It was afternoon, and the intersection in front of the square in the Asai Villa District was busy with traffic.
Miku Yoshida, dressed in a professional uniform, rested one hand on the baby stroller. With her free hand, she held up her phone to discuss contract matters with a client. She responded with a smile:
"Ms. Akita, how about we arrange a time for dinner? Meeting in person is much more effective than talking on the phone. We can discuss any changes you'd like in person. Hmm... Well, if you're free tomorrow afternoon, Ms. Akita, let's meet at the Peninsula Coffee near your home. Okay, okay, go ahead and get busy. See you tomorrow."
After hanging up the phone, Yoshida Miku breathed a sigh of relief. She put her phone in her pocket and took out a sticky note from her pocket. On it was written all the ingredients she needed to buy at the supermarket. Today, the maid at home took sick leave, so she had to take her daughter out herself.
Just as the light turned green, she was about to push the stroller across the street when she heard a sound similar to a hiccup. Puzzled, she turned the stroller and noticed that her daughter's face had turned strange, and the rice cracker she was holding had disappeared.
Realizing that the situation was not good, Yoshida Miku panicked and leaned over and exclaimed:
“…How are you, kid? Don’t scare your mother, okay?! Ayumi, spit it out!
!”
However, how could a child who is not even one year old understand? Even if he could understand, he would not be able to stretch out his little hands to pick out the rice cake stuck in his throat.
"Hello, what happened?"
Upon hearing the noise, Fujiwara Yuu and Furuya Rei immediately ran across the street to the woman's side. Their concerned tone made the panicked Yoshida Miku feel like she had found her last straw. She said anxiously, her face full of anxiety:
"My daughter seems to have stuffed the rice cracker directly into her mouth and now she's choking and can't spit it out. What should I do?
”
"Madam, if you trust me, could you please hand your child over to me?" As a doctor in his previous life, Fujiwara Yuu naturally had experience in dealing with such matters, but now he was just an ordinary police academy student and was relatively young, which made it easy for people to feel distrustful.
Fūya Rei noticed the woman's hesitation. He noticed the change in the baby's expression and immediately pulled out a police notebook from his trouser pocket and explained:
"Ma'am, we are students from the police academy. We learned first aid in class. Please trust us!"
After hearing that the two were police academy students, Yoshida Miku felt relieved. She quickly handed her daughter, who had already lost her voice, to her, tears welling in her eyes as she pleaded:
"Mr. Police, I'm leaving Ayumi in your care."
After taking the baby, Fujiwara Yuu knelt on the ground as quickly as possible. He turned Ayumi's face down and let her body lean on his knees, and gradually increased the strength of his left hand to slap the baby's shoulder blades on both sides.
Then I turned the baby over and pressed the lower half of the sternum several times with my index and middle fingers. After repeating the action twice, the baby, who had been quiet, suddenly cried out and vomited out the piece of rice cake that was blocking his airway.
Seeing the rice cake being coughed out successfully, Furiya Rei who was standing nearby also breathed a sigh of relief. You know, the first aid class in the police academy did not teach this kind of knowledge. He smiled and patted Fujiwara's shoulder and raised his thumb, while complaining in his heart: Fujiwara should become a doctor, a white coat would probably suit him much better than a police uniform.
After seeing her daughter successfully rescued, Yoshida Miku could no longer control her emotions and she covered her face and cried bitterly.
Her action made Fujiwara Yuu, who was still holding the baby, a little at a loss. He looked at the crying baby in his arms with his back stiff. The baby's mother standing in front of him was also crying... He could even feel the gazes from the people around him. He was afraid that these passers-by must have constructed a bloody family ethics drama in their heads at 8 o'clock in the evening.
"Um, ma'am... could you please stop crying? Your daughter?"
Fujiwara Yuu looked embarrassed as the baby in his arms was still crying. He even imagined Akihara Kenji using a baseball to temporarily block a broken faucet, but the baby in his arms was a baby, and he couldn't use something to block her tear ducts.
Yoshida Miku also realized that her gaffe caused fear and curiosity among the surrounding crowd. She quickly bowed to Fujiwara Yuu to express her gratitude, then took her baby daughter and coaxed her. The crying soon subsided.
Fūya Rei was about to leave quietly with Fujiwara, but he found a yellow sticky note on the ground. Bending down to pick it up, he discovered a list of ingredients written on it. He glanced at the stroller, their only means of transportation, and whispered in Fujiwara's ear:
"How about helping them to the end? There's no rush to go back anyway."
"Can."
"Ma'am, shall we go to the supermarket with you?"
"I feel embarrassed. You have already helped me a lot. I can do this little thing by myself." Yoshida Miku quickly freed up one hand and waved it left and right. She didn't want to delay the two young men from doing their own things, so she chose to refuse.
But when Rei Furuya said, "What happened just now was very dangerous. We can help you take better care of the baby," Yoshida Miku decided to owe him a little more favor. At most, she could invite these two kind-hearted police academy students to her house for a home-cooked meal that night.
After they went to a nearby supermarket to buy some food and daily necessities, they returned to the high-rise apartment building near the Asai Villa District Square. It can be seen that the family conditions of this strong woman named Yoshida Miku are quite good. You know, apartments in this area are very expensive, and ordinary people cannot live in such high-end communities.
