Chapter 5 Heartache

"That's amazing!" Leng Fengmei couldn't help but exclaim.

Rinse the other one with water and place it near Hanhan's mouth... "Hanhan, open your mouth and eat it, and you'll be fine!" Leng Fengmei said as she put the crystal core into her daughter's mouth. Soon, the wounds on her body healed, and there were no scars left!

This once again proved the miracle.

Leng Fengmei suddenly realized that the rats weren't a disaster, but a treasure!

What to do? A restless heart is stirring, I really want it!

I pulled Xin Xin over to check her over and thankfully there were no injuries. At the same time, I felt an indescribable sense of fear. Thank goodness, she was still there!

When I relaxed, I realized that I was in pain all over my body. It felt like a piece of flesh had been torn off my leg, and I had been bitten on the arm. My back, stomach, and buttocks were in inexplicably embarrassing places!

The big black cat lay there lazily, wondering if the other cat could understand it.

I originally wanted to eat a crystal core, but when I looked at the wound again, it was slowly healing. Although it wasn't as fast as eating the crystal core, the wound had shrunk!

Leng Fengmei should pour some wine to disinfect it; the rats are too dirty.

It was already past 11 p.m., and after such a terrifying night, seeing the two children who were extremely frightened, we decided to go home and rest.

Leng Fengmei glanced at the big cat, "Why don't you come home with me?"

Unexpectedly, the big black cat nodded at her!

I don't know if it's just my imagination, but it seems like the big black cat's green eyes lit up a little when it heard "take her home".

Maybe I'm just too tired!

Leng Fengmei carried Xinba on her back and let her two daughters sit on the big cat. Xinba was severely exhausted. Although his wounds had healed, he had lost too much blood and had no strength left.

"Thank goodness I have superpowers, otherwise I would have been dead long ago," Leng Fengmei couldn't help but sigh.

And so, the two of them, one human and one cat, ran swiftly through the dark night, their speeds almost identical. It felt like they arrived home in just over ten minutes. They gave Hanhan's bed to the big cat and poured it a basin of water. The four of them slept in the big house with the connecting beds, so it wasn't too cramped.

Xin Xin fell asleep immediately, but Leng Fengmei was wide awake. In fact, she was afraid to sleep because of the strange and unfamiliar cat. Her long-standing habit made her more wary of everyone, even though the cat had saved her family!

She knew it wasn't good, but her past experiences made her body instinctively reject it.

I went to the bathroom, and only after I came back, closed and locked the bedroom door could I finally fall asleep peacefully!

midnight!

Xin Xin and Han Han woke up several times from their sleep. There was nothing they could do but hold the little one with one arm and pat the big one with the other, and drifted off to sleep until dawn.

The buzzing of the phone woke everyone up.

It turned out they were installing windows. Leng Fengmei wondered if they hadn't encountered any mutated animals.

Little did people know that the mutated animals feared sunlight during the day, which gave humans a glimmer of hope!

She quickly got up and started cooking the rice. She also made sweet and sour pork ribs, stir-fried shredded potatoes, and cucumber salad...

These were all saved for the Lunar New Year, but things didn't go as planned. Before I could even finish cooking, the window maker arrived.

The two children went to play in the room where Dahei was sleeping. Leng Fengmei closed the door and told them not to come out.

Xin's father accompanied the two installation workers during the installation.

Seeing that they didn't need him for the installation, he started chatting: "Didn't you say you were coming last night? Why didn't you come?"

"Ugh! Don't even mention it. I'm telling you, don't go out at night. They say animals are mutating too. My relative who works at the police station told me that. But it's fine to go out during the day. They say animals are afraid of sunlight and ultraviolet rays!"

Dad: "Oh! Really?"

"It's absolutely true, and I expect this news will be announced soon!"

Dad: "Then we really can't go out. No wonder the government issued a notice on my phone saying we shouldn't wander around."

"It's really not easy to live these days. Okay, that's a job done. We have to go to the next one."

Leng Fengmei thought to herself, "It's not just the fear of panic, but also the fear of having resources seized. Power always has to be in the hands of a few, doesn't it!"

After seeing Xin's father see them off, Leng Fengmei went to call the children for dinner and drew the curtains while she was at it. She had overheard them saying that mutated animals are afraid of sunlight. She watched as the big black cat looked up at her and then listlessly lay back down.

"I want to go check out the place where the rats are later," Leng Fengmei said softly.

Song Chengyang: "How about I wait until I feel better and then we go together?"

"No need, I'm just taking a look. I'll call you if there's any danger, and then you can bring Dahei to me," Leng Fengmei said.

He was used to his wife's domineering nature, and besides, it was indeed easier for her to get away on her own.

"Okay, then be careful!" Dad thought for a moment and then said, "I'm going out today to look at cars."

"Let's buy a few more backpacks while we're at it, for when we move!" The two of them used all their savings to buy this as their own, and now they're going to have to live a nomadic life again. Even though they have superpowers, animals have become so powerful, let alone other people!

Especially after her family narrowly escaped death yesterday, she saw reality more clearly. People must have self-awareness, a lesson she learned after hitting a wall countless times!

"I've finished eating. You two stay home!" Looking at her two daughters, Leng Fengmei sighed softly, "It will be difficult for you to stay home from now on."

After getting dressed, I put on my half-person-high travel backpack, filled it with a bottle of water, and also took the remaining rat crystals from yesterday. I picked up my phone, but the intermittent signal made my heart race.

Just a few steps downstairs, there were only a few busy figures.
