Lin Ruo raised an eyebrow, already guessing his answer, but she sneered inwardly. Did he think he could play this game with her and let her off the hook because of what he had seen before?
Then she raised her hand and waved it, and the icicles that were pressed against those people's vital points immediately turned into ice threads and burrowed into their bodies.
In an instant, wails and screams filled the air. Judging from the sounds, one could tell what kind of torture they were enduring; these sounds did not seem to be made by humans.
She now held an ice blade in her hand, but it was only about an inch long. She played with it, slowly running her fingers across the blade, and the incredibly sharp blade didn't leave any wounds on her fingers.
She looked directly into the man's eyes, and the base commander felt an immense, overwhelming aura pressing down on him.
Even though he was nearly 20 centimeters taller than Lin Ruo, he felt as if he were crawling at her feet, while she was a high and mighty god, and he didn't even deserve a glance from her.
His legs buckled uncontrollably, and he knelt before Lin Ruo, using his supernatural abilities to resist the overwhelming pressure.
This feeling wasn't unique to him; everyone around him felt it too. Their wails subsided considerably as they were struggling to breathe under the pressure. Had they not been restrained and unable to move, they would likely have collapsed by now.
Lin Ruo's aura continued to grow stronger. She looked down at the East China Base Chief kneeling on the ground and said in a calm tone, "If you've made a mistake, you've made a mistake. No matter what the reason is, you should bear the consequences."
The man, who had been so overwhelmed by the oppressive force that he had no strength left to speak, suddenly felt the overwhelming aura weaken considerably. He then explained haltingly, "I know... the decision to take them in... was my decision."
He composed himself, looked up at Lin Ruo, and said, "I am the one who chose to be your enemy. It has nothing to do with the survivors in my base. If you are angry, just kill me."
The man clenched his teeth, and although his powerful aura had weakened, it had not disappeared. He still insisted on looking directly into Lin Ruo's eyes.
Lin Ruo raised an eyebrow and tightened his grip on the ice blade. The wails of those tormented by the ice lines ceased, and the ice lines that had been constantly crisscrossing their bodies temporarily stopped. Their bodies were still trembling violently from the torment they had just endured.
The regret in their hearts was almost overwhelming them. Why did they provoke Lin Ruo in the first place? And why did they have to go through all this trouble to provoke this person? It was like provoking a relentless demon. They finally experienced what it felt like to be chased by a ghost with nowhere to run, just like in those ghost movies.
"Sister Ruo! Sister Ruo! I was wrong. I was just out of my mind. I'll give you anything you want. Please, spare my life."
These people experienced Lin Ruo's power firsthand for the first time. Only those who have truly experienced it know how terrifying it is, and they don't want to go through it again.
"Sister Ruo, if you're willing to let me go, I'll give you the entire base, and you can use it however you want."
In order to save her life, these people offered her all sorts of tempting conditions, but Lin Ruo remained unmoved.
With a thought, Lin Ruo sent out chains of ice through the water membrane, pulling the ability users from various parts of the base.
The superhumans who were brought over were all terrified, their faces turning deathly pale. The moment these superhumans appeared, the people who had just said they would give everything to Lin Ruo immediately shut their mouths. These were the space superhumans they had brought over.
They kept quiet not because they were reluctant to part with these things, but because they had one less condition to exchange with Lin Ruo.
They don't believe that Lin Ruo has found these spatial ability users but can't get their supplies.
Lin Ruo raised his chin at the person whose body was being controlled by the ice lines and who dared not move, and said to the spatial ability users, "Go and identify who brought this."
As she spoke these words, the ice chains binding these spatial ability users immediately dissipated, and these spatial ability users slowly pointed to their "masters".
Once all the spatial ability users had found their targets, and two of them were from the East China Base, Lin Ruo turned to look at the base leader of the East China Base, a playful expression on his face.
"Judging from your performance, you are a good leader who is selfless. I will give you two choices. First, you die, and I will leave all the resources in these space ability users' spaces to your base. Second, you live, and I will kill all these space ability users and take the crystal cores with me."
This statement essentially forces the person to choose between their own life and the choices made by the survivors in the base.
"Isn't he supposed to be selfless?" Lin Ruo's ice blade twirled in her hand, so nimble it seemed to have a life of its own. She wanted to see just how selfless this person could be.
Lin Ruo's words made all the space ability users look at the base leader in an instant. They realized that if he chose the first option, they still had a chance to survive. For a moment, everyone looked at him with pleading eyes.
The base commander did not disappoint them; almost without hesitation, he said, "I choose the first one."
Lin Ruo nodded, her smile becoming more genuine. "He is indeed a good leader, willing to sacrifice himself for the people of the entire base."
After she finished speaking, she didn't look at the person again. Such a person might be responsible in the apocalypse, but he wasn't a good person to everyone. He was definitely a good person in the eyes of the people in their base, but not in the eyes of Lin Ruo, who was on the opposite side. If someone hadn't tipped her off before, she didn't know how much longer she would have had to search to find the enemy hiding here.
