already tightly gripped in his hand moved even faster, and the slide and the flash of the blade appeared almost at the same moment.

The next second, Haru was still a little stunned and hadn't realized what was going on when she felt an itch on her neck and subconsciously reached out to touch it.

The moment its hand touched its own neck, a jet of blood gushed out like a fountain, splashing onto the ground and turning it crimson.

Blood drained away rapidly, and the light in Haru's eyes quickly faded. It was somewhat resentful; it hadn't even made a move, nor had it clearly seen the opponent's actions, yet it was about to die here so inexplicably.

The other two Haru immediately realized what was happening and their first thought was to run away.

But they thought this was a vegetable market for old ladies, so they could come and go as they pleased.

"Susu, Dante, block the exit. Don't let a single one of you leave today, all of you stay here."

I already had my Nepalese kukri in my hand, and now the exit was blocked by Su Su and Dante.

We have three against two, so we already have the advantage in terms of numbers.

Out of caution, we have not chosen to engage in close combat with these Haru. Now that only two are still trapped here, it is a great opportunity to learn about their strength.

I leaned forward slightly, my hand already poised with the knife.

This is a beast technique that I conceived myself, combining the precision and ruthlessness of a falcon with the agility and explosive power of an ape.

Su Su and Dante were also seeing me use my beast techniques for the first time, and they immediately became interested. How good was this master, who could instruct others so skillfully, in close combat himself?

Susu and Dante didn't plan to rush forward to help. Susu had already sensed from their earlier exchange that these Haru weren't particularly strong.

They're just spies running errands; Master shouldn't have much trouble dealing with them.

At that moment, one of the Haru saw that its retreat was blocked, and immediately swung the dagger in its hand and stabbed at my face.

At this moment, my eyes have differentiated fifty moving points, and no subtle movement of Haru's limbs can escape my eyes.

Its slash looked like it was about to stab me in the face from above with a wild, unorthodox punch.

In fact, I had already noticed that the wrist was slightly deformed when it was stabbed, but it was not visible if you did not look carefully.

It knew I would dodge that strike. So the knife wasn't aimed at my face at all.
