In the darkness, everywhere were green eyes. These mutated rats crawled swiftly, constantly devouring everything in their path.
Lin Ruo followed behind them, spreading his mental energy forward as far as possible, trying to find the location of the mutated rat king.
At this time, she was unaware that the base in City B had already begun using missiles.
She kept changing her position. The Rat King's control range couldn't be that large, and there would always be an intermediary way to relay messages when issuing commands.
Finally, perseverance paid off!
Lin Ruo finally caught some clues. As the rat swarm moved forward, some mutated rats scurried around in the group. Every time they appeared, the rat swarm would change direction or change shape.
Lin Ruo used his mental energy to monitor the movements of these mutated rats, and finally found the rat king in the corner of the rat pack!
It ran at the back of the group and looked no different from the other mutated rats. If it weren't for the bright Level 2 crystal core in its brain, she would have thought she had come to the wrong place.
Good heavens! As a rat king, it wasn't commanding from the very center of the rat swarm, but instead hiding in a corner. No wonder her mental energy couldn't reach it; she never expected the rat king to be here.
Lin Ruo locked onto the Rat King with his mental energy, and quickly moved forward, rushing straight towards the Rat King.
But just then, her mental energy detected something unusual. Lin Ruo suddenly looked up into the distance and saw a streak of fire, like a shooting star, hurtling toward them.
Missiles!!! How could there be such a thing!
She spun around quickly, changed direction abruptly, and sprinted backward at the fastest speed she had ever seen, so fast that she was just a blur.
As she fled, blue light surged wildly in her eyes as she continuously layered ice shields within the invisible water membrane!
Lin Ruo gritted her teeth inwardly. This B City base was truly extravagant! They even had missile reserves! And the parts hadn't even frozen in such cold weather!
Thinking of the power of her self-destruction before her rebirth, she knew that if she risked her life, she could withstand a high-powered missile head-on, but it would be almost impossible to avoid injury.
Moreover, to wipe out all these rats, the B City base couldn't just deploy one, so a direct confrontation wasn't an option; the only option was to run!
Lin Ruo kept his mental energy focused on the rapidly approaching flames in mid-air, wondering if there was any nuclear material inside.
In a flash, many thoughts raced through Lin Ruo's mind, and he felt a pang of regret for ever chasing after the mutated rat king.
Just then, a deafening roar ripped through the sky, "Boom!"
The missile behind them hit the swarm of rats with pinpoint accuracy, sending flames and smoke billowing into the sky.
Countless mutated rats were reduced to ashes in the explosion. The massive shockwave spread rapidly, carrying with it the corpses of rats and rubble from buildings...
Even though Lin Ruo had run several kilometers away, it was to no avail; she was quickly engulfed by the shockwave of the missile explosion.
"Cough cough!"
Lin Ruo crawled out of the ruins, her blood and qi surging. She shook her head, her ears ringing from the shock. Her water-based superpowers circulated rapidly throughout her body, helping her calm her blood and qi.
The surrounding area was filled with the rubble of shattered buildings, and only two layers of her ice shield remained. The power of that missile was indeed well-deserved.
She took a slight breath and didn't dare to look at the Rat King's location again. She climbed out of the ruins, took out a skateboard from her spatial storage, and continued to run away.
She didn't know where the missiles behind her would land, so she had to get away from the swarm of rats as soon as possible.
This was a novel experience for her; she never imagined that one day she would be bombed by missiles!
Before the apocalypse, needless to say, Country Z is a powerful nation with the most advanced anti-missile system, and no other country would allow missiles to land on Country Z's territory.
In her previous life, she lived in City A. After the apocalypse, many parts of these missiles could not withstand the extreme weather, and the radar system could not function, so those missiles were completely unusable.
Who would have thought that if they did it again, the B City base would produce missiles!
Lin Ruo slid backward frantically, and the rats, terrified by the missile attack, ran backward like a black tide.
She used her mental energy to probe and discovered that the swarm of rats was following her! If this continued, she would probably not be able to escape the center of the next blast!
She quickly turned and moved laterally to the side, moving away from the swarm of rats, while simultaneously casting ten layers of extra-thick ice shields on herself!
Just minutes later, their mental energy detected another anomaly in mid-air: a massive fireball hurtling towards the swarm of rats! The missiles from the B City base were coming again!
Ignoring everything else, Lin Ruo's skateboard slid rapidly across the ground, like a whirlwind.
"Boom!" Another missile exploded behind them, and another huge mushroom cloud shot into the sky.
The high-rise buildings at the epicenter of the explosion were instantly annihilated and turned to dust, and the mutated rats inside were naturally not spared.
Countless boulders flew outwards, many of them crashing into Lin Ruo's shield. The immense force caused cracks to slowly appear on the outermost layer of the shield.
Lin Ruo was then engulfed by the aftershocks of the explosion once again.
When Lin Ruo crawled out of the rubble again, she was in much better condition than before, with six layers of ice shield still intact.
The rat swarm was getting further and further away from her; she had already run out of the missile's range, and her ice shield could withstand only some of the aftershocks.
The base in City B launched a total of four missiles, precisely targeting the rat swarm. Lin Ruo didn't know how they obtained the rat swarm's movements, but they certainly succeeded.
Four missiles blasted the entire swarm of rats to pieces. Originally numbering in the hundreds of millions, they were reduced to only a few hundred thousand, all hiding underground and too afraid to come out again.
