Chapter 28 The Lie Exposed

Chapter 28 The Lie Exposed

The meals in the old house are mainly light and easy to digest ingredients, suitable for the elderly.

However, the chef of the old house was hired at a high price, and he can cook even the simplest food deliciously.

The soft and sticky rice cakes paired with the fresh yellow croaker are delicious when dipped in the soup. The spring water beef is not overly oily, and the beef is tender and refreshing after being braised.

There is also fried bacon with green peas, which is a great dish to go with rice. Zhou Qingti can eat half an extra bowl of rice every time he comes to the old house.

Grandma asked them if they wanted to stay and rest for a night, as tomorrow was the weekend.

Lu Yanzhi looked at Zhou Qingti for her opinion. She knew that her grandmother wanted them to stay, so she could only nod.

Because she stayed there, she had a lot more time, so her grandmother took her to her room and said she had something good for her.

The old lady's room has an antique feel, with log and dark sandalwood as the main colors.

There is a folding screen in the room, with traditional Chinese Suzhou embroidery on it. The flowers and birds embroidered with fine silk threads are lifelike, and glow faintly under the warm light. It is said to be the work of a Suzhou embroidery artist.

On the rosewood flower cabinet, there are two emerald jade vases, in which are placed a few blooming lotus flowers and two blue hydrangeas. The light blue and pale pink converge into a warm tone.

There was actually a guqin in the corner. The room was not big, but it exuded an expensive feeling that made her feel daunted.

No wonder some people say that it’s not that China doesn’t have luxury goods, but that most people can’t afford traditional Chinese luxury goods.

The old lady took out a jade pendant wrapped in red cloth from her dressing box and handed it to her: "This is given to every daughter-in-law who marries into the Lu family. Keep it well."

It was a piece of warm jade, a family heirloom. It wasn't priceless, but it was passed down from the Lu family's ancestors.

Zhou Qingti felt that the jade was a little hot, and swallowed his saliva: "Grandma, I think it's safest to keep it with you."

The old lady insisted on giving it to her, and she could only say: "Grandma, if you give it to me, I will also give it to Yanzhi for safekeeping. It's better to leave it with you."

Zhou Qingti repeatedly refused, and the old lady had no choice but to put it away: "Then I'll keep it for you."

The old lady sighed, "Our Lu family has treated you so badly."

Zhou Qingti didn't know where this came from. She always felt that she was the one who took advantage. In terms of material things, every elder in the Lu family gave her expensive gifts, not to mention how good her grandmother and Lu Yanzhi were to her.

The old lady didn't say anything else, but patted her hands and said, "Go up and have a rest. Tell Yanzhi to come down. I have something to ask him."

Zhou Qingti suddenly had a bad feeling but he had no choice but to go upstairs.

Lu Yanzhi's room was on the fourth floor. It was very modern, but just as empty and cold as his home.

Seeing Zhou Qingti coming in, he stood up and greeted her, "What did grandma say to you?"

"She gave me a piece of warm jade, but I didn't want it. Grandma asked you to go downstairs to ask you something, and I always have a bad feeling." Zhou Qingti frowned.

Lu Yanzhi gently squeezed her arm to comfort her: "It's okay, I'm here. Take a shower first, your pajamas are new."

After Zhou Qingti and he got their marriage certificate, grandma prepared a full set of new clothes in the old house for her to come and live with her.

The old lady was making scented tea in the tea room on the second floor. Lu Yanzhi walked over and said, "Grandma, please drink less tea at night."

It is inconvenient for the elderly to get up at night.

"It's okay to have two small cups." The old lady poured him a cup.

After slowly sipping her tea, the old lady spoke slowly, "You and Qingti got married without the three letters and six ceremonies, the four betrothal gifts, and the five golds, and you didn't even have a wedding photo."

The old lady glanced at the ring on his hand and said disdainfully, "Even the wedding ring was bought casually to fool us."

It turned out that grandma knew everything. Lu Yanzhi didn't know how to explain, "Grandma, don't be angry."

"A person's eyes are the most deceptive. When you brought Qingti to see us, you kept talking about love, but there was no love in your eyes. But now I can see that you both have each other in your hearts."

The old lady took a sip of tea to moisten her throat and continued, "Since you have feelings, make up for those etiquettes and start living a good life. Grandma can help you prepare."

Faced with such a shrewd old lady, Lu Yanzhi could only confess.

"Grandma, I admit that I used some tricks to marry her, but I like Qingti. It takes time to accumulate affection before it can turn into love. People need to slowly get along with each other. As for the etiquette you mentioned, I want to wait a little longer."

The old lady understood, and she felt relieved knowing that the two younger generations were truly working towards that goal.

People of her generation were all arranged by their parents and matchmakers. Some even got married without ever meeting each other, and they continued to love each other till old age.

So Mrs. Lu felt that it didn’t matter why they got married, what was important was how to cultivate feelings and make the marriage last.

Lu Yanzhi continued, "Qingti and I will not separate unless there is a principled issue."

The old lady watched Lu Yanzhi grow up and knew that he was a responsible person.

When his parents were getting divorced, he asked his grandmother, "Why did Dad marry Mom but not love her well?"

His mother taught him to be responsible and affectionate.

"Okay. I can only feel at ease if you live well." The old lady stood up and said, "Go back to your room."

Lu Yanzhi helped the old lady back to her room to rest before leisurely walking up the stairs to the fourth floor.

When Zhou Qingti heard the sound of the door opening, he immediately put down his phone and stood up to look at the man at the door: "What did grandma say?"

Lu Yanzhi smiled indulgently at her anxious expression, and wanted to tease her: "Grandma said that we should love each other and give her a great-granddaughter."

Zhou Qingti's face suddenly heated up, the tips of his ears turned red, and he subconsciously opened his mouth and let out a cry.

Lu Yanzhi walked to the bedside and began to untie his watch. In Zhou Qingti's eyes, it was a really beautiful pair of hands.

The nails are clean, round, white and strong, and the blood vessels and veins on the back of the hands have a natural sexiness.

Yes, it's sexy.

The metal surface on the wrist reflects the light, shining like crystal.

Zhou Qingti's heart beat faster as he watched his movements.

If those hands were to hold his waist... restricted scenes would begin to play out in Zhou Qingti's mind.

"Um...I'm going to take a shower." Zhou Qingti hid in the bathroom in a panic.

Lu Yanzhi looked at her fleeing back with a smile on his face, and put the watch on the bedside table.

Out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of pajamas at the end of the bed, but he didn't say anything to remind her.

Sure enough, after taking a shower, Zhou Qingti found that he had not brought in his spare clothes, and he was embarrassed to ask Lu Yanzhi to get them.

Fortunately, she had a bathrobe. When Zhou Qingti put it on, she found it was a little big. She tied the belt hastily and thought about getting some clothes to change into.

Lu Yanzhi was sitting at the end of the bed looking at his phone. Ever since he met Zhou Qingti that day, his brothers seemed to be possessed by a hundred thousand questions.

[Lu Yanzhi, why did you get married so quickly? ]

[Why did Zhou Qingti marry you? Don’t you think you’re boring?]

Did you have your wedding? Why didn’t I receive an invitation?

[You told us after you got married, so I don’t need to give you a gift.]

Mr. Lu, could you please share your psychological journey towards marriage?

Even the group name was changed to (I don’t believe Mr. Lu is married)

It was understandable that they were so excited. After all, Lu Yanzhi was the epitome of a man who was not interested in women, and it was normal for him to be single until he was forty.

Lu Yanzhi doesn't talk much when he is with his friends, so outsiders just think he is a workaholic.

Suddenly he became the first among the five people to get a marriage certificate, and everyone was confused.

As for Lu Yanzhi, he answered their questions: [First Intuition]

What happened later also told him that his intuition was correct.

[Hold the wedding later, prepare your big red envelopes]

Seeing that he could even say such words as his first instinct, Xu Jia shook his head and felt that Lu Yanzhi was hopeless.

Xu Jia: Love Makes People Blind

Ah Hai: [Hey, have you signed a prenuptial agreement? It's easy to get a divorce, but we don't want to see your assets halved after each marriage.]

Lu Yanzhi: [I'm not planning on getting a divorce, so please don't make such irresponsible jokes from now on. I won't take it personally, but please don't make her feel uncomfortable.]

[…Lu Yanzhi, are you still dominated by your wife?]

Lu Yanzhi quickly typed four words: [This is respect] and clicked the send button. Zhou Qingti just came out of the bathroom.
