Kenji Hagiwara has been good at observation since he was a child. Before he met Jinpei Matsuda, he liked to squat at the doorstep and observe the ants on the roadside, watching the tiny ants working together to carry bread that was hundreds of times larger than themselves and drag it into the cave.
It was also from that time that he began to love observation. Whether observing things, animals or humans, he could discover many details. Over time, he successfully cultivated his hobby into his strength.
As soon as several suspects came into view, Hagiwara Kenji captured the changes in their expressions and body movements before and after they saw the corpse. Even though one of them hid his facial emotions well enough to fool Fujiwara Yuu, who didn't pay much attention, he still noticed the way he clenched his fist.
"Then how do you know who the murderer is?"
Hearing Fujiwara Yu's question, Hagiwara Kenji walked slowly to someone's side, and in full view of everyone, he grabbed his left wrist and lifted it up, his fingers gradually tightening inward, with a harmless smile on his face.
He deliberately leaned forward to closely observe the man's fingertips, and said with a rising tone:
"Huh? Kunimi-kun, how did you hurt your finger? It looks like you got cut by a needle or something. Do you want me to put a bandaid on it? Or should we go to the hospital and see if you need a tetanus shot?"
Kunimi Yusei's face turned ugly in an instant. He tried to pull his hand back and hide it in his pocket, but he didn't expect that the seemingly thin Hagiwara Kenji was very strong. He pulled back twice but couldn't break free from the restraints.
After hearing this, Fujiwara Yuu understood why Hagiwara was so sure he was the murderer. He walked forward, picked up the evidence bag, and shook it, his tone quite friendly:
"You re-entered the crime scene after seeing Instructor Nakatani collapse, didn't you? I think you noticed the apology letter lying somewhere like the sink, crumpled up and tossed it into the laundry basket to pin the blame on Murata-san, but you didn't realize you'd cut your fingertip with the syringe, leaving blood there."
Kunimi Yusei turned pale when he saw the blood on the wrinkled apology letter, but he did not want to admit that he had done all this, and he argued loudly:
"My wound was just a scratch from a book page. Besides, I have no intention of killing the instructor! It's Murata who is often scolded by the instructor. Today, he was punished by the instructor and made to do frog jumps in front of the whole class!"
Murata Satoshi didn't expect Kunimi Yusei to try to put the blame on him in order to get rid of suspicion. He was already a bit hot-tempered and grabbed Kunimi Yusei's collar and said angrily:
"Kunimi, what are you talking about?! I've already written a letter of apology. If I wanted to kill the instructor, there's no need to do that!"
"Look, this guy just has a violent gene in him. He's always ready to beat people up!" Kunimi Yusei's handsome face twisted. Perhaps he was eager to distance himself from the matter, but he just exploded, "And you guys got Sano's pendant, right? Who knows? Maybe Sano was the one who killed him! The first witness is often the most likely suspect, am I right?"
This is the first time I have seen a murderer with such poor psychological quality. It seems that Kunimi Yusei probably killed someone in the heat of the moment. As for the reason for the murder... Fujiwara Yu's gaze fell on Nakajima Tomoka, who was standing there in a daze, staring at Kunimi with disbelief. I'm afraid it has something to do with her.
Sano Taichi didn't expect Kunimi to even want to frame him. Just as he was about to explain, Hagiwara Kenji, holding the pendant, didn't hesitate but asked directly:
"Kunimi-kun, you're truly amazing! You were able to spot the pendant I received in the evidence bag the first time you entered the crime scene. Do you have X-ray vision? That's truly amazing!"
Kunimi Yusei's smile froze at this, and he realized he had let something slip. As a police academy student, he was unsuitable for the role of a murderer.
He slowly lowered his head and stopped defending himself, but he showed no remorse. He pushed away Murata Satoshi who was pulling his collar, and looked indifferently at Nakatani Shuhei who had become a cold corpse.
"It's the instructor's fault. If he hadn't done such a disgusting thing, I wouldn't have killed him." Kunimitsu Yusei suddenly raised his head with a ferocious expression, almost roaring, "He forced me to do this, don't you understand? He's ruined my entire future. Why don't you understand me? This beast actually..."
Kunimi Yusei felt as if his throat was being strangled, unable to utter the rest of his words. He couldn't accept that his superior self had been defeated by a 45-year-old instructor, and he couldn't accept that his girlfriend had been touched by someone else.
But what was the reality? These were just the figments of his dirty mind.
And his distorted expression became dull after Nakajima Tomoka spoke——
"He is my father."
The words that could be said in just a second seemed to take a century.
Nakajima Tomoka's eyes were red, and she clutched the hem of her police uniform tightly with both hands. She spoke out the truth she had been hiding in tears:
"Nakatani Shuhei is my biological father. We're father and daughter, so we usually pretend not to know each other! Yusheng-kun...why did you kill my father? If you have any doubts, why don't you talk to me properly? Why?"
Taiichi Sano opened his mouth slightly, unable to digest this huge amount of information for a moment. He had felt strange before, because it was the first time he heard Nakajima call the instructor "Shuhei-chan".
So, Instructor Nakatani is Tomoka Nakajima's biological father, and he was killed by Yusuke Kunimi, who was most likely his future son-in-law?
