Chapter 10: Heavy Rain Disaster

Nowadays, food is scarce, and crab meat is absolutely precious food. I obviously don't have any chance to get boiled crabs. There is not enough water and no pot, so the best way is to bake it, so that the crab meat will not be raw and cause parasites in the body.

So, I dug a big hole in the ground, piled relatively neat stones next to it, leaving a mouth, then put up a wooden pole, and pressed another layer of stones on it. I pulled off the huge crab legs, cut them into suitable sections with a knife, placed them on the wooden pole, and then found a larger stone to cover it as a lid, forming a closed stove.

Then take the charcoal that was burned last night, throw it into the opening just left, throw it into the big pit, and then keep fanning the charcoal to keep it in a high-temperature and closed state.

Over time, a sizzling sound began to come out from inside, and a fragrance began to emerge, the smell of cooked meat...

"Song Bailu, let everyone get up and eat." I shouted.

So Bai Lu woke up two patients who were still resting and came over here. They were also attracted by the fragrance, and Song Yingchun was drooling with greed.

When I opened the covering stone, the crab legs inside were already cooked. Since one leg can be used to make a lot of dishes, we ate it with great enjoyment. We used branches to push the crab meat out of the shell. Each mouthful was very satisfying, especially since we had been eating cakes, bread, biscuits and other things for several days. The taste was very mellow. Compared with the dried shark meat, it was even more delicious.

The only drawback is that it lacks some seasoning...

While eating, I noticed that Song Yingchun kept stealing glances at me from time to time. When she saw that I saw her, she immediately rolled her eyes.

"Song Yingchun, I have to remind you that when you recover from your illness, if you refuse to keep watch next time, you can't even think about eating any of the food I got. No one is born to serve you." I said.

"I ate some crabs from you and you started drinking a lot. You've grown up in vain and you're so petty." Song Yingchun said.

"Okay, Yingchun, go to bed after eating. More rest will be better for your wound. Stop arguing." Song Bailu said.

I was too lazy to pay attention to her, but there is no order without rules. I have to say what I should say and remind people of what I should do. There can be no exceptions. Being willful doesn't work well with me.

In the next few days, we basically ate crab meat at the beach. Since the weather has been cold recently, food doesn't spoil easily, so we ate it like this for a few days, and even two meals a day is basically not a problem. I had planned to catch some fish to supplement the food, but ever since I saw the killer crab, I dare not go to the beach to swim. If there is one, there will be two. It would be bad if I attract them again.

I could only look for good things on the other side, like climbing trees to steal some bird eggs, or looking for some wild fruits and vegetables in the mountains to supplement our scarce food, which I brought back on the way back and forth to collect mountain spring water.

Yingchun's injuries have gradually recovered in the past few days. After all, they were just some skin injuries. Although they were numerous, the inflammation subsided, and with the care of her sister, they were no longer a big deal. Yunwen's condition was not as good and she recovered a little slower, but she endured the pain and insisted on coming out early to collect firewood for us. Therefore, her wounds healed more slowly, but there was no sign of deterioration, which was a blessing for me.

It was also a strange thing. On the fifth night, the crazy girl Song Yingchun suddenly asked to keep watch. I didn't know if it was because of her sister's good teaching, but I arranged it for her and she gladly accepted it.

It was the night of the seventh day, and we were faced with a big problem. The crabs had been eaten up, and the biscuits were gone. We had basically no stored food. This was a big problem, and we needed to find a way to overcome it, otherwise we would all starve to death soon.

"How about catching another crab so that we can continue to eat crab meat soon?" Song Yingchun said.

"I wouldn't mind catching another one if you'll be the bait," I said.

"Is it not possible to talk about it?" Song Yingchun turned away.

"Let's not have any illusions. Killer crabs travel in groups. I don't know why only one came that night. It might have come out to explore the situation, or it might have been too hungry and smelled our scent, so it lurked nearby, separated from the crowd and became alone. But this is an accidental situation, and we can't have any luck with it, so we don't consider this method of killing crabs." I said.

"Then tell me, what should we do if there is no food? Are you going to turn into food?" Song Yingchun said.

"Yingchun, Zhou Bo is asking everyone for solutions to the problem. Let's talk it over, okay?" Zhang Yunwen said.

"Tsk...does he need your protection?" Song Yingchun sneered.

Just when I thought she had changed, I discovered that it is difficult to change one's nature, and that rotten mud cannot be propped up.

At this moment, there was a loud bang, thunder and lightning flashed, and the whole sky turned white for a moment.

I looked up and saw dark clouds covering the moon. The clouds were thick and oppressive, which was obviously not a good sign.

"It's really raining cats and dogs. It's going to rain soon. We have to think about where to hide from the rain." I said.

"The tent was damaged before, and we have no place to hide from the rain." Song Bailu said.

"I suggest that we all go over and get the hay and cloth from the tent. It can at least block some of the rain instead of getting soaked like a drowned rat," said Zhang Yunwen.

"I agree. Less watering is always good," I said.

We hurried over and there was a loud thunder, followed by a flash of dazzling white light, and then a continuous rumbling sound, which was particularly clear to hear in the wild.

And I also saw things that I shouldn't have seen in that white light, and heard sounds that I shouldn't have heard afterwards.

Ga g g g g....ga g g g...

The terrifying sound echoed throughout almost the entire coast. It turned out that they were not absent, but were waiting for us to get close to the coast before attacking!

Another thunderbolt struck, and I saw the entire coast was filled with the killer crabs, standing so densely packed that they looked like a long dam on the coast, so airtight that it actually felt unrealistic to me.

“Run…” My voice seemed to be stuck in my throat.

The girls were so frightened that they were speechless.

"Run!" I yelled.

When the girls reacted, we immediately ran back to the original direction. Everyone else ran fast, but Yunwen fell a little behind because her arm was hurting!

I had no choice but to hold her up, but this slowed both of us down, and the killer crabs were running towards us in groups.

"Zhou Bo, run! It's important to stay alive!" Song Bailu shouted at me. At this time, we were already quite far apart.

"Sister, don't worry about him. He wants to die for that woman. Why should we stop him? Can't we just run away?" Song Yingchun pulled her sister and galloped all the way.

Unfortunately, it rained again that day, and it got heavier and heavier. The bonfire was put out, and without fire, the killer crabs were even more overwhelming and fearless. They moved quickly, making rattling sounds, and were even more dense than the raindrops!

I got goosebumps all over my body...

Running in the rain, Yunwen beside me felt her breathing becoming more and more rapid, as if she was having trouble breathing.

"I can't take it anymore, Zhou Bo, just go away and don't worry about me..." Zhang Yunwen said while panting, then she suddenly broke free from my hand and pushed me away!

I turned around and saw the overwhelming killer crabs about to devour Yunwen, who was kneeling on the ground with her hands on her chest. A lightning bolt struck down and I could see Yunwen staring at me, looking unwilling, but helpless and desperate...
