Her jet-black hair fluttered in the sea like black seaweed. Her body was stiff. If you didn't know, you would think she was standing in the sea, like a purple-seal fish with a bright purple and slender body.
If it weren't for her pale complexion and swollen, wrinkled skin that distorted her face, one would have thought she was just sleeping in the sea if you didn't look closely.
Witnessing this scene, Morobushi Kagemitsu, who had been to the crime scene more than once, was much calmer than before. He reacted very quickly and made two gestures to Fujiwara Yu, who was standing there without any reaction, to indicate that he would go ashore first and call the police.
After recovering from his shock, Fujiwara Yu nodded slightly and swam towards the female corpse. Current criminal investigation technology is not well developed, and not every case can be investigated through an autopsy to determine the cause of death, so the first step he has to take now is to bring the victim's body back to the shore to prevent the fish and shrimp in the sea from continuing to eat the body.
He didn't feel disgusted with the corpse at all and grabbed it and tried to swim to the shore, but he found that the weight of the corpse was a bit strange. Looking down, he saw that the rope tied to his feet was actually connected to a stone weighing more than ten pounds.
Fujiwara Yuu raised a brow at the sight. No wonder the body was in such a position. The rocks were acting as a weight, keeping it from floating. If they hadn't snorkeled here, her remains would have been eaten away by sea creatures, leaving nothing behind.
"Fujiwara, let me help you!"
After hearing the voice of Squad Leader Yin Da coming from above his head, Yin Dahang soon appeared beside him. He swam over quickly, grabbed the other hand of the corpse, and swam towards the shore.
The body was successfully carried onto the beach, and the tourists who were originally sightseeing came over curiously. They thought that the person being carried up was a drowned tourist, but after seeing the obviously swollen, wrinkled and deformed face, they were so scared that they screamed and backed away. The adults even picked up their own children to prevent them from developing psychological trauma.
Furiya Rei, who had run to the store to buy dust-free gloves, hurried over. To speed things up, he even chose to go barefoot instead of wearing slippers. He handed the gloves to Fujiwara Yu, who had already squatted down to prepare for a preliminary autopsy, and asked:
"How is it? Can the cause of death be determined?"
Fujiwara Yu carefully turned over the victim's body and found that the corpse spots covering the whole body were light red, and a large amount of light red foam was found in front of the mouth and nasal cavity. In addition, the skin was wrinkled and deformed. These points can confirm that the victim died of drowning.
He lifted up the victim's left and right hands and examined them carefully, but found that the gaps between the fingers were very clean without any mud, sand or water plants. This was a bit strange. Even if the victim committed suicide by jumping into the sea, he would not have struggled before dying.
You know, when people are on the verge of death, they will stimulate a strong desire to live. Even if they want to die, they will instinctively struggle because of the discomfort of drowning. But why didn't she react at all? Could she have died before drowning, or had lost the ability to move and think?
"The initial diagnosis is drowning, but other possibilities cannot be ruled out. I want more accuracy..."
Fujiwara Yuu stopped talking mid-sentence because his eyes caught something and he realized that suicide was no longer a possibility in this case. He paused, pointed to the rope-bound feet, and frowned.
"Look here."
After seeing the foot ropes being tied, Yin Dahang simulated it in his mind and realized the problem. He sat on the ground and gestured while explaining:
"This rope must have been tied by someone. If she tied it herself, the knot would be facing her, but this one is facing outwards. This means someone else must have tied the rope around her feet."
"Well, I noticed the crevices between the victim's fingernails were very clean, proving she didn't struggle before death. So I'm leaning towards the possibility of murder." After carefully examining her body to confirm there were no needle marks or other injuries, Fujiwara Yu continued, "I think the murderer was most likely someone she knew. They likely incapacitated her with ether or sleeping pills, then tied her up with ropes and rocks and dumped her into the sea."
Some of the tourists and locals who were still watching the excitement couldn't help but admire these young people. Some even boldly speculated that they might be police officers from a police station who came here for team building.
"I didn't expect you could even perform a preliminary autopsy. Fujiwara-kun, you really do surprise me every time~"
When Fujiwara Yu heard the familiar voice, he turned around and saw Chisawa Akihara wearing a white T-shirt and ripped jeans. With her hair in a ponytail, he almost didn't recognize her.
"Sister, you're here? Hmm? Is this the Chongwu you mentioned?"
After greeting, Akihara Kenji noticed that standing next to his sister was a tall man with a neatly shaved triangular flat head. He was probably between 25 and 30 years old, with thick eyebrows and big eyes, and he looked very righteous.
Upon hearing this, Chisu Akihara knocked her brother Kenji on the head and glared at him, reminding him:
"Kenji, you can't be rude. Although he's not my direct superior, he's a deputy inspector in the First Investigation Division, one level higher than me, the Chief Inspector. And Jugo is older than me!"
Several people present, including Yokomizo Shigego, glared at each other in unison. They told their younger brother (me) to be polite, but they themselves started speaking non-honorific words to people older than them and even called them by their full names... This made it really hard for others (me) to be polite.
"Hello, my name is Yokomizo Shigego, and I'm a detective in the First Investigation Division of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Headquarters. Thank you for your guidance."
