Chapter 91 Research on Crossbows

"Whoosh—" A bamboo arrow shot quickly toward Lin Ruo's head.

She glanced at the corner of her eye, tilted her head slightly, and dodged the bamboo arrow that shot towards her. The arrow embedded itself in the ice on the ground, its fletching trembling slightly.

Lin Ruo quickly turned around, reached for his waist, and fired a shot at the third floor of the adjacent residential building.

"Bang!"

The bullet missed; the man dodged it.

Lin Ruo raised an eyebrow. It seemed this person was quite skilled, managing to dodge bullets.

She quickly scanned the third floor with her mental energy, and the entire layout of the third floor appeared in Lin Ruo's mind. There were five people on the third floor. Three of them were standing by the door, each holding a crossbow. Two people were guarding the window, one holding a gun and the other holding a bamboo bow.

Lin Ruo raised an eyebrow. Crossbows and bamboo arrows? These were clearly made by him. He hadn't expected to encounter them again. Thinking of the tons of underground ore in his space, if he made these things with black jade crystals, their power should be much stronger than those ordinary rifles.

Her gaze as she looked at the third-floor window grew brighter and brighter.

"Bang!"

Seeing that she was only looking up at the window and not making any other movements, the other person fired another shot at her. She jumped slightly to dodge the bullet and turned to walk towards the residential building.

Since the other party wanted to lure her up there, she would go up and take a look, and while she was at it, retrieve those items.

"He's coming up! Watch out!"

The two people by the window hid behind the wall and watched Lin Ruo walk upstairs step by step, then turned to remind their partner by the door.

The person behind the door moved a step towards the wall, raised the crossbow hanging on his arm high, and prepared to open the door and kill Lin Ruo.

Lin Ruo slowly walked up to the third floor. Her mental energy had already locked onto the room where the person was hiding. She took out a black jade longsword from her spatial storage, twirled it in her hand, and slashed it with incredible speed. All that could be heard was the whooshing sound of the blade cutting through the air.

Lin Ruo walked to the door of the room on the third floor. She raised the long knife in her hand, a smile on her lips. She clearly "saw" the position of the person inside, and thrust the long knife forward with force.

The sharp long knife easily pierced the door panel and accurately stabbed into the chest of a person inside the door, "Swoosh...".

"Uh." The man who had been stabbed looked at his chest in disbelief. Blood was still flowing from his chest, staining his cotton-padded coat red. A moment later, the blood froze.

Lin Ruo's lips curled slightly beneath her mask, and with a slight turn of the knife tip, she pulled it out with force.

The man felt a chill run through his body, his vision went black, and he collapsed to the ground.

"Old Tian!" came a startled cry from inside the door.

Lin Ruo quickly raised her foot and kicked the door hard. The door was kicked away by a huge force and landed accurately on a man who was trying to open the door and rush out.

She stepped into the ambush room, and as she entered, she took a step back. A short bamboo arrow flew past her and she caught it in her hand. Then, with a twist of her knife, she thrust, twisted, and pulled to the side, reaping another life.

At the same time, he quickly turned around and was already next to another person who was lying in ambush by the door. The bamboo arrow in his left hand pierced the man's neck.

The man's mouth was slightly open, opening and closing as if he wanted to speak, and his eyes bulged out, staring intently at Lin Ruo in front of him.

Blood spurted out and instantly splashed onto the adjacent wall, where it froze immediately.

With a "thump," the man also fell to the ground.

The two people by the window saw that three of their own had died in an instant. They fired bamboo arrows and bullets at Lin Ruo relentlessly. Lin Ruo took a step to the side and moved two meters to the right. All the bullets and bamboo arrows missed their mark.

She swiftly moved forward, her long, dark jade sword flashing horizontally. The man with the gun had his neck severed by the sword, his head flying off and fresh blood spurting upwards, splattering onto the faces of those nearby.

The man was terrified by Lin Ruo's skills and tried to escape by jumping out of the window.

Lin Ruo stabbed him from behind, piercing his heart. He froze on the spot, his bamboo bow falling from his hand. Lin Ruo hooked and flicked the bow with his toe, sending it flying into the air, where Lin Ruo caught it.

Lin Ruo kicked the man, and his body was instantly kicked out of the window, crashing heavily onto the ice below.

The five people in the room were all killed in an instant, and the room was filled with the smell of blood.

Lin Ruo frowned slightly. She took the crossbow off the corpse's wrist and put it into her spatial storage along with the bamboo bow in her hand.

She found some food and a few bamboo arrows on these people, but no resident cards.

"Looks like these aren't survivors from the B City base, so we missed out on another chance to fleece them."

After storing everything she had found in her spatial storage, she jumped out of the window and left.

No sooner had she left than a swarm of insects appeared, all of them fist-sized cockroaches, which flew onto several corpses and began to feast on them.

Lin Ruo spent another afternoon wandering around City B, but still couldn't find the insect nest or discover which direction the insects were moving in. She only found a few small groups of insects gathering, which she sealed in ice and stored in her space.

She rushed home before dark, and Afu and Ashou came out to greet her from afar, wagging their big tails and running around her in circles.

"I got back a little late today, so I won't go out tomorrow." Lin Ruo patted Ah Shou's long mouth. "I brought back a lot of 'snacks' for you guys to chew on today."

"Woof woof!" Ah Shou wagged its tail happily. It knew what "snacks" were. Those black worms tasted especially delicious when chewed.

When she arrived at her doorstep, she saw the mutated animals that Afu and Ashou had hunted back: a two-meter-long male peacock and a two-meter-long domestic cat.
