“Sir, your Top is so thoughtful, just like Lo.” Dante took the roasted cassava Top offered, took a bite, and praised him sincerely.
"Yes, it has always been so sensible. We have walked a long way together, and Top has always been there for me."
I smiled, ate the cassava in my hand, and casually added some firewood to the fire.
"By the way, sir, where did you come from, and how far did you travel?"
Dante continued eating the food in the pot, asking me questions out of curiosity.
“We came from the south and it took us nearly two months to get to this area,” I said truthfully.
"Wow! You've come all this way, that must have been quite an achievement."
"That's right, we've almost died here several times."
At this point, I can't help but smile wryly. The memory of the sand monster attack and several other incidents is still vivid in my mind; each one was extremely dangerous.
As we ate dinner, it became completely dark. After this extravagant meal, everyone, true to the "Clean Plate Campaign," finished every last drop of food.
After eating and drinking their fill, their bodies had replenished their energy. Before everyone fell asleep, I thought it was time to take the wild boars back to their home.
I briefly explained the upcoming plan to Dante, who nodded and then relayed what I had said to everyone.
In addition to basic weapons, we brought three bio-flashlights for lighting and four glow sticks from the tribe when we came out.
Considering that flashlights are more useful for patrolling the tribe at night because they can see further, we left the rest of the flashlights in the tribe.
Right now, I have one, Dante has one, and Su Su has one.
At that moment, all the tools swayed back and forth in the air a few times, and familiar blue light began to emanate from the flashlights and glow sticks.
The tribe isn't very large. We need to find where those five wild boars are hiding before we can proceed with the next step of the tribe's deployment.
We took our lights and started wandering around the village, searching several places, but still couldn't find a trace of wild boar.
Undeterred, we continued searching the entire tribe, but even after checking the whole place, we still couldn't find any trace of the wild boars.
"Sir, do you think they're trying to escape?"
Looking at the wild boars that seemed to have vanished into thin air, Dante said with some uncertainty.
"That possibility should not exist. We saw it when we passed by the gate just now. The gate is still there and it's still intact, which proves that these wild boars are still in the tribe."
I can be sure of that, after all, the walls in this tribe to keep wild animals out are more than three meters high, and even with a running start, wild boars could not possibly climb over such high walls.
"Where else could they have gone? We haven't found any trace of them along the way."
As Dante spoke, he, like the other natives, used his flashlight to search for the whereabouts of the wild boars.
After thinking about it carefully, I realized that these wild boars were so big that the only place they could hide was inside the thatched hut.
Or perhaps they've been moving ahead of us all along; I think the second point is more in line with reality.
However, just to be on the safe side, we checked all the houses again, but still found no trace. It seems that only the second possibility remains.
Considering that these wild boars are very wary, continuing like this is not a viable solution.
So I divided the people into three groups: Su Su, Dante, and I were in one group, and the rest of the people were in pairs.
First, we scattered the four glow sticks for lighting from the main gate to various places. Since the lighting range of these glow sticks is limited, it is better to fix them in one place.
This way, it can act as one of our eyes in the dark, observing the surrounding activity. Whenever a wild boar passes by the glow stick, we have a chance to spot the herd.
In addition, each team was equipped with a flashlight, and we patrolled separately in a line. At this moment, it was as if we had cast an invisible net, and it was only a matter of time before we found the wild boars.
Sure enough, after we did that, even the wild boars, which were very good at hiding themselves, were now no match for us, with so many flashlights waving around and glow sticks sticking out for illumination.
At this moment, the wild boars lost their previous composure and became somewhat panicked, not knowing where to run.
But no matter how fast they are, they can't possibly outrun the speed of light. Soon, a glow stick stuck in the ground spotted a wild boar.
Then came the second, the third... all the way to the fifth, lined up and quickly passing through the glow sticks before disappearing into the dark night once more.
But this time it was no use; we've already seen their tracks, they can't escape.
At the same moment, three beams of light shot towards the five fleeing wild boars, following them closely and making it impossible to shake them off.
"Dante, use my blowgun to knock these wild boars out first."
As I spoke, I handed Dante the blowguns I had prepared beforehand, and instructed him that the blowguns without cotton wrapping were for dealing with the two smallest wild boars.
Because if the dosage of anesthesia is too high, it can cause significant damage to the animal's body. We are counting on these wild boars to go out and produce food, so we naturally cannot allow them to be in any unexpected danger.
Dante took the blowgun from his hand and said to me confidently,
"Don't worry, sir. With your blowgun, none of them will escape today."
As he spoke, Dante had already loaded a blowgun for anesthetic purposes into it. "This is a modified blowgun that I made from a poison needle. Now they can also be launched from the blowgun, just like the blowguns used by veterinarians."
Startled by the flashlight beam, the wild boars immediately began to scatter in all directions, with several even running rapidly towards us.
"Watch out! Everyone get out of the way!"
I was shocked to see this. These guys had been driven to a dead end and, disregarding their fear of people, charged towards us.
Even so, Dante and his companions seemed to take it all in stride and showed no intention of running away.
Then I heard that strange roar coming from the throats of the natives, the high-frequency sound waves even making the air tremble.
Just then, a dramatic scene unfolded as the wild boar, which was about to attack us recklessly, was about to attack us.
They seemed to have seen a ghost; some even slipped and fell to the ground, then quickly got up and ran away.
