The red and white Ford Mustang slowly stopped in front of the Twin Towers skyscraper. Fujiwara Yu, who had been waiting for a long time, opened the passenger door. What he didn't expect was that he almost suffocated the moment he got in.
He looked at the overflowing ashtray with disdain, held his breath, rolled down the window, and then said:
"FBI, I'd believe you if you got lung cancer from smoking one day. It only took a short time to get here from downtown Tokyo. Is it really necessary to smoke half a pack of cigarettes in one go?"
"I didn't expect the CIA's ace to be so caring. Are you worried about my health?" Akai Shuichi smiled and took off his sunglasses. There was a smile hidden in his dark green pupils. He could even guess how the other party would fight back.
"Go away, I wish you..."
The word "death" could not be uttered. In the past, Fujiwara Yu would have blurted it out easily and without burden, but since he knew that Akai Shuichi was Miyano Akemi's cousin, he felt that he had to change his attitude.
But thinking of the somewhat ambiguous expression on the FBI investigator's face, I always felt that some incredible words would come out of this guy's mouth.
Fujiwara Yuu held his forehead with a headache, staring at the pile of cigarette butts, and changed his words:
"Smoke less. If you really get lung cancer, it can be fatal."
Akai Shuichi curled the corners of his lips, started his car and drove towards Tokyo. Although his face didn't show much expression, the words he said were so corny that they gave people goosebumps:
"Claire, thank you for your concern for me, but please don't forget our relationship and stop cursing me."
What kind of relationship is this? Come on, it's just a normal partnership, why do you say it's so weird?
Fujiwara Yuu didn't understand where Akai Shuichi learned this trick from, nor did he understand British humor. He frowned and said:
"...Akai Shuichi, could you please be more normal? During your time as an undercover agent in the organization, you must have suffered a lot because of your mouth, right? Didn't Gin use his beloved Beretta pistol to pay for your valuable head?"
"That's really unfortunate. During my time undercover, I never saw gin, so naturally I didn't have the chance to experience it."
"Then you're doing pretty badly. At least Bourbon and Scotland will dislike you."
Akai Shuichi raised his eyebrows, thinking of the time in the safe house, and replied:
"Scottish beef stew is quite delicious. I tried to replicate it after leaving the organization, but the taste could never reach the Scottish standard. It's a pity."
"Why didn't the beef stew you made poison you and make you mute?" Fujiwara Yu turned his head to look at the scenery passing by outside the window. The words he said were nothing but criticism of Akai Shuichi. This way of getting along is also pretty good.
Shuichi Akai could feel that Claire had no ill will towards him, he was just surprised why he could cook. To be honest, he had never cooked a table of dishes for his girlfriend. Once his skills were honed a little, he could consider a date for four.
He knew Claire was a good cook, so he didn't forget to give his mother a DISS while chatting:
"I'll make it for you next time? My cooking skills are pretty good, better than my mother's."
"...I can teach you reluctantly."
"Should I say thank you then?"
"You're being long-winded. You're saying it's just a stretch."
The two chatted idly until the Ford Mustang drove into the underground parking garage of the Beika Hotel and ended the conversation tacitly.
After taking the elevator to the eleventh floor, Fujiwara Yuu, standing at the door, suddenly remembered the previous misunderstanding. He glanced at Akai Shuichi beside him with some confusion. Should he ask?
Akai Shuichi noticed Claire's hesitant expression, and with his ears reddening, he guessed what he was about to say. He calmly pulled a square of wrapping paper from his trouser pocket and said calmly:
"Don't worry, I won't let you get it this time."
Fujiwara Yu never expected that Akai Shuichi had guessed his thoughts and even took out the thing to show him. He clenched his fists tightly and did not answer, so he had to knock on the door harder.
Bang bang bang!
Judy Stelling, who had been waiting in the hotel, glanced warily at the peephole at the door. Only after confirming that the person standing at the door was Clare did she open the door.
She noticed that Claire's expression was a little strange, and asked in confusion:
"Mr. Clare, are you feeling unwell?"
"No, it's just a little hot." Fujiwara Yu quickly rejected it. If he answered slower, he really didn't know what words would come out of Akai Shuichi's mouth. He didn't want to be so embarrassed that he would dig his toes into the floor.
Judy Stelling helped brew three cups of black tea. She didn't choose to ask about the other person's well-being, but went straight to the point:
"Mr. Claire, I wonder if you can prepare a suitable identity for me?"
"I'll prepare this for you. I'm a little worried that the organization will arrange for someone to approach Teitan High School. After all, that's the best place to get information about Kudo Shinichi. So if that's okay with you, I'll arrange for you to be an English teacher."
"No problem at all~ And I remember that Kudo-san's girlfriend was there too, right?" Judy Stelling said gossipingly.
"Yeah." Fujiwara Yu turned to look at Akai Shuichi and asked, "What about you? Do you need me to prepare an identity for you?"
"No need, I will keep an eye on Teitan Elementary School. There are people there who need my protection." Shuichi Akai said calmly. He did not say it very bluntly. Obviously, he did not know that Claire already knew about his relationship with the Miyano family.
The person he protected was none other than his other cousin, Miyano Shiho.
Whenever Fujiwara Yuu thought about their relationship, he felt that his future was bleak. He suddenly remembered that Akai Shuichi had mentioned his mother, and wondered if he should find out about his mother's profession.
But it seems a bit too abrupt to ask now, so I'd better wait until next time when I teach him how to cook.
Fujiwara Yuu took out the two invitations he had asked Tokiwa Mio for before leaving from his pocket and handed them to the two of them.
"This is the invitation to the opening ceremony. I'll have someone give you a simple disguise to prevent the organization from recognizing you as a defector."
He had originally not intended to reveal that Miyasaka Asami was actually Miyano Akemi, but now it seemed like keeping it a secret wasn't the right move. As for his own identity, even if Akai Shuichi guessed it, it wouldn't matter; he just had to deny it.
"Then let's make a plan. It's not easy to catch that woman named Vermouth."
"At least we can't take action during the opening ceremony. We can only wait and see how the organization plans to act." Fujiwara Yu found a photo of Shigehiko Tsuchiguchi on his phone and handed it to the two of them, saying, "He might be the target of the organization's action. We need to keep a close eye on him."
"Sure, shall we go out for dinner now?"
"No, I don't want to be a third wheel. Have fun working together next week."
"Okay, then I won't send you off. Happy cooperation."
