Chapter 60: The Fierce Second Cousin
Cui Xue was stunned by the reaction of her second cousin. She didn’t know what to say for a moment.
Perhaps because she heard the good news, she became more friendly to Cui Xue and the others. She invited them into the
house. She followed her into the yard. Compared with the eldest cousin’s house, the yard was much messier. When she passed by a basket blocking the way, Liang Erni kicked it away.
“What kind of poor beggar dares to bring it home? Do you think the food in the house is blown in by the wind?”
The second cousin’s mother-in-law was probably in the room, paying attention to the situation outside. When she saw the second cousin bringing them in, the woman ran out immediately, cursing.
The third uncle frowned. If it wasn't a woman, he would have gone up to hit her.
But the third uncle couldn't do anything, but Cui Xue wasn't afraid. As the second cousin's family member, she was slapped in the face like this, but she didn't resist. Wouldn't that make the second cousin look weaker?
In such a husband's family, only a strong family can prevent the girl from suffering.
So Cui Xue put her hands on her waist and started to spray at the woman.
"I don't know if your food was blown in by the wind, but what you eat on a daily basis is definitely different from ours. You spray shit all over your mouth. I'm afraid you must have gone to the dry toilet in the village to relieve yourself."
Liang Erni, who originally wanted to teach her mother-in-law a lesson, was stunned when she heard Cui Xue speak, and then she heard her say:
"We haven't even entered the house yet, and you're already talking nonsense. If those two eyes are useless, you might as well just poke them out. You say we are poor? Look at the clothes I'm wearing. Half of your body is buried in the ground, and you haven't worn them once, right? You say we are taking advantage of you? Look at this poor family, and you're the only one who treats them as treasures. Bah! You're bullying my second cousin's family because there's no one there? Don't think I won't hit you just because you're the elder!"
After Cui Xue said this, Liang Erni and her mother-in-law took a serious look at Cui Xue and found that it was just as she said. They had never seen that piece of material before.
For a moment, Liang Erni's mother-in-law's eyes widened, and her eyes rolled, and a flattering smile appeared on her face.
"Oh, I was wrong. I'm a poor country woman. I didn't realize that the girl was so capable. Bao'er's mother, which sister is this?"
Liang Erni ignored her and turned to Cui Xue and said, "Ignore this snobbish person. Come with me into the house." Then she continued to walk into the house.
Cui Xue grabbed her third uncle who wanted to talk to her second cousin's mother-in-law and followed Liang Erni into the house.
As soon as she entered the house, she saw a three-year-old and a one-year-old baby curled up in Erni's arms.
"Cousin, these two are my nephews, right?" Cui Xue looked at their old clothes that were washed white, and couldn't help thinking that her mother was thoughtful and asked her to bring several pieces of fabric.
"Come on, call aunt, that's third uncle" Liang Erni nodded and pulled the two children to call people.
The older one called out to them obediently, while the younger one, who hadn't learned how to call out yet, also looked at them obediently while biting his fingers.
The third uncle responded happily, and Cui Xue put down the big bag she had carried in, unpacked it, and took out snacks for the two children.
Only then did Liang Erni notice that she had brought a lot of things, and her eyes widened.
"Cousin, these are all things my mother asked me to bring, so I can't refuse them. If I carry them back, my mother will beat me to death." She
used the same rhetoric, and was afraid that Liang Erni would not accept them, so she took out the things inside while she was talking.
The two children probably had never seen so many good things, and they stared at them with their eyes wide open, their eyes sparkling as they saw the food.
When she had almost finished looking through the things, she realized that Liang Erni hadn't spoken for a long time, and when she looked up, she saw that she was biting her lower lip tightly, and her eyes were red and scary.
Cui Xue was startled, but she loosened her bitten lips, raised her eyes and forced back the tears in her eyes.
"My aunt has always loved me and my elder sister. What I have, my elder sister must have a share, right?"
Seeing Cui Xue nod, she finally couldn't help but wipe away a tear.
"When I get back, I will definitely go to see my aunt."
"It would be better if you bring my two nephews with you and let them stay at my house for a few days." Cui Xue invited with a smile.
"What about your three nephews? The older ones went out to work with their father and should be back soon."
"How old are you to go to work?" Cui Xue was shocked.
"Eight years old, I can get a few work points by helping to cut pig grass, at least I can support myself." Liang Erni said calmly, and Cui Xue and the others felt uncomfortable listening to it.
Although most children in the village are like this, the lives of people in Daping Village and Daliang Village are much better, and the children there are not so tired.
As they were talking, they heard voices outside. After listening carefully, they found that it was Liang Erni's mother-in-law who was complaining.
Cui Xue glanced at Liang Erni and saw that she had a sullen face and was silent.
"Mom!" The first person to enter the house was a half-grown child. When he saw someone in the house, his originally happy expression paused, and then he stood there a little awkwardly.
"Come, call your aunt and your third uncle." Liang Erni waved and called the older one over.
With his mother around, the child became much braver and called people loudly.
After a long time, Liang Erni's husband came in. At a glance, he was a dark and thin man. When he entered the house, he found that his leg was a little lame?
Not to mention Cui Xue, even the third uncle widened his eyes.
He remembered that when Erni got married, her husband's foot was fine, right?
After listening to Liang Erni's introduction, the man smiled at them shyly, said hello, and then was instructed by Liang Erni to cook.
"Ernii, his foot..." After everyone left, the third uncle asked hesitantly.
Liang Erni smiled and said, "I beat him."
Shocked!
"What?" The third uncle suspected that he had heard it wrong.
"Uncle San, I beat him." Thinking of the past, Liang Erni's eyes were a little red.
"After I got married, the mother and son bullied me. When I gave birth to my eldest son, life became easier. But his mother was too good at finding faults and often sowed discord. One time, they had a serious quarrel and started fighting. I couldn't help but beat him half to death."
Liang Erni laughed again.
"Although I didn't get anything good out of them, after that, they didn't dare to make trouble for me anymore. If I had known that a beating would make life comfortable, I wouldn't have to endure it for so long."
She said it lightly, but you can imagine that her life must have been difficult during these years, especially before she gave birth to her first child.
Fortunately, her first child was a son, and the three children she gave birth to were all sons. For Liang Erni, her position in her husband's family was stable.
After the meal was ready, Liang Erni's father-in-law also came back. He looked like an honest man, but I don't know why he married such a fierce daughter-in-law.
He was very happy to see Cui Xue and the others. It can be seen that he really welcomes them, unlike his daughter-in-law who looks down on others.
