Chapter 13 Bird Eggs (2/2)

In the afternoon, he went to the town's post office, where a high school classmate of his worked. The old classmates reminisced about the past and drank some wine. Seeing that the time was right, Wei Dong made his intentions known.

He took out an envelope from his pocket and showed it to his old classmates: anything sent to this address should be forwarded to the army.

The old classmate smiled and said why bother, parents and siblings are all here.

Wei Dong said that the things were sent to his wife, but she was going to join the army and it was not convenient for her to receive them.

Only then did his old classmates know that he was married. Wei Dong apologized deeply and punished himself by drinking three cups.

That's how it was done.

As for why he had to do this, Wei Dong didn't know what he wanted to do.

The train was in the afternoon, but Lian Yuqing was woken up early anyway.

When she questioned him, Wei Dong explained calmly, "First take a bullock cart to town, then take a bus to the next city to catch the train, so you only have an hour and a half to eat and clean up."

Lian Yuqing really wanted to say, why don’t you just go by yourself, but then he thought better of it.

Scratching his hair in annoyance, he threw back the quilt and got out of bed. Wei Dong added: "Hurry up and wash up. The rice is still hot in the pot."

Lian Yuqing glared at him, "Shut up."

The Wei family had already eaten. Because their son and daughter-in-law were away on a trip, Chen Caiqi got up early to cook. She wanted to go to Lian Yuqing, but was stopped by Wei Dong.

When Wei Dong turned around, Chen Caiqi was still muttering that they had a fight last night and made up a day later.

Wei Miaomiao helped put the food on the table. It was still early, and Lian Yuqing couldn't eat much. She was tired from sleeping and had a gloomy face. Miaomiao had to coax her, "Sister-in-law, you are the train leader. Eat more and don't be hungry."

She was about to ask if there was food on the train, but she stopped talking. She was in her seventies and poor.

Resigned to his fate, he picked up the chopsticks and tried to stuff food into his mouth.

When Wei Dong came in, Lian Yuqing was still eating, and Miaomiao sat beside her and chatted with her.

He put a cloth bag on the table, opened it and Wei Miaomiao said in surprise: "It's bird eggs."

"It's already baked, eat it."

Lian Yuqing could already smell the fragrance, but the black eggshell made it difficult for her to start. She stared at the man in front of her, "How about you help me peel it? I'm eating."

Wei Dong had seen her using chopsticks to pick food from the bowl but she hadn't taken a single bite. He was too lazy to expose her and was ready to sit down, but after a moment's thought, he went outside to wash his hands.

The man, who is usually taciturn, now lowered his head and quietly peeled the eggshell. Bird eggs are very small and are more difficult to peel than chicken eggs. His fingers are nimble and he peeled off the shell in a few strokes, and the egg was still intact.

With his bony fingers pinching a smooth and shiny bird egg, Lian Yuqing blinked her eyes. Under her eager gaze, Wei Dong handed the first egg to her sister.

Wei Miaomiao took it in a panic, "Sister-in-law, you eat it."

"You eat it."

Wei Miaomiao ate it with trepidation, and her good sister-in-law did not get angry.

Lian Yuqing turned around and said to Wei Dong with a smile on his face: "It should be my turn next."

Although his tone was full of threats, Wei Dong calmly peeled an egg.

This time Wei Dong didn't plan to tease her. He was about to put the egg in her bowl, but Lian Yuqing opened her mouth and said, "Ah~"

She raised her chin slightly, and opened her pink mouth without caring about her shape. From this angle, one could see her long, curled eyelashes and glass-bead-like pupils.

Wei Dong was stunned for a moment, and when he came to his senses, he threw the bird egg directly into her mouth. Lian Yuqing caught it in panic and almost choked to death.

Straight guy!
