"Water..." Yunwen made a sound again.
I quickly put away my dirty thoughts and focused on saving people.
So he continued in the same way, catching water with his hands and using his mouth as a medium to send the water into Yunwen's mouth. He did this several times before Yunwen stopped muttering.
After these few times, my nose was filled with her feminine scent.
After her mouth was no longer thirsty, I had to find another way to help lower the high fever on her head. I could only take off the underwear I had been wearing, pour rain water on it, wring it out a little, and then put it on Yunwen's forehead to cool it down physically. I had to do this several times, and it was really tiring.
After several times, Yunwen felt much better. In addition, the fire had been warming us for a long time. In the second half of the night, our clothes were dry and still a little warm. I put her clothes on her. It was a bit strange to do these things to a grown girl, but since it was a matter of life and death, I didn't care about etiquette.
After she was dressed, I used my legs as a pillow for her and covered her with my coat. As she was so close to the campfire, her condition did not worsen. I touched her forehead and found that the temperature had dropped a lot. Finally, her life was saved.
After settling her down, I was just about to take a break, but then I faced another problem: there was not enough firewood. Everything that could be burned in the cave had been burned out, and the fire would soon go out because there was no combustible material.
I had no ability to save the fire and could only watch it spread.
After the fire was extinguished, the temperature inside the cave began to drop sharply, and Yunwen showed signs of shivering again. There was nothing I could do. It was not that I wanted to take advantage, but when we were outside, I had no choice but to continue to preserve each other's body temperature.
I walked over, lay on the ground sideways, and hugged Yunwen from behind, thinking to myself, it’s so dark that I can’t see anything, so I should just ignore it.
"Hold me tight..." Yunwen's sweet voice came.
My face started to heat up again.
"No...are you okay?" I asked carefully.
"Hmm..." Yunwen replied in a low voice.
I swallowed my saliva and couldn't help but increase my strength, holding Yunwen's soft body even harder in my arms. She put her hand on the back of mine, and I could hear her uneven breathing caused by nervousness.
I have to say that I enjoyed it a little. It would be hypocritical to say that I didn't enjoy it, having such a woman with a perfect figure and a beautiful face lying in my arms.
Silence is better than words at this moment. The two of us understood each other tacitly and did not speak.
But at this moment, my keen ears seemed to hear some sound, the sound of something moving on the floor, and two seconds later, I let go of Yunwen, sat up, pulled out the bayonet and pointed it into the cave!
"What's wrong?" Yunwen asked.
"Snake! I heard it spitting out its venom," I said.
"Ah? Then let's leave quickly. It's so dark, we might be strangled and swallowed by the snakes." Yunwen said.
"The rain outside has stopped, and some night hunters are about to go out. If we go out now, we will probably be bitten to death and torn to pieces by them," I said.
Now I understand where those human bones I touched came from. They were done by the snakes in this snake cave. It seems that many people who fled to this island were buried here in the snake's mouth.
"It's all my fault. I shouldn't have let you come with me. Now you're going to die with me. Alas..." Yunwen sighed sadly.
"The most basic rule of survival in the wild is survival of the fittest. This is the most basic awareness. It has nothing to do with you or not, so don't blame yourself," I said.
"Hmm..." Yunwen sobbed again.
Before I could comfort her, I heard the sound of the snake getting very close. It was so close that my hair stood on end and I immediately became alert.
Judging from the sound, it is at least as thick as my thigh, and the sliding sound is continuous and long. It is obviously a giant python of considerable length. It is now spitting out its tongue at me, its tail swinging a little quickly, and there is a sound of its upper body rubbing back and forth against the wall of the cave. It is obvious that it is on guard, testing, and gathering strength, ready to attack me at any time.
I also changed the way I held the bayonet to deal with its attack. My movements were very small, which was almost like a static state for it. Although it smelled human scent, it continued to test me when it saw that I did not run or move. Snakes are cautious and suspicious when hunting, and they will not easily launch an attack if they are not sure.
I faced it, knowing that it was a matter of life and death. Like I said myself, a small mistake could lead to a huge difference.
It is impossible to survive if I just try to survive. Now I can only rely on what I have learned in my life to cope with it...
"Is it coming?" Yunwen asked.
The sound of this question immediately stimulated the python. I heard its tail swaying with a little excitement, and I realized that it must have not eaten any living things for a long time and was hungry, so it was restless. At this time, its tail suddenly stopped swaying, and I heard something rubbing backwards against the cave wall.
It's going to attack!
"hiss!"
It pounced towards me, and from this angle the moonlight could see it with its bloody mouth, biting towards my head!
Since I had already predicted its attack trend, I must have had a corresponding strategy. I took a quick step back and it missed my bite. This was the only gap I could find. I immediately rushed forward and strangled its neck with my left hand, making it stick close to my chest. I then used my right hand to add strength, forming a so-called "guillotine" in fighting, and pinned it down.
The snake kept shaking its head with great force. I was thrown back and forth against the wall of the cave, hitting my ribs and almost giving me a stitch in the side!
This was not a solution, so I had to loosen my right hand, took out the bayonet and stabbed its head hard. It swung harder and this time it threw me out directly...
I was thrown to the ground, in a terrible state.
But the snake had been driven mad by the blow to its head, and was struggling everywhere. One could hear the blood flowing out, and there were constant ping-pong sounds in the cave, which lasted for half an incense stick of time. Finally, one heard it collapse to the ground, and there was no movement around it.
After it died, I was afraid it might be faking its death, so I waited for a while, but it was dead anyway.
It relied on the geographical advantage here. I guess it had eaten many people. Generally, snakes are cautious and timid, and will not easily come out of the hole to confront people, unless I took the snake eggs or threatened its life. But no, it took the initiative to attack, and it dared to do so because it had tasted the sweetness before.
It ate a lot of people this way, and probably never thought that one day it would be killed by someone, and the cycle of revenge would continue...
Because of the snake, Yunwen and I didn't sleep all night. We simply didn't sleep and stayed at the entrance of the cave, waiting for dawn. After the snake died, it was not far from dawn.
After daybreak, I took out the snake gall. Yunwen happened to have inflammation, so the snake gall could help clear away heat and toxins, and resolve inflammation. As for the other snake meat, I didn't dare touch it too much. I heard that it contained a lot of bacteria and even parasites. I was afraid that improper handling would cause a worse disease.
The snake's blood and rotten meat would attract vultures and other scavengers, so I carried the snake out and threw it away, trying to cover up the smell.
Then, I cleaned the snake gallbladder in the stagnant water, made a stand with some wood and stones, and placed it on the charcoal to bake it, trying my best to remove the parasites on it, and finally let Yunwen take it.
After dealing with all these, I was exhausted and my body could not withstand any more exertion. Fortunately, Yunwen was in better health and I was not too worried. So we rested in the cave and had a good sleep.
During the day, with the sun, the temperature in the cave rose, and it was not so cold when I slept, which made me feel much more comfortable. Not long after, I fell asleep. After such a night of tossing and turning, I almost forgot about the Song sisters...
