Chapter 84 Meeting the Enemy

Lin Ruo currently has more than a dozen useless resident cards, but she can't go to the supplies exchange point now. The staff there have seen her outfit before and can't explain where all those resident cards came from.

Her fingers, through her gloves, lightly twirled a thick stack of resident cards in her hand. "I wonder if this B City base will be able to develop a black market next time I come here."

"Forget it, I have important business to attend to this time. Anyway, the supplies aren't going anywhere, they'll just be a little more expensive."

She had scanned the entire outer layer and gained a general understanding of the strength of the B City base. Finding no equipment that could hinder her, she felt relieved.

She found a secluded corner, covered herself with another layer of water to become invisible, and then quietly jumped into the inner wall.

She jumped into the backyard of a villa. She spread her mental energy towards the villa and saw a familiar face. She often saw this face on TV before. It seemed to be an academician. At this moment, he was circling around a machine.

Seeing that it wasn't the person she was looking for, Lin Ruo swept her mental energy over them and quickly left the backyard.

Walking on the inner road, Lin Ruo could immediately feel the difference. The layout of the inner area was really very similar to the community before the apocalypse. Every villa had a courtyard wall, the roads were interconnected, and there were even green belts reserved. Unfortunately, the green belts were now bare and empty.

People who don't know the situation might think they've traveled back to before the apocalypse.

Lin Ruo, shielded by an invisible water membrane, swiftly moved around the villas. The inner villas housed many people, and Lin Ruo scanned them with his mental energy, spotting many familiar faces, including high-ranking officials from City B and academicians from various fields.

These people all had shining auras before the apocalypse and had achieved outstanding success in their respective fields. It was perfectly reasonable for them to live in this inner layer. The B City base was in the process of developing and expanding, and naturally needed these people to contribute to its growth.

When she was in the back row of the inner layer, she suddenly saw a spacious area completely covered by underground ore. This must be the training ground.

There were several superhumans practicing their abilities inside. Lin Ruo walked in. The entire training ground was modeled after a stadium before the apocalypse, except that there weren't as many spectator seats.

"Boom!" Suddenly, a fireball veered off course and crashed into the wall, making a loud noise as it collided with it.

Lin Ruo looked at the target's position and clicked her tongue. The angle was too far off. No wonder the B City base added a layer of underground ore outside the training ground. They probably didn't want to damage the villas outside.

She stood aside and observed these superhumans, discovering that there were only six superhumans in total.

There was a fire-type ability user I'd seen before; he was holding a fireball in each hand and rapidly throwing it toward the target in the center.

There was also a middle-aged man surrounded by shattered rocks. He was holding a pair of giant hammers and frantically attacking a rock. His moves were unclear, but it was obvious that he was very strong and must be a strength-based character.

A tall, thin man was running around the training field not far away, moving at an incredible speed. He must be a speed-type ability user.

Beside her was a woman holding a small seed. The seed sprouted and grew rapidly, eventually becoming tall and bearing fruit. She reached out and picked a sweet potato from the seed and put it into a large basket next to her. The basket was already full of sweet potatoes, indicating that she was a wood-type ability user.

There was another man sitting next to her. The man was shrouded in a metallic sheen, and then a golden shield appeared in front of him. He must be a metal elementalist.

Adding to the earth-type ability user who was previously imprisoned for murdering his entire family, there are exactly six.

The B City base now has six superhumans, which is quite a lot.

After observing for a while, she found that their training was all routine and consisted of basic moves with nothing new, so she gave up on watching any longer.

Stepping out of the training ground, she deliberately expanded her mental energy to its maximum, searching within the inner layer of the building.

Before going to the A City base, Jiang Haochen was also a high-ranking official at the B City base. If he were at the B City base, he would definitely be living in this inner layer.

She would be doubly happy if she could meet him today.

Unfortunately, she searched most of the inner floor without finding it. Instead, she encountered another man. This man was wearing a thick military overcoat and no mask. He came out of a house in the corner, his face full of anger and his aura menacing.

Lin Ruo suddenly stopped. She recognized the man; he was one of the rescue team members she had met before, and he seemed to be a team leader. Oh right, he was the Ye Lin she had mentioned earlier.

Watching Ye Lin carrying a file folder and striding quickly away in a direction she hadn't had time to explore, she saw Ye Lin leave quickly.

Lin Ruo raised her eyebrows slightly. She remembered that when she first entered the base, she had heard that Ye Lin had arrested an earth-type ability user who had committed a crime and wanted to punish him severely. Later, he encountered resistance and went to the deputy base leader to apply for a similar punishment.

Could the person who could send him with the documents to report be the deputy base commander she was looking for?

This deputy base commander is her main purpose in coming to the B City base; Jiang Haochen can be found after the matter is settled.

She quietly lifted her foot and followed Ye Lin.

Ye Lin had no idea what kind of danger he had brought to Li Weiguo. He was now filled with rage. The case of Xie Lufeng, the earth-type ability user, had been shelved for two days now. The military kept saying they would investigate, but what was there to investigate when the evidence was caught red-handed? This was clearly a cover-up!

These superhumans have been the base's prized possessions since they were discovered, spending their days bullying men and women and committing all sorts of evil deeds! This time, they even went so far as to wipe out an entire family after their attempt to force themselves on someone failed, enraging them!

How cruel! Could such people risk their lives to protect the base in its time of crisis? He didn't believe it! They'd be lucky if they didn't take the opportunity to plot against the base!
