"Why did you give it back to me?" I asked it.
I thought I was talking to an orangutan and it was a nonsense, but at this moment I saw him pointing at me, then extending his thumb and little finger at the same time, one forward and one backward, tightening the rest of his fingers, then pointing at himself with his index finger, and finally extending his index and middle fingers, with his fingertips pointing downward, moving alternately one forward and one backward.
I was a little confused, but Yunwen figured it out immediately and said in my ear: "It's using sign language, which means 'you follow me'."
This is outrageous! A gorilla can actually understand sign language? And there are only a few of us on the island so far, so who could have taught it?
"Do you know sign language? Please ask it where we are going? Is it trying to trick us into going to a sacrificial ceremony?" I said.
Yunwen nodded, moved a little closer, and made a few gestures. The leader gorilla responded with a few gestures. Yunwen translated: "It told you not to worry, it will be safe to follow it."
For now, even if it is lying to me, I can only believe it, because there is no other way. If I choose to refuse or run away, this is not only the territory of the gorilla, but also a place I don’t understand. In addition, I am now weak and cannot withstand too much escape. Therefore, I have no choice but to try to believe it.
"Tell it that we believe it, but if it dares to lie to us, I will kill it at all costs," I said.
Yunwen gestured in sign language for a while, and this time I could understand it without the need for a translator. It nodded readily, then turned around and walked in front with fist steps to lead the way. The other gorillas followed. Yunwen helped me up, and we followed together.
In addition to following them along the way, I also tried my best to keep my eyes and ears open to prevent them from deceiving us. I was able to react immediately and find conditions that were favorable to me.
The road is rugged, and there are many paved stone roads on the top of the mountain. You can see a lot of rocks and stones. The trees grow in strange shapes like claws. Some are very tall, and some are very short. It is rare to see trees with similar heights. There is also some purple grass around, which emits a smell that is both fragrant and pungent. I'm afraid even Bai Lu doesn't know what this thing is.
After walking a short distance, we arrived at a cave. The leader gorilla took me into the cave. Along the way, I found that its fur color was different from that of other gorillas. It was gray-black with silver. It is said that the silverback gorilla will only form a silver back after adulthood, just like people will grow white hair when they get older. The principle is similar.
This leader gorilla must be quite old, so I’ll call him Old Gray.
Lao Hui led a few of his followers and took us into the cave. There were many gorillas in there, big and small, old and young. There were also young gorillas who immediately hid in their mother's arms when they saw Yunwen and me. When I saw them, what came to my mind were the refugees I met when I went abroad for the last time to perform a mission.
The cruelty of war has deprived them of the right to live a happy life, but at this moment, the women, children, and young people in these gorilla groups look somewhat similar. I don’t know if I am overthinking or if the scene brings back sad memories.
The cave was getting darker and darker as I walked. I could only listen to the sounds ahead to know where the road was. I had to rely on listening to the sounds to determine my position on the ground and the geographical conditions here. I also had to protect Yunwen and ask her to follow me carefully.
But soon, after we passed through a long and narrow cave passage, we heard the sound of a stream waterfall and trickling water. Then we began to see light in front of us. The moonlight could penetrate into the cave, and the road became relatively clearer. We could see wet cave walls all around, and many stalactites were visible on the top.
After passing this road, there is a stone door. Lao Hui pushed it open with his palm. The stone door made a loud grinding sound, and fire immediately emanated from the stone chamber. The smell of dragon incense also wafted in. This was almost the same scene as when Yunwen and I discovered the tunnel, with the same configuration of eternal lamps and dragon incense.
Lao Hui led us in, and then made a few sign language gestures to Yunwen. Yunwen looked at it for a moment and said, "The sign language it used is a bit ancient, but it should be telling us that they will be waiting for us outside."
"Are you going to lock us up here?" I wondered.
This Yunwen did not translate, and at this time Lao Hui pounded his chest and cried a few times, and its followers immediately scattered. Not long after, they carried my blunt sword [Jinque] and put it on the ground, obviously returning it to me specially.
It's a gesture of goodwill.
Lao Hui turned around and prepared to leave the stone chamber with his followers. No matter what, it returned my self-defense weapon. Giving a warrior a weapon is giving him the right to live. This has fully expressed its intention. It has no ill intentions.
Before it left, just as it was about to close the stone door, I stretched out a hand towards it, raised my thumb, and bent it twice.
This means thank you, but unexpectedly, at this time, the old gray man whimpered twice, then his left hand made a palm, his right hand made a fist, and crossed his hands in front, with his left hand wrapped outside and his fist inside, and he half bowed his body, which is the so-called bow. The so-called women say good luck and men bow, this etiquette is left over from our ancient times.
I didn't expect that an old gray ape could do this, which made me feel confused and disoriented for a moment.
After bowing, it went out and closed the stone door.
"Is it really a gorilla? Why do I feel like it's an old man?" I couldn't help but mutter.
Afterwards we explored around in the stone chamber and found a river outside it that led to the downstream. I remembered that the Golden Sword was hidden in the spring pool in Taiqiong Cave, so it seemed that the water used was from here. In addition, there were many ancient books here. Yunwen was picking them up one by one and reading them in the candlelight. I couldn't understand them, so I could only wander around to kill time.
At this time, I saw a sword hanging on the wall. It was a waist sword commonly used in the Ming Dynasty. The slightly curved handle was somewhat similar to the Japanese Kou Dao. Was it a Yanling Sword? I was puzzled.
But at this moment, a voice suddenly came from behind: "It is a waist knife worn by the Imperial Guards or the Embroidered Uniform Guards, called the Embroidered Spring Knife."
The sudden sound startled me, and I took a few steps back. When I saw it was Yunwen, I relaxed a little. Yunwen smiled and said, "Just now I thought you were fearless, but I didn't expect you to be so scared."
"Of course, when suddenly startled, everyone will be frightened according to human instinct. It's normal." I explained my embarrassment.
"Really?" Yunwen asked playfully.
"You don't believe it? Why don't you try it?" I said.
"How do you want to try it?" Yunwen looked at me with a smile.
"What do you think?" I said, and then went towards her.
She pretended to be frightened, screamed and ran away, and I chased after her. She said "stop it", but with a smile on her face, she was also eager to play. So she ran and I chased her, and the two of us chased and played and laughed non-stop. In this closed place where there was no one around, where only men and women were alone, we played without any scruples.
I let her go for a long time, then I hugged her and put my hands against the stone wall so that she could not hide from me.
I was panting, and I was panting. We were in this stone room, our faces were closer than a fist. Her cheeks were red, and she bit her lower lip out of habit. She looked at me with her big eyes and said, "What do you want to do?"
I swallowed my saliva, and my body was surging with heat. I said, "What do you think..."
She pursed her lips and smiled, and said tenderly: "I'm not a worm in my stomach, how would I know?"
My breathing became more rapid, my heartbeat obviously accelerated, I slowly reduced the distance between my elbow and the wall, and moved closer to her. She also sprayed Lanfang in her mouth, a little nervous, and slowly closed her eyes. My nose was filled with her fragrance, and I was about to touch her lips...
Suddenly, a violent noise was heard outside, and the stone gate shook violently!
