Chapter 105...

Hearing this, it dawned on me. Those traps must have been found by these creatures; they were able to continue safely even after triggering them.

This is probably why the trap was triggered, but no wild animal roars were heard.

But these guys never expected that my third defensive trap could be triggered actively, combining with the previous traps to create a barrage of fire.

In this way, their attack rhythm would definitely be disrupted by the volley of arrows raining down from above.

The panicked beasts began to run wildly through the area riddled with traps. As a result, the number of beasts that fell into the traps increased.

After this round of attacks, it's estimated that quite a few beasts were killed or wounded, and the air fell silent once more. At this moment, these cautious creatures stopped again.

I scoffed inwardly. Let them stall for time if they want. I have plenty of time; the longer they drag it out, the more advantageous it is for me.

After dawn, you can wash your necks and wait to die.

I'm glad I set up the traps at the highest war level; otherwise, dealing with these cunning guys would have been quite a challenge.

Time passed by, and I went into the warehouse, scooped up a glass of wine and drank it. Then I took out a piece of dried roasted fish from the pile of food and ate it.

After eating and drinking my fill, I sat on the wooden bridge, illuminated by the flickering torchlight, gazing into the darkness in the distance, quietly awaiting the arrival of these cunning and mysterious creatures.

Another hour passed, and the wild animals became visibly anxious. I could hear constant pacing coming from the woods.

They hadn't expected such a troublesome thing to exist in this place, and for a moment they seemed to have no way to deal with my trap.

Whether driven to desperation or something else, these ferocious beasts began to go berserk. They ceased to be cautious and instead revealed their primal nature completely.

It must be said that these guys displayed an intelligence that was completely different from other wild beasts, even during their charge.

They knew that the trap above them was unavoidable, but if they continued to be so timid, they would be gradually devoured by the other two traps, and then they would be completely wiped out.

So after a brief decision within an hour, they prepared to rush through the area where the traps were laid in the most direct way.

I suspect they realized that the already triggered traps wouldn't harm them again, so they changed their strategy for this charge.

I must say that this beast is the most cunning and intelligent one I have ever seen. Its ability to learn in such a short time and its logical analysis skills are a testament to its strength.

I was soon shocked by their tactics again. This time, the third layer of traps was triggered very quickly, and the sound of whistling arrows pierced the air once more.

But to my surprise, only one whistle sounded.

Because I didn't know which beast would trigger the whistle alarm, I designed a whole circle of whistle devices at the very front of the next level of traps.

This time, surprisingly, only one whistle arrow was triggered, unlike before when several whistle arrows would trigger the alarm simultaneously.

But the tap-kicks that were rushing towards me were still going on, and my heart sank when I heard that. There was only one possibility: they were lined up in an orderly fashion and were charging towards me!

The biggest advantage of this formation is that it allows sacrificing a small number of beasts in front to trigger traps and for me to actively release arrows.

The beasts behind continued their attack along the safe route that had already been triggered by the traps.

In this way, with my trap aligned in a straight line, the threat to these cunning fellows is minimized.

Because they don't play by the rules, many of my passive traps don't even have a chance to trigger.

I am now utterly shocked. I never expected these guys to have such a tight, wolf-like formation and division of labor, coupled with their incredible intelligence, I feel that the situation has developed beyond my expectations.

Now, traps are being triggered layer by layer, and each time only one trap in a straight line is triggered.

The number of active arrow release ropes in my hand was consumed at an extremely rapid pace. In just half an hour, most of them had been used up, and now I only had five release ropes left.

Cold sweat poured down my forehead. I never expected these guys to be so crazy; even war-level traps couldn't stop them.

Moreover, I know that even actively triggered arrows cannot kill many wild beasts, because arrows, like traps, are radially distributed to maximize profits.

Facing a horde of beasts charging in a single line, my traps could only kill a small portion of the front line, just like those traps. Their tactic of attacking the whole area from a single point really made my traps useless against them.

Soon I could clearly hear the growling and howling of those wild beasts coming from my east. I couldn't let those guys go any further!

These guys are currently within my shotgun's firing range, so I pulled out a handful of those gold particle bullets and loaded two into the chamber.

Because the wild animals made a lot of noise when they came, I could tell their approximate location almost without looking at them.

Since you like standing in a row, then let's see how many layers of defense my shotgun can penetrate!

I stood on the wooden bridge, raised my gun, and fired two shots into the darkness.

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

The loud gunshots were like thunderclaps, scaring the monkeys closest to me half to death. The monkeys, who had never heard gunshots before, immediately started squeaking and screaming in terror.

As the gunshot rang out, a series of piercing screams echoed from the woods to the east. My shotgun shells were far superior to the arrows we'd received before.

Given the size of these beasts, unless they have the same hard armor as the lake monster, they will fall to my gun no matter how brave they are.

The intense gunfire and its power may have intimidated the beasts, for they stopped once again, too afraid to advance.

The two sides remained deadlocked for an unknown amount of time until dawn gradually broke. The reflection of the snow on the ground allowed me to see a large group of dark figures pacing anxiously back and forth in the woods to the east.

Are you in such a hurry to deal with me? If you're not afraid of death, come and try. I still have plenty of shotgun shells left.

I thought to myself, surely the power of the shotgun will at least be enough to deter these ferocious beasts.

But before I could even process that idea, those guys' madness once again exceeded my expectations. They ran even faster, practically charging towards me with reckless abandon.

"Holy crap! You can't do this!" I exclaimed, pulling down two ropes in quick succession, then a third, a fourth, a fifth...

At this point, half of my traps were broken, and they marched straight into my dwelling!
