Chapter 25 Cooking
Pan Yuecheng hugged his wife's thin shoulders and said, "Min'er, you don't have to feel too much pressure. I won't force you."
The color on Jiang Min's face disappeared, and his tone became cold. "If you don't urge me, won't your parents urge me? Even this illiterate village girl dares to laugh at me. When have I, Jiang Min, ever felt so aggrieved?"
Tears welled up in my eyes. Jiang Min and Pan Yuecheng were childhood sweethearts. They got married on their own when they grew up. In the first few years, they lived a very sweet life.
But the couple had no children, and pressure came with it. Parents, relatives, and even outsiders kept urging them to have a baby. Jiang Min was very concerned about her reputation, so she always told others that she was not in a hurry. In fact, she was as anxious as an ant on hot pan. The couple had quarreled several times over this.
If Jiang Min hadn't had any shame, she would have had a quarrel with them yesterday. Although Lian Yuqing was not a good person, he lived a free and easy life.
"Then I'll tell them later that I don't want children yet. Is that ok with you?"
Jiang Min shed tears silently, and Pan Yuecheng hugged his wife tighter.
…
Lian Yuqing reported the menu last night, and Wei Dong agreed, saying that there was no food at home.
After coming back from training in the morning, Wei Dong asked a few sisters-in-law downstairs and bought some vegetables from them.
They were all from the same compound, so they didn't ask him for money. After all, they were just vegetables, not meat, so he couldn't afford to ask for money.
Wei Dong secretly took note that he still had to repay the favor.
As soon as he left, people started talking about him behind his back.
"Who in his family can cook?"
"Captain Wei always comes to order the dishes. Do you expect her to cook?"
"This man is tired all day, and he still has to cook for her after work. He really thinks he is a rich lady!"
This sounded sour, and one of them said, "It's OK if the man is willing to serve you."
"cut."
When they got home, Lian Yuqing was still asleep. Wei Dong had breakfast by himself. Before leaving, he wrote a note and put it on her forehead to make sure she could see it.
Lian Yuqing opened his eyes, but his vision was blocked by something in front of him. He took it down and took a look, and almost laughed out of anger.
The writing on the paper is good, but the content is...
Wash the vegetables before going home at noon.
Haha, Lian Yuqing threw the note away unhappily.
The clock in the living room struck 11 o'clock, and Wei Dong came in half an hour later.
Ten minutes later, she reluctantly stood up, went to the kitchen, bent over to dig into the bag, and put the vegetables in the sink.
"Wei Dong, you better cook delicious food, otherwise..."
His fate was to have the stems of the peppers pulled out of his hands.
This time when I opened the door, the house was no longer quiet; I could hear the sound of water splashing from the kitchen.
Wei Dong raised his eyebrows. He was not really washing vegetables.
"Wei Dong, the vegetables are washed, come and cook." Lian Yuqing poked his head out of the kitchen, his tone brooking no refusal.
With long strides, the vegetables were broken into pieces and piled in an enamel basin, covered with crystal clear water droplets.
The slender green and red peppers, with their stems removed, were neatly placed on the plate, ignoring the water on the ground and her soaked clothes.
Wei Dong walked into the kitchen and the space suddenly seemed small, with no space even to turn around.
"Chop some more garlic."
Da Zhang put the pot under the faucet to rinse it, and waited for a long time, but there was no response from her, so Wei Dong turned his head to look at her.
Lian Yuqing frowned, "I don't want to peel the garlic, and I don't have gloves. My hands will be full of garlic smell and I won't be able to wash it off."
Forget it, it’s okay without garlic.
"Pretentious."
Lian Yuqing automatically gave up his seat to the chef and leaned against the door frame, "It's fine if you're being pretentious."
