Chapter 2 Arranged Marriage (1/2)

The original owner of the same name and surname as Xiao Jiahua was an ambitious high school student.

She was suddenly arranged to get married by her father, and she had a husband who came from the city, and her nephew became a "son".

If you put yourself in their shoes, it would be hard for anyone to accept.

Before Xiao Jiahua came over, the original owner had been in a cold war with his father, elder brother and sister-in-law for three months.

Fortunately, in this family, the mother Cui Lifen is the kindest one. She always secretly brings food to support her daughter and grandson.

Xiao Dabao had a keen nose. He smelled the corn cakes in the bowl and cried with emotion: "Grandma, is this for us?"

"Silly child, how can you give it to others? Take it and eat it quickly."

Cui Lifen felt distressed when she saw her grandson who was as thin as a bamboo pole.

But she felt she owed her daughter so much that she couldn't hit or scold her. She had no choice but to send her some rice, flour, grain and oil every now and then to take care of her.

Xiao Dabao got the corn cake, but he didn't eat it alone. He carefully broke it into pieces and stuffed most of it into Xiao Jiahua's hand, "Mom, you eat it!"

Then he ate another half and fed it to his younger brother mouthful by mouthful.

Finally, he wolfed down his portion and squatted silently in front of his grandmother to learn how to stew the chicken.

Xiao Jiahua didn't like watching this scene, so he ran into the house, thinking out of sight, out of mind.

The aroma of chicken meat is soon wafting through the yard.

After a while, Xiao Dabao held the porcelain bowl, walked over the threshold, and raised it to the table that was as tall as him.

"Mom, you eat first, be careful of the heat."

In the bowl lay a whole large chicken drumstick and a few potatoes soaked in soup.

Although he was so hungry that he was seeing stars, Xiao Jiahua couldn't put down his chopsticks.

Even in her previous life, her biological father had never personally cooked soup for her like he did now.

Cui Lifen took off her apron and came in, thinking that the stewed chicken was not to her daughter's taste.

She said helplessly: "Xiaoxiao, there is only salt at home, you have to make do with it for now. I will ask your eldest brother to come over tomorrow and bring some pepper and cinnamon..."

Xiao Jiahua shook his head, "Mom, bring some with you later and eat with Dad."

This is what it means to break the ice and reconcile. Cui Lifen was somewhat moved.

"No need. Your father has a job and knows how to hunt. There is no shortage of food at home."

After saying that, she lit the stove again and spread out a few sorghum cakes for her daughter and grandson to heat up and eat the next morning.

The mother was so worried that she wanted to hang the cake around her daughter's neck.

Before cooking, Cui Lifen put some boneless chicken pieces in a bowl and wrapped them in steaming cloth.

She said to Xiao Jiahua tentatively, "Xiaoxiao, take these to the compound and give them to you. August 10th is coming soon, don't let people gossip."

What, what?

Xiao Jiahua recalled that the son-in-law who married into his family and with whom he had only lived for half a day did have a father who was a "bad boy" and lived in a labor camp shed in the village.

I'm afraid this is the reason why that person was willing to lower himself and marry into the Xiao family.

.

Since she had no choice but to stay, the biggest problem that Xiao Jiahua had to face was: she was married, but her husband was a son-in-law who married into the family.

Before she traveled through time, the college entrance examination had been suspended, but the original owner still wanted to stay in the city and realize her value with her classmates.

Unfortunately, at the beginning of spring, the school brother died and the whole family was immersed in grief.

To make matters worse, just after the seventh day of school brother's death, his sister-in-law Cuizhi abandoned Dabao and Shitou and ran away to her parents' home with the pension.

The Xiao family could not accept this, and the two families confronted each other for more than half a month, which provided a lot of gossip in the village.

When Cuizhi made a fuss at the town government, she was labeled as "oppressing women" and was put on the moral high ground.

The principal, Shuan-chi, was already heartbroken and desperate to see his son die, and he didn't want to make things too embarrassing, so he could only take his two kids home and sigh.

As a result, the family’s working and subsidized labor force was gone, leaving only a pair of cubs who could only open their mouths to eat.

The eldest brother's family didn't say anything at first, but when they saw that the food at home was getting less and less, Mrs. Xiao couldn't sit still anymore.

The eldest daughter has given birth to a boy and a girl, and his wife Zhang Hongna is pregnant with another child.

Whenever there is something delicious, my sister-in-law always serves her own baby first.

Whenever the children had conflicts or bumped into each other, the eldest sister-in-law would always grab Dabao and Shitou and either beat or scold them.

Xiao Laoshuan and Cui Lifen couldn't stand it and tried to persuade their eldest daughter-in-law.

Sister-in-law Zhang Hongna immediately started cursing while sticking out her belly.

"Bah, two little bastards, born by a mother but not raised by her. As their mother, am I not allowed to take care of them?"

"Why don't I just go back to my parents' house, give birth to four children, and live on my own!"

The running away of their daughter-in-law was a source of worry to the old couple, and the elder no longer dared to mediate.

They could only watch as Dabao and Xiaoshitou were harshly criticized.

Zhang Hongna was still dissatisfied with this and was still trying to find a way to transfer the two children away.

But nowadays, every household is short of food and clothing. They are lucky enough not to starve to death. How can they have the energy to raise other people’s children?

Zhang Hongna looked around and finally decided on her sister-in-law.

Xiao Jiahua is a free man, isn't it suitable for him to raise a nephew?

She consulted her parents' home and someone actually handed her a pillow.

It was said that there was a distant relative in a certain city. After the head of the family got divorced, he was labeled as an "anti-school bully" and sent to a farm in Qinghe Village for reform.

The family has a son who just graduated from college. Due to his poor family background, he was unable to get a job.

For this young man, only by changing his character can he join the army and solve his employment problem.

For example, by getting married and marrying into a poor peasant family.

In this way, if the Yue family is kind-hearted, they can still take care of his old father.

When the old couple of the Xiao family heard that the man was a city dweller, a college student, and was going to join the army, they were very happy at first.

But when he learned about his relative's success, Principal Laoshuan immediately objected.

"No, no, Xiaoxiao will go to college in the future, so how can she marry the son of a bad uncle?"

The matchmaker was not happy: "If Cheng Yu was not good, who would be willing to marry into the countryside and become a live-in son-in-law?"

Zhang Hongna closed the door and continued to persuade her mother-in-law: "The college entrance examination has been suspended now. Xiaoxiao has a rural household registration and will not have a formal job after graduation. It is better for her to settle down and get married in her hometown."

Of course, Zhang Hongna has her own selfish motives. She hopes that after Xiao Jiahua gets married, he can go back to his hometown to take care of the children.

But it has to be said that these words really touched the hearts of the old couple.

In the past two years, more and more educated youth have gone to the countryside. After my daughter graduated from high school, it is indeed safer for her to stay in Qinghe Village.

Cui Lifen was still a little hesitant: "For a child this old, I should discuss it with Xiaoxiao first."

Zhang Hongna was so angry that she covered her stomach again.

"She's just a nerd, what can she know? How can she rebel? She's already 18 years old and still has so many ideals in her head. She might as well get married so she can focus on her life and stop running around outside every day!"
