The sand beast, whose main artery had been bitten by Top, went completely berserk, and its speed seemed to increase to another level in an instant.
Blood continued to spurt from its neck, turning the muddy ground crimson. This sand beast's vitality was even more abnormal than that of a wild boar.
It stubbornly dragged its bleeding neck to chase after Top. At this moment, Top's strength was also exhausted. With a powerful swing from the Sand Beast, Top was thrown away.
Just as it was about to run over and attack Top, I was dragging my injured leg and it was clear that it was too late to help.
Just as the Sand Beast had pinned Top to the ground, preparing to bite the poor little guy to death, it suddenly let out another mournful howl.
In a moment of desperation, I picked up the spear from the ground and threw it at the back of the sand beast. The spear was already firmly embedded in the sand beast's spine.
The spearhead of this spear was still forged using the same three-groove technique as the Type 56 triangular bayonet. The steel spearhead pierced deeply, and the sand beast's body immediately arched in pain.
Blood began to gush out from where the spearhead pierced the skin. Although the rate of bleeding was not as terrifying as the carotid artery that Top had bitten, the three blood grooves were no joke.
If the neck that Top bit at this moment is likened to blocking a faucet with your hand, then the amount of blood I bleed from this spear thrust is equivalent to turning on both faucets at the same time.
Large amounts of blood gushed from the Sand Beast's back, instantly turning the ground a deep crimson. The Sand Beast knew its days were numbered; it fixed its final gaze on me.
It dragged its equally badly injured body and began to walk towards me.
It wasn't moving very fast at the moment, but I had an injury on my foot, so I could only move slower than it. There was no way I could escape, so I simply stood still and gripped the Nepalese machete tightly in my right hand.
"Squeak squeak squeak!"
When Top saw the Sand Beast approaching me again, it squeaked anxiously and, ignoring its injuries, jumped up to grab the Sand Beast's hind legs.
But this time, the Sand Beast was no longer affected by Top. It kicked Top several meters away into the muddy water with its hind legs, and Top couldn't get up for a long time.
"Top!"
I gritted my teeth and glared fiercely at the beast in front of me, the Nepalese machete I gripped tightly in my hand gleaming coldly in the rain.
"Ugh!"
The sand beast let out a low roar, arched its body, and lunged at me with its last bit of strength.
At this moment, my face was ashen, and this scene seemed to bring back the moment when I used a wooden spear to deal with the first leopard.
My eyes were fixed on the sand beast leaping high into the air, and time seemed to stand still at that moment.
I could clearly see its angry face, its wide-open mouth, and its dagger-like fangs that reeked of a fishy stench.
One meter...
Half a meter...
Just as the sand monster's gaping maw, full of fangs, was less than twenty centimeters away from me, I suddenly turned my body to the side and swung my already charged Nepalese machete in a powerful semi-circle down.
Just then, the donkey-like head of the sand monster brushed past me, and my machete struck its nape at the perfect moment.
The greatest killing power of the Nepalese machete lies in its chopping. My machete, which weighs nearly two pounds, has all its weight concentrated on the curved surface of the blade. With the added force of pre-charged swing, the power of this strike should not be underestimated.
"Gulp!"
The Sand Beast landed with a thud. Its somewhat bewildered head slid off its body, splashing water everywhere.
Then, the massive body of the Sand Beast fell straight down into the mud. Thus, the two arrogant beasts were killed by Top and me.
I dragged my injured leg to Top's side. By then, Top had already gotten up, wiped the mud off its face, and grinned at me.
At that moment, I saw that Top also had several abrasions on his body, and one of his arms seemed to be twisted, so he walked with his arms raised in front of his chest.
Fortunately, its injuries were all superficial, much better than mine.
The wound on my left hand is still bleeding profusely, and there are still some dried agrimony herbs in my basket.
This herb has hemostatic properties. I took some out of the wrapped banana leaves, crushed it, and applied it to the wound. I also used banana leaves as a bandage to wrap my arm.
The bite may have injured the bone, because my forearm bones are throbbing slightly now.
Without a splint, I could only find four tree branches to place on my arm, secure them with hemp rope, and then tie them into a loop around my neck.
I sat next to Top, unsure of what to do next. More precisely, I didn't know how to deal with the wound infection.
I wasn't taking any chances. Given my current situation, especially in the rain, infection was inevitable. If it wasn't handled properly, I would still die from the disease, just a few days later.
After resting for a while, I said to Top,
“Can we still walk, Top? We need to get out of here quickly; other predators will probably be coming to check soon.”
Top pointed to the corpse of the sand monster on the ground, then to me and the monster itself. The meaning was clear: Top meant we could eat it.
Having spent a long time with me, Top already knows all the procedures I follow in my daily operations.
The situation is indeed quite urgent today. The ants are still nearby, and I don't know if the smell of blood here will attract them.
However, considering that both Top and I are injured, hunting may be more difficult in the future.
After much hesitation, I decided to take the risk and bring some meat with me.
Because of my left foot injury, I can only take a limited amount of flesh with me, so I can only take the most useful parts.
I used my machete to cut open the sand beasts, and the first thing I wanted to collect was their hearts, livers, spleens, and other internal organs.
I lost a lot of blood before. These organs are rich in iron and some trace elements that are essential for the human body to produce blood.
In order to get as much pure meat as possible, I cut them open and shaved off all the meat from their hind thighs and forelegs.
This guy, like a tiger or other ferocious beast, has no fat on his body, so it seems impossible for him to scavenge any fat that is equally important.
The meat and internal organs that were removed should weigh around 30 pounds, which I think is about right.
The smell of blood will likely attract nearby animals soon, so it's best to leave as soon as possible.
“Top, can you still walk? We need to get out of here,” I said, turning to Top who was standing beside me.
"Squeak!"
Top responded and dragged its injured foreleg a few steps to me.
The rain had lessened, and Top and I disappeared into the misty rain.
