After the press conference, the police began investigating the serial murder case.
As the head of Special Investigation Division 7, Fujiwara Yuu naturally had to participate in it, but before launching the investigation, there was one thing he still wanted to confirm. He wanted to know how the victims died.
"Inspector Megure, can I ask how the five victims died?"
Megure Jusan turned around and saw that the person asking him was Takagi Sosuke. A smile quickly appeared on his face and he said loudly:
"So it's Brother Takashi. I've already asked Shiratori to give the printed materials to Takagi. They contain the cause of death of the victim, as well as the physical evidence and photos left at the crime scene."
"Okay, I'll go first then."
Fujiwara Yu nodded politely to Megure Juzo, then strode towards the floor where Special Investigation Office No. 7 was located.
After arriving at the office, Fujiwara Yu saw the seven special investigation officers gathered around the table discussing the case. He directly pulled out a piece of document that recorded the cause of death of the victims. After careful inspection, he found that one of the victims died on the spot from an arrow shot to the heart.
Was it an arrow shot to the heart? It does match the cause of Saegusa Saetsuki's death, but this alone doesn't guarantee that the murderer of Saegusa Saetsuki is the same person who killed the members of the Genji Hotaru bandit gang.
Fujiwara Yuu rubbed his swollen temples with his hands. He pulled out a chair and sat down. He felt a little uncomfortable after not getting a good rest in such a long time. Every time he tried to concentrate and sort out his thoughts, he would feel dizzy... He was really too tired.
Date Ko noticed that something was wrong with Fujiwara Yu, patted his shoulder lightly, and said with concern:
"Why don't you let us handle this matter? You should go back and have a good sleep first."
"As the head of Special Investigation Unit 7, how could I not get involved? Instead of taking a break, I'd better get this case over with as soon as possible. If another person were to die, the reporters would definitely write all sorts of stories about them, and then they'd have to say 'the police are incompetent.'"
"You really like to show off, or you don't believe in our strength?" Yi Dahang raised his eyebrows and said dissatisfiedly.
Fujiwara Yuu noticed that everyone's eyes were focused on him. He smiled awkwardly and wanted to explain when the phone in his trouser pocket made a pleasant sound. He quickly stood up and took out his phone. As he walked out the door, he did not forget to explain:
"I'm going to answer a phone call. Don't think too much about it. That's not what I meant!"
When Fujiwara Yu walked out of the door, he looked down and found that it was Kudo Shinichi calling. After he answered the call, he walked towards the lounge.
"Hey, Kudo, what do you want to talk to me about? Could it be that your sense of smell is so sharp that you already know about the recent case?"
"Yes, Hattori and I are together now. He is investigating this serial murder case because the takoyaki boss who has a good relationship with him is one of the victims." Conan Edogawa said with a smile.
These two guys are really well-informed. I wonder if it was that Hattori who "threatened" Officer Otaki and leaked the information?
Fujiwara Yuu closed the door of the lounge, struck a match and lit a cigarette before asking:
"So, you're calling me now, is there something wrong?"
"This is a big case. Brother Takashi, you must be involved in the investigation, right? I think you should come to Kyoto. Sannoji Temple here has received a paper inserted in the "Gikyouki". It says that solving the puzzle of this painting will reveal the location of the stolen Buddha statue."
The paper stuck inside the Yoshitsune Ki?
Fujiwara Yuu's expression grew serious. Even the police didn't have this clue. The person who sent the letter to Sannoji Temple was probably the culprit behind these five murders. Thinking of this, he stubbed out his cigarette, walked to the elevator, pressed the down button, and said,
"Kudo, I'm going to Kyoto now. Where shall we meet?"
"Keage Slope Canal Park. Hattori and I are investigating a place related to Yoshitsune and Benkei. Let's gather here."
"no problem."
After hanging up the phone, Fujiwara Yuu stepped into the elevator and closed his eyes. The brief moment of rest did help his fatigue dissipate a little. He hurried to the parking lot, drove to the Shinkansen station, and bought a ticket directly to Kyoto.
After sitting down, he found that the seat he was sitting in was the same as the one he took on the way back to Tokyo.
Fujiwara Yu closed his eyes with a wry smile. If Ayanokouji Fumimaro had just told him the case, he would have stayed in Kyoto and never come back.
Next time I see him, I will definitely give his precious striped squirrel a good rub.
The two-hour drive wasn't long. After getting off the bus, Fujiwara Yuu quickly noticed several missed calls, all from Date Kou. He quickly realized he hadn't told his squad leader about his trip to Kyoto to investigate a case, so he quickly called back.
Before he could even open his mouth to explain, Date Kou on the other end of the line started scolding him:
"What are you doing? Are you trying to drive me crazy by not answering the phone? I thought you were dead from exhaustion! I don't want to be collecting the bodies of my own idiot friends at such a young age!"
"I'm sorry, squad leader. I fell asleep after getting on the bus, so I couldn't tell you." Fujiwara Yu quickly moved the phone away. Date Ko's shout almost sent him away.
"Get in the car? Where did you go?" Yi Dahang heard the key words and asked with a frown.
"I'm in Kyoto now. Some clues point to Sannoji Temple here, so I came here." Fujiwara Yu explained honestly.
Yi Dahang couldn't help but stare with half-moon eyes. He really didn't expect this guy to run so far. He put one hand on his waist and said speechlessly:
"You're really good at running, kid. What about the murder of a member of the thief group Genji Hotaru? We're responsible for investigating cases that happen in Tokyo. You know that, right?"
"Um, that... Captain, I'm leaving the Tokyo case to you, please!"
"Got it. Then you should be careful in Kyoto. The murderer this time is not simple. Please don't let anything happen to you."
"Well, I'll pay attention, and you too."
After hanging up the phone, Fujiwara Yu walked out of the station and hailed a taxi to go to the agreed meeting place.
"Uncle, please go to Keage Slope Canal Park."
"Great."
He did not choose to continue to sleep in the car, but picked up the can of coffee he bought from the vending machine at the station. After drinking the bitter coffee, he felt much better. He hoped to find a breakthrough in the case as soon as possible. If time continued to drag on, he was really afraid that he would collapse at the crime scene.
Of course, he didn’t die...but he was so sleepy that he fainted.
