I am used to planning before doing anything, starting from simple to difficult, and then breaking them down one by one, and then the organization becomes clear.
Yunwen and I have several main tasks. The first is to open the waterwheel channel and clean the sludge on the channel. This will make it easier to get water and irrigate the farmland. The second is to go to the cellar to investigate. Which of the two is easier? The former, after all, exploring the cellar is relatively risky, while the former is slightly easier to do.
So, I asked Yunwen to take care of Sanfu first and feed him enough fodder and water, while I felt around for the various parts of the waterwheel and the canal, and went to the back door and backyard to see the spring pool and the waterwheel. I saw the spring water gushing out from the mountain wall to form a small waterfall that continuously irrigated the aqueduct of the waterwheel. It should have fallen due to gravity, but the spring water filled two or three aqueducts, and they were all overflowing, and the waterwheel did not move.
I was a little curious, so I stepped on the water to take a closer look, and found that there was a large wooden gear in front of the third and second aqueducts closest to the water, and a round wooden pole was connected in the middle of the gear with a mortise and tenon method. I followed the round wooden pole all the way and unknowingly passed the house and arrived at a place in the front yard near the canal. I walked around and came back.
I couldn't help but smile bitterly. Is this a joke?
The tail end of the round wooden pole is still connected to a gear, and this vertical gear is also connected to a horizontal gear with teeth relying on each other. The horizontal gear stands near the channel, which is a rotating shaft. The rotating shaft gear is stuck by an iron rod. There is some distance between the front and back of the iron rod. I guess it is used to move the switch forward and backward.
So I moved the iron rod backwards, and sure enough, the channel on that end lowered. At the same time, the interlocking gears immediately opened up and began to turn with a clang. Looking at the other end, the waterwheel also started to turn, unblocking the stuck part. The waterwheel was no longer restricted by the gears, and could turn as the water filled the aqueduct. When the water in the aqueduct descended from the rotating waterwheel, it also began to flow into the canal, and water began to flow through the canal and flow down.
Hearing the voice, Yingchun ran out immediately and screamed in surprise!
"This waterwheel is connected to gear bearings. The designer must be a master of mechanics, right?" Yingchun said in admiration.
I've only heard her criticize others, but this is the first time she's praised someone with such admiration.
I also thought that the designer was quite talented, as he could use some mechanical principle to turn the waterwheel on and off at will.
The water flowing from the canal will soon flow into the land to form puddles. If the fields have been plowed and sown, and enough soil and water channels have been left in the fields, the irrigation work can probably be completed by just opening and closing them.
After that, I pulled the iron pestle switch again, and the channel rose a little, and the waterwheel stopped. Yunwen and I cleaned the silt and the like from the canal together, and used stones to remove the mildew on the wooden boards, scraping them hard, and then went to the waterwheel to clean it again, one aqueduct after another, and let Yunwen sit on my neck to clean the higher places.
Since the homework was all related to water, after finishing all of this, both of us were soaked, and Yunwen's clothes were soaked because of this, and her perfect slim figure was faintly highlighted. Her wet hair occasionally blew up, full of a certain degree of charm. I coughed, it was really not good to take advantage of her like this, and quickly looked away.
Yunwen covered her mouth and smiled, not really minding my rudeness.
After finishing these tasks, the waterwheel is finally done. In the future, there will be no problem in drawing water, irrigating fields, washing dishes and vegetables, bathing horses, etc. This function is better than that of the faucet. What's more, this is mountain spring water, isn't it purer than pond water?
After finishing all these, the first task was successfully completed. The second thing was what I valued more, which was the cellar I found last night. I had already marked it and roughly remembered the route, so the two of us set off with engineering shovels.
I sniffed the area near where I urinated last night, and was glad that there was no smell left. Otherwise, wouldn't it be embarrassing if Yunwen smelled me?
Walking to the left side of the yard, there were still quite a few wild wheat stalks with wild wheat ears on them. Both the stalks and ears were useful, so I kept them for now. I walked all the way to the farthest fence on the left. I saw the marks on the wooden boards of the fence, and since the stone was still standing there, I was sure it was nearby.
After digging the soil about 20 centimeters deep, we saw a wooden board blocking the entrance. We moved the soil around to prevent it from falling into the cellar. After it was almost done, we continued digging and dug up all the soil that the board touched. Then we lifted the board and a cave was revealed underneath.
"I'll go find a torch." Yunwen said.
"Okay, take two big ones and one small one will do." I said.
"Um."
So Yunwen went to the wooden house and got torches, just as I instructed, two big ones and a small burning twig. I first helped Yunwen to a farther place, threw the burning twigs into the cellar, and observed the changes. If it exploded, it meant that there was more methane in the air. If it went out immediately, it meant that there was more carbon dioxide, which was not good for people to go down, and it was very easy for people to lack oxygen and faint in the cellar.
However, the burning of the small dry branches in the cave neither caused an explosion nor went out immediately. Instead, it was vague and swayed for a moment. This surprised me deeply. But since the fire would not go out immediately, it meant that the oxygen content in the air was sufficient, so there would be no danger in going down.
But to be on the safe side, I still went down first with a torch. But before going down, I tied a rope around my waist so that if I was in danger, Yunwen could call other girls to pull me out of the cellar immediately.
After some preparation, I went down with a torch. There was a wooden ladder on the way down, so I went down without any hindrance. After about twenty steps, I reached the ground of the cellar. I roughly calculated that one step was about 25 to 30 cm, which means that the height from the ground was about five or six meters. Was it dug so deep?
Then something even more surprising happened. I actually felt a chill and my clothes became wrinkled, which meant there was wind underground!
"Is this a cellar? I hope it's not another wormhole. It would be so scary." I couldn't help but wonder.
However, I soon dispelled my doubts because there was a light not far ahead, and the fire had not been extinguished for a long time. In addition, I deliberately listened to the wall for a long time. My ears are sensitive. If there is something inside the wall, it will never escape my ears. If there is something in front, I can roughly hear the sound of footsteps when I listen to the wall, even if the sound is weak.
But there was nothing. The only thing that could be heard was the incredible sound of wind. Not only was it possible to stay down there, but the air was also quite good, so good that one could even smell a slight fragrance.
It seems everything is fine.
"Yunwen, come down and be careful." I said.
"Okay." Yunwen responded from above.
Soon she came down, and when she reached the last step, she almost missed a step. I hurried over to support her, and she lay in my arms, and my hand touched her slender waist. Both of our faces turned red, and I actually had a feeling of getting what I wanted, which was really a bit obscene to say.
"How long do you want to hold me? Are you still doing your business?" Yunwen asked in a tender voice.
I coughed, quickly let go, and said, "Sorry, of course I will do it."
She smiled, then walked past me, sniffed, and exclaimed: "It smells so good here, like the scent of incense used by the ancients, something called Dragon's Birthday Incense."
