Fujiwara Yuu recalled the voice he'd heard during the monitoring. It was a very young voice, definitely not something Sharon, who was already older, would make. He walked out of the elevator and headed towards the parking lot. After he got on his motorcycle, he asked:
"Are you sure it was Sharon and not Chrissy? The voice I heard was very young and didn't match Sharon's."
"Of course I'm sure. Itakura Taku was previously a CG special effects artist, active in the American film industry, and that's how he met Sharon Wynyard. They had a good relationship, but it ended after an argument. Not long after, Itakura Taku also switched careers due to his weakening eyesight and became a computer game systems engineer, leaving the US and returning to Japan."
A relationship breakdown after an argument?
After putting on his motorcycle helmet, Fujiwara Yuu frowned and began to ponder the clues provided by this passage. Assuming that Sharon Wynyard was the one who knew Itakura Taku and knew that he was capable of making software, why was Chris Wynyard the last person to come into contact with Itakura Taku?
Aren't they already broken up? Would people who have completely broken up still share information and even cooperate?
Unless their breakup was an act, a tool for Sharon Wynyard to create a tragic character.
"Herbert, have you investigated Sharon Wynyard's relationships?"
"Yes, she has quite good relationships with people in the industry. It's really unexpected that she is friends with Yukiko Fujimine, who has already retired from the industry."
Fujimine Yukiko? I seem to have heard this name somewhere before.
Fujiwara Yu recalled what had happened recently, and the image of Kudo Shinichi with a smug expression on his face emerged in his mind. Combining the two, he instantly understood why the name sounded familiar.
Fujimine Yukiko was the name she used before marriage. After marrying Kudo Yusaku, she changed her name to Kudo Yukiko.
Kudo Shinichi's mother actually knew Vermouth's mother? Is this world really that small?
"Herbert, can you help me check on Yukiko Fujimine?"
Hearing Fujiwara Yu's request, Yinsen Hondou was stunned. After a few seconds of silence, he asked:
"Are you worried that she has connections to the organization? That's unlikely. Her husband is the famous mystery novelist Yusaku Kudo, and his background is very clean."
Fujiwara Yuu didn't want to doubt it, but he had to be wary of the possibility that Kudo Yukiko was related to the mother of Vermouth, a high-ranking member of the organization. Besides, he had been seeing Kudo Shinichi at murder scenes recently, and if he didn't find out, he would be suspicious of Kudo.
He didn't want this to happen, so he had to investigate to make sure that Yukiko Fujimine's identity was clean.
"Investigate it. As an agent, we cannot let go of any clues."
"Okay, I'll tell you after I find out... Oh, and do we still need to keep an eye on these two Wynyards?"
"Of course they do. There are so many mysteries surrounding them."
"Well, I'll get busy then." Yinsen Bentang was about to hang up when he remembered that he hadn't said anything. "I almost forgot. Happy birthday, and enjoy your meal."
"Thanks."
After hanging up the phone, Fujiwara Yu went straight to Haedo Street. He really had no appetite now. There was too much information to sort out, and he felt that his brain capacity was not enough.
After randomly buying a bowl of salt ramen from a store to satisfy his hunger, he just got on his motorcycle when he heard sirens in the distance. Coincidentally, a police car was parked just across the street.
What puzzled Fujiwara Yu even more was that the person sitting in one of the police cars was a colleague he was very familiar with.
The man in the orange windbreaker who emerged from the passenger seat was none other than Jusan Megure, the head of the Third Division of the Criminal Investigation Section. He was about to lower the brim of his hat to enter the crime scene when he casually glanced over and noticed an acquaintance sitting astride a motorcycle across the street.
"Huh? Isn't this Brother Yingsi?"
"Inspector Megure, do you have a case to handle?" Fujiwara Yuu realized he couldn't escape. He parked his motorcycle and walked over to Megure Jusan, adding, "Do you need my help?"
"Okay, I just happened to have some questions for you. I just went to your office but couldn't find you. Your subordinates said you were on vacation. I didn't expect to see you here, hahaha!"
Fujiwara Yu noticed Chiwa Kazunobu coming out of the driver's seat, politely greeted them, and followed them into the crime scene. Meanwhile, Chiba Kazunobu began to explain the information he had already learned:
"The victim's name was Katsuhiko Nakamoto, 56 years old, and he was the president of a real estate company. The body was discovered by two people: the apartment manager, Shozo Ishimori, and a female tenant, Yoko Sawaki."
"Why did these two people find the body? Did the murderer leave without closing the door after committing the crime?" Fujiwara Yu asked directly after noticing something strange.
"According to the report by the victim, Yoko Sawaki, she returned home from get off work at 8:30 p.m. and heard the television blaring loudly. She went to check with the apartment manager, and when no one responded, she used a spare key to open the door and found Katsuhiko Nakamoto dead in the porch."
After hearing this description, Fujiwara Yu felt that Sawaki Ye Zi's behavior was very strange. Why did she ask the apartment manager to go with her? It was as if she wanted to eliminate her own suspicion and did not want to be the only discoverer of the body.
Megure Jusan noticed the change in the expression on Takashi Sosuke's face and leaned forward to whisper:
"Brother Yingsi, you also find it strange, right? I just asked Shiratori to help check the leaves of Zemu, and I found a surprising discovery."
"Oh? What did you find?"
"Twenty-five years ago, the victim, Katsuhiko Nakamoto, was arrested by Yamanashi Prefecture police in his village in Yamanashi Prefecture on suspicion of kidnapping and murder. The victim at the time was a nine-year-old boy, but Nakamoto was not prosecuted due to insufficient evidence and was acquitted.
The boy who was killed had a younger sister who was only six years old at the time, and this younger sister was Miss Zemu Ye who found Katsuhiko Nakamoto’s body.”
After hearing this, Fujiwara Yu did not think that this case was related to the mistakes Katsuhiko Nakamoto had made, but after hearing the second half of the explanation, he showed an expression of understanding. This was not the slightest motive for murder.
"The police have now identified the suspect, so it should be easy to investigate, right?"
"No, in fact, there was a little girl who provided an alibi for Miss Zeki Ye. Judging from her testimony, Zeki really did not have time to commit the crime." Megure Jusan sighed in confusion when he thought of this. This was originally a case investigated by the police station, but since they could not find the suspect for a long time, the case was transferred to the Metropolitan Police Department.
"Is the little girl with the alibi here?"
"Yes, her mother came here with her." Megure Jusan stepped onto the last step and noticed a large and small person standing in the corridor. He said, "Look, they're standing over there."
Fujiwara Yuu looked in the direction Megure Jusan was looking, and after seeing the faces of the little girl and her mother clearly, a hint of surprise appeared on his face.
She was a little baby then, but now she has grown up.
