The room was cleaned in less than three minutes. Besides the single bed, the small room only contained a desk and wardrobe. There was no toilet, sink, or even a shower. Fujiwara Yuu was puzzled by the thought of having to go to the large bathhouse every day and "be open and honest" with strangers.
Unable to disturb the two new classmates, the bored Fujiwara Yu had to sit at the desk and sent a text message to Saito Masami who was sketching outdoors before his phone was handed in.
[Fujiwara Yuu: I don't know if I disturbed you while you were sketching. The cherry blossoms in front of the police academy are in full bloom and are so beautiful. It's a pity that my phone doesn't have a camera, so I can't share them with you.]
After seeing this message, Miyano Akemi, who was sketching, secretly decided to use the money she earned from her part-time job to buy a Polaroid camera and give Fujiwara-kun a surprise in a few days.
Saito Masami: I'm not interrupting you, I've already finished drawing. Fujiwara-kun, you haven't turned in your phone yet? I remember that's the police academy rule.
[Fujiwara Yuu: Well, they should be asked to hand it in after the entrance ceremony.]
Boom boom boom.
Just after sending the text message, Fujiwara Yu heard a knock on the door. He got up and opened the door, and found that the person standing outside was Captain Date holding a list and the curly-haired boy who lived opposite who was about to close the door.
"Excuse me, do you have something to talk to me about?" Fujiwara Yu asked in confusion.
I thought it was Zhu Fu Jingguang and the others who came to see me.
Ida Ko smiled brightly, handed the list in his hand forward, and said:
"Hello, Fujiwara-san. I'm here to tell you about the bathhouse duty schedule. There are two large bathhouses on each floor, and today it happens to be your turn to clean them with Matsuda-san, the guy who lives across from you. Before you start cleaning, remember to buy toilet cleaner from the supermarket outside!"
"...Oh, I see. Thank you, Captain Ida, for the notice."
"Remember to take your shopping receipt and give it to the instructor when you come back. The instructor will ask the school to reimburse you."
Fujiwara Yuu was devastated. Today was clearly his birthday, yet so much bad luck was happening to him. Not only was he in the same class as the guy who had spoken so violently, but their dorms were right next to each other's. And the most infuriating part was that he had to clean the bathhouse with him.
It seems that all my luck this year was used up in meeting her.
Date Ko had intended to inform Matsuda Jinpei of this news, but before he could even knock on the closed door, he heard the instructor's stern voice coming from the loudspeaker in the corridor:
"Attention all freshmen! Please dress neatly, wear your police hats, and gather downstairs within three minutes to head to the auditorium for the entrance ceremony. Latecomers will be severely punished. Hurry and run!"
Upon hearing that they would be punished, all the new police academy students in the entire building became impatient, especially those who had already taken off their uniform jackets and were lying on the bed to slack off. They were so anxious that they almost put their shoes on backwards.
Date Kou looked at Fujiwara Yuu, who hadn't closed the door yet, and said with a smile:
"Let's gather first. Remember to wear your police hats!"
"Yeah, okay."
