Chapter 185 Underground Trading Market

By the moonlight, the soldiers stationed there could see the person in the off-road vehicle: Yin Chuan, the current captain of the A City base's superpower team.

They quickly saluted Yin Chuan, "Captain Yin."

Yin Chuan nodded to the two men in the car, his face remaining expressionless, before pulling his head back in. The middle-level door opened, and the entire convoy drove into the middle area one after another.

Sitting in the back, Lin Ruo stroked his chin. This person is the captain of the superpower team? Level 3 wind-type superpower is indeed top-notch among these people.

Once inside the middle level, Lin Ruo jumped out of the car. She stood there and spread her mental energy out to its fullest extent, circling the middle level once more, but still couldn't find it. She frowned, wondering if Fang Ling had lied to her.

She turned her head to look at the southwest corner of the middle floor, where there was an underground trading market.

She didn't want to experience the hardships she faced while searching for Jiang Haochen again, so she decided to take a shortcut. She didn't want to stay in City A forever. Her Crystal Energy Cannon would be ready in a little over a month.

She first found a secluded corner, removed the invisibility water membrane from her body, and then took out a mask from her spatial storage and put it on her face. Only then did she quickly move forward, following the route she had previously explored with her mental power.

The trading market was not far from the middle-level gate, only two kilometers away. Lin Ruo arrived at the entrance of the trading market in just one minute.

The market was crowded with people. It was a long street lined with small, square shops on both sides. The street was wide, so there were also some stalls set up outside the shops.

For illumination, a large torch was stuck in the wall every fifty meters. The light was dim, and it was still somewhat dark in places far from the torches, but for these survivors, it was much better than being completely blind.

While these torches could enhance visibility, lighting them in this extremely hot environment also resulted in very high temperatures within the trading market.

Every now and then, a patrol team passes by, which indirectly increases the safety level here.

In the previous life, the underground trading market belonged to the base. Later, it was managed by a mental ability user in Lin Ruo's ability team. This person's ability was very special. She could use her ability to distinguish the truth or falsehood in other people's words, making her a veritable human lie detector.

Of course, she is definitely not the one in charge of this underground trading market right now; she probably hasn't awakened her superpowers yet.

Lin Ruo walked into the market. In this apocalyptic world, people seemed to be working even harder to promote their products, and there were loud shouts everywhere.

She weaved through the crowd, looking at the stalls on both sides. Most of them sold daily necessities, but the items on these stalls were in small quantities and sold at relatively low prices, which made them more attractive.

Lin Ruo had everything in her space, and she only glanced at these things. Suddenly, she saw a stall selling handicrafts. The stall owner was a woman, and there was a man sitting on the ground next to her, leaning against the wall. He must have come with her. The man's face was covered with a thin piece of animal skin, and he seemed to be sleeping.

This man has abundant vital energy. Although he is not a superhuman, he is very skilled. The animal hides on the woman's stall were probably made by him.

The woman held a bone needle made from animal bone and kept threading it through the animal hide.

Lin Ruo thought of the cloth bag she used to wrap medicine powder for Afu and Ashou, which always leaked out very quickly because of the rough stitching. She couldn't help but stop in front of this woman's stall.

The man sitting inside the stall removed the animal skin from his face, opened his eyes, and looked at Lin Ruo in front of the stall. He sensed a dangerous aura emanating from this woman.

Lin Ruo glanced at him briefly before looking away and continuing to examine the items on the stall.

When the woman saw someone standing in front of her stall, she immediately smiled. Her face was tanned, but her cheeks were plump, suggesting she was doing well. "Hello, what would you like?"

Lin Ruo's gaze swept across the woman's stall and she saw a handbag made of soft animal hide in the corner. She picked up the handbag and noticed that the stitches on the bag were fine and dense. She scanned it with her spiritual power and found that the stitching technique seemed to be somewhat different.

"This is a handbag I made. It can be used to carry small items that I need to access frequently."

Seeing that Lin Ruo was only looking at the handbag without saying anything, the woman tentatively made a recommendation. Lin Ruo nodded and asked, "How much is this?"

The woman smiled happily, "Everything on the stall consists of five pieces of a level 1 crystal core. Would you like to take a look at anything else?"

Lin Ruo shifted her gaze to the side and finally picked out four small items made with different needlework techniques. Then she took out a level 1 crystal core from her backpack and handed it to the woman. As the woman accepted the crystal core, she smiled and said, "You have a good eye. These are all made with different needlework techniques."

Lin Ruo nodded without saying anything, put the things into her backpack, and turned to leave.

Turning around, she clearly heard the woman happily sharing her success with the man, "Honey, look, someone finally bought my stuff!"

Then came the man's steady voice, "My wife is amazing." Although the words were short, you could hear the doting affection in his tone.

Lin Ruo raised an eyebrow. It seemed that not everything in the apocalypse was backstabbing. Li Wei treated his wife and children this way, and this man was the same. Thinking back to the woman who sold her fruit, it seemed that she was also trying to buy medicine for her husband.

But how much of this genuine affection can remain in a life-or-death situation? Lin Ruo's smile carried a hint of irony; the human heart is the most untrustworthy thing.

She had only taken a few steps when she reached a place without torchlight. A man walked towards her, his steps unsteady, as if he were drunk, swaying from side to side.
