Chapter 66 Getting along well
On the second day in Toronto, Lu Yanzhi and Zhou Qingti went to a Chinese supermarket early in the morning.
The two of them had already thought of the menu last night, which included minced meat and eggplant, oyster sauce chicken wings, stir-fried vegetables, pan-fried shrimp and clam mushroom soup.
Chinese supermarkets have a wide variety of food, even spring rolls. Lu Yanzhi carried two large bags of food home.
Song Zhi wore a light blue cheongsam today, which matched the Suzhou embroidery handbag she gave her yesterday.
Song Zhi's hair was still tied up low with a white jade hairpin and paired with a pearl necklace, making her look like a beauty walking out of a pictorial from the Republic of China era.
Zhou Qingti took out his phone to take a picture of her. After taking two, he called out to Lu Yanzhi, who was about to wash the vegetables, "Take two pictures with your mom and put them on our refrigerator."
Upon hearing this, Lu Yanzhi put down his things and walked over to stand next to his mother. Song Zhi happily took her son's arm, her happy smile frozen in time.
"Qingti, come here, let's take a family photo." Song Zhi said, and the only foreigner in the family took the photo.
After taking the photos, Zhou Qingti began to help Lu Yanzhi prepare the food. Song Zhi wanted to help, but Lu Yanzhi stopped her: "Mom, just wait and eat."
Although Zhou Qingti didn't know how to cook, he had learned how to cut vegetables from Lu Yanzhi.
Song Zhi looked at his son and daughter-in-law busy in the kitchen, and his eyes became hot again.
Two hours later, four dishes and a soup were served on the table. In order to make it look good, Zhou Qingti even arranged the dishes specially.
The family applauded Lu Yanzhi: "Thank you, Chef Lu."
Lu Yanzhi felt a little embarrassed and urged everyone to try it.
Song Zhi and Zhou Qingti tacitly picked up their phones to take pictures: "Eat the phone first."
The minced meat and eggplant are salty and fragrant and go well with rice, the oyster sauce chicken wings are tender and juicy, the stir-fried vegetable rolls and spring pancakes are unique in flavor, and the pan-fried shrimp are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Zhou Qingti finished a bowl of rice very quickly. Song Zhi never had a big appetite, but seeing Zhou Qingti eating so happily, he unconsciously added more rice.
"Yanzhi's cooking skills are so good." Song Zhi felt a little emotional after eating. He didn't even know how to cook noodles before.
She was a little full from eating and felt uncomfortable in her cheongsam. She stood up and said jokingly, "If I had known it was so delicious, I wouldn't have worn the cheongsam. Now my belly is protruding."
Zhou Qingti knew that being strangled after eating would be uncomfortable, so he said to her, "Your beauty has been recorded. Why don't you go change your clothes?"
After a day of getting along, Song Zhi and Zhou Qingti's relationship became more like sisters than that of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.
She smiled and said, "That's exactly what I meant."
After changing her clothes, she patted her belly and said with a smile, "Why do I feel like I can eat something again?"
Zhou Qingti and Lu Yanzhi both laughed. Lu Yanzhi had just peeled a shrimp and put it into the bowl she had just used: "Then have some more."
Song Zhi would eat the shrimp his son peeled even if he was full. He picked it up with chopsticks and put it in his mouth: "Thank you, son."
She and her son seemed to have returned to the old times.
The afternoon plan was to visit some tourist attractions again. Song Zhi's husband didn't come today because he had work to deal with. Lu Yanzhi walked on the streets of Toronto with the two most important women in his life.
Song Zhi has been to this park more than once, but this is the only time she was accompanied by her son and daughter-in-law. It was a special kind of happiness, and the winter sun was so warm.
In the evening, they went to eat Italian food together again. Song Zhi said, "If you come here in autumn, the maple leaves here will be particularly beautiful."
Zhou Qingti clapped his hands and said excitedly, "I know, Quebec! It's synonymous with romantic autumn."
Song Zhi smiled and said, "Did you watch Goblin?"
Zhou Qingti was a little surprised: "Mom, you have watched it too?" Aren't Korean dramas what little girls like to watch?
Mother Lu smiled proudly. She and her daughter-in-law found a common topic again: "Of course."
The two women began to talk about Korean dramas enthusiastically, such as which Oppa is more handsome, has a better figure, and which Korean drama is their favorite.
Lu Yanzhi didn't know what they were talking about, but he was secretly jealous.
…
The weather forecast shows that today will be the last sunny day of their stay in Toronto.
We set off for Niagara Falls early. In winter, Niagara Falls is the guardian of the glaciers, and the blue water curtain falls from a great height.
In summer, you can take a boat to the foot of the waterfall for a close encounter, but it was too cold now, so Zhou Qingti just took photos on the observation deck.
Lu Yanzhi pointed to the other side of the waterfall and said, "That's New York, USA. I also came to see this waterfall when I was in New York."
Times have changed. When he stood there looking at the waterfall a few years ago, he never imagined that one day he would come there with his beloved woman.
Traveling is quite tiring. Even though they were traveling at such a leisurely pace, Zhou Qingti's legs were still sore after a day of walking.
After taking a shower, Lu Yanzhi took a bottle of essential oil and said to Zhou Qingti, "Lie down, I'll give you a massage."
Zhou Qingti lay down on the bed obediently: "Then I'll give you a massage later."
"Take off your nightgown." Lu Yanzhi dropped a few drops of rose essential oil on his palm and rubbed it.
It was indeed difficult to massage while wearing a nightgown, so Zhou Qingti untied the belt of her nightgown. Anyway, she was lying on her stomach and still wearing underwear, so she was not that shy.
Lu Yanzhi looked at her curvy back. The black lace made her skin look particularly fair.
With his hands covering her smooth back, Lu Yanzhi was really helping her press her shoulders and neck seriously at first, and the fatigue of the past two days was relieved.
Then he gently slid his hand down her bare back, touching her slightly protruding spine.
The essential oil felt slightly warm in his palm, very relaxing and soothing. Then his hand hovered over her waist, seemingly stroking it gently back and forth.
"Does it hurt?"
"My waist doesn't hurt." Zhou Qingti lay on the bed, one side of his face was squeezed, and his speech was slurred.
Lu Yanzhi seemed to have received a satisfactory answer, so he moved his hand upwards, his fingertips wandering along her back.
"Itchy." Zhou Qingti twisted his body in dissatisfaction.
Lu Yanzhi added two more drops of essential oil, rubbed it, and covered her fair and straight thighs.
Both legs were pressed all over.
Zhou Qingti felt comfortable all over. He reached out and took the robe: "Let me help you massage now."
Lu Yanzhi's fingertips moved to her waist: "I'm not tired, there's only one place I need you to massage."
Zhou Qingti understood what he meant when his hands covered her hips.
Lu Yanzhi hooked his finger, and the black lace slid down, and the string in Zhou Qingti's mind broke.
He took a tissue and slowly wiped the essential oil off her back.
Zhou Qingti buried his face in the pillow.
Lu Yanzhi was quite patient. He gathered her long hair with his fingers, and the feeling of her hair brushing against her shoulders was magnified.
Lu Yanzhi chuckled, as if sensing her patience. He reached out and turned off the light, a familiar scent enveloping her.
