"Girl, hurry up and get up and have breakfast. You have to go to school to get your report card later!"
A very familiar voice sounded in Zhao Hanyun's ears, "Mom, I'm grown up and don't want to go to school anymore!" Zhao Hanyun answered in a daze, asking her to sleep a little longer. Yesterday's dream was so real. She was really too tired. Could it be that she was too tired from work and had hallucinations?
"Hurry up, what nonsense are you talking about? You've grown up at just a few years old, you're such a smart kid." Yan Jinlan looked at her daughter curled up in the quilt and found it very funny to listen to her declaration of growing up. Now she had a reason to stay in bed.
Just as Zhao Hanyun was about to retort, he suddenly woke up. His voice was too childish. Was that dream from yesterday real? Zhao Hanyun sat up suddenly, startling Yan Jinlan, who was tidying up nearby. "I told you to ignore me just now, and you suddenly got up in such a hurry that you scared me!" He deliberately patted his chest and said, "Hurry up if you can. There will be a lot of people soon. I'll go get you breakfast, hurry up."
Zhao Hanyun was staring at her hands. She'd pinched them earlier, and it still hurt. The visibly shrunken hands and her youthful mother reminded her of something: she hadn't dreamed yesterday; she'd truly returned to her childhood. She wasn't entirely sure how old she was now, though. Her mother had seemed to say she was going to school and would wait and see what happened.
Zhao Hanyun happily finished her first meal since returning home, the white rice porridge with pickles she'd enjoyed growing up. Sitting across from her young mother, she rode the Phoenix bicycle she remembered her mother on to school. When the long-demolished school building in her memory appeared before her, and her mother led her to the classroom, she was speechless. The words "Grade 1, Class 2" struck her fragile heart like a boulder. "Wow... can I do it all over again?" She didn't want to go back to elementary school; it was too humiliating for her, already mature.
Luckily, she only came here today to pick up her report card and summer homework, otherwise it would have been torture for her to sit in the classroom! The grades on the report card were just so-so, not too high, just above average. I couldn't really find any memories of them, so forget it. It was vacation time anyway, so I could talk about it next semester.
Yan Jinlan was a little disappointed with Zhao Hanyun's grades, but since it was just the holiday, she decided to give her daughter a couple of days to relax. "There's still some grass in the field. I'll go clean it up. You stay home and read a book. Don't run around, okay?" After getting Zhao Hanyun's assurance, Yan Jinlan finally left. After all, the field was right behind the house, so she could see everything.
There were only three people in this family, Zhao Hanyun and his family. Zhao Hanyun's father, Zhao Jianguo, was a carpenter. Every day he went out to make furniture or do simple renovations for other people's homes. He didn't work as much now as he did later, but he was lucky to have enough food to eat and a little extra money in his hands. His mother, Yan Jinlan, had not worked outside since Zhao Hanyun was born. She was a real housewife and would clean the house inside and out whenever she had nothing to do. No one in the village mentioned Yan Jinlan without praising her diligence and good housekeeping. As for his grandparents, they had passed away long ago. Zhao Hanyun remembered from listening to his parents' conversation that his grandfather was an outsider. He had joined the army to fight the Japanese and was assigned here after being discharged. The village was called Lijia Village. The most common surname in the village was Li, followed by Jiang, but the Zhao family was only Zhao Hanyun's. It is said that this bungalow at home was the house that the landlords and rich people didn't want anymore. Grandpa was allocated a house and land here, married a wife, had several children, and finally raised Zhao Hanyun's father and her aunt. After the family finally lived a good life and the children grew up, they could finally have enough food to eat, but grandpa passed away. When my aunt got married and my father married my mother, my grandmother passed away a few years later. Whenever my father mentioned my grandparents, he always sighed and said that the old couple had suffered all their lives and had never enjoyed a single day of happiness.
Taking advantage of the fact that no one was at home, Zhao Hanyun excitedly looked around the house. These were all things from her memory from long ago. Unfortunately, there was no camera at home. Even telephones had just been introduced. Even Zhao Hanyun's father only had a beeping machine. Her uncle did have one, but it was too far away and inconvenient, otherwise she would have taken pictures as a souvenir.
Stopping in front of the big mirror at home, Zhao Hanyun looked at the little girl inside with great confusion. It was nice to be able to go back to her childhood, but as a mature girl who looked like a loli inside and out, it was a little hard to accept!
"Uncle, can't you let me choose a time when you send me back? I'm too young!" Zhao Hanyun was discouraged. He knew that the weird old man was unreliable. He was too young. Even if he had any ideas, he had to convince his parents. "No, I have to think of a way!"
