"I don't want to hear your excuses!" Cheng Cheng snorted, sitting down with a rather unpleasant expression.
We promised to be brothers for life, but my brother abandoned me in the blink of an eye!
Seeing his expression, Xiao Ye couldn't help but chuckle.
"You're still laughing!" Cheng Cheng glared at him. "Serious, serious! Stay serious!"
Xiao Ye then suppressed his smile and took out the first stack of documents: "These are my application materials for admission without examination. It's all finished. There are some handwriting samples inside that I've sorted out for you..."
"That's not what I want to see."
Before he could even speak, Cheng Cheng snatched the stack of documents.
After setting it aside, he snorted coldly: "She secretly recommended him for admission without telling me."
Is that all you're telling me?
Seeing Cheng Cheng's resentful look, Xiao Ye shook his head: "No, there's a second one."
Xiao Ye placed the second document in front of Cheng Cheng and explained, "This is my enlistment notice. They want me to enlist directly and participate in training."
I can only apply for direct admission, and my student status will be retained for a few years after I'm discharged from the military.
"Enlistment notice? You're not even an adult yet." Cheng Cheng's eyes widened when he saw the red-headed document in front of him.
He looked at it carefully, confirming that it was indeed the case, and couldn't help but frown: "Why would this happen? Was the notice sent directly to you from above? Is it because your father often takes you to the military base?"
"Yes, it says that my overall evaluation has reached its best state and I can enlist."
"This document was sent directly to my dad from above, and I can't refuse to join the army." Xiao Ye pursed his lips and silently looked at Cheng Cheng.
He didn't dare say anything more.
Besides, it seems Cheng Cheng is about to get angry.
After reviewing the information from beginning to end, Cheng Cheng remained silent for a while before saying, "Does having this mean you're going on a mission? It must be very dangerous, right?"
"I don't know." Xiao Ye himself was unsure and could only shake his head.
Seeing Cheng Cheng's puzzled expression, he explained, "I will take good care of myself, so you don't need to worry too much."
"I'm not worried," Cheng Cheng replied haughtily, folding the documents and placing them on top of Xiao Ye's stack. "I'm not going to look at the rest. When are you planning to leave?"
Cheng Cheng folded the documents and put them back to Xiao Ye: "I don't need to look at the rest. When are you leaving?"
"I'll leave tomorrow." Xiao Ye looked at Cheng Cheng apologetically.
Cheng Cheng was taken aback for a moment: "So fast?"
"Yes, they urged me many times. This time, I really had no choice but to wait until I got the admission documents before I was ready to go." Xiao Ye explained, then glanced at him cautiously.
Cheng Cheng glanced at him and said, "Oh, I see."
Cheng Cheng, whose mind couldn't process much, could only nod.
Apart from feeling a little uncomfortable, he was fine.
"Hmm." Xiao Ye didn't know how to explain to Cheng Cheng, so he could only look at Cheng Cheng and wait for him to speak.
Cheng Cheng stood up and patted him on the shoulder: "How long are you going to be gone?"
“At least three years.” Xiao Ye clenched his fist, then relaxed it. “And there will be no holidays.”
Cheng Cheng remained silent for a moment before finally saying, "I see."
"Hmm," Xiao Ye didn't know why, but he couldn't say anything when faced with Cheng Cheng like this.
"Okay, I got it!" Cheng Cheng grinned.
But there was a hint of bitterness in his smile.
Xiao Ye choked.
Cheng Cheng acted as if nothing had happened, pulling a basketball from the corner: "Come on, let's go play basketball together."
"good!"
Xiao Ye nodded, stood up, and prepared to walk outside: "I'll go change my clothes."
"Why go back to your place? I have some there." Cheng Cheng pointed to her room. "It's not like I haven't worn them before. You're tall now, you can wear them too."
Xiao Ye went to his room as if he knew the way well, grabbed a basketball uniform, and put it on: "Let's go play basketball."
To make up for it, Xiao Ye played ball with Cheng Cheng all night long.
"Xiao Ye, don't forget me." Cheng Cheng opened a bottle of Fanta and sat down next to Xiao Ye to drink it.
Xiao Ye drank some plain water and nodded: "No, you're overthinking it."
"snort."
With a soft hum, Cheng Cheng still said, though her words were tough on her, "Take care of yourself. I want to see you come back alive."
"knew."
Xiao Ye smiled helplessly.
*
The next morning.
As soon as dawn broke, Xiao Ye got up.
He was dressed neatly and pushed his suitcase out the door.
Mr. Xiao and Ms. Zhou have already gotten up.
Ms. Zhou's eyes were red, and Mr. Xiao was surrounded by a tense atmosphere.
It seems the two of them had a huge fight last night.
Just then, Xiao Ye said, "Mom, I'll be back soon, don't be sad."
"Ah Ye!" Ms. Zhou called out, patting Mr. Xiao beside her: "It's all your fault, my son has to enlist in the army before he's even an adult!"
Mr. Xiao said apologetically, "A-Ye is really too amazing. They need him urgently, and there's nothing I can do."
Once the official document was issued, he had no reason to refuse.
Ms. Zhou still hit Mr. Xiao a few times.
Mr. Xiao didn't dare to refute a single word.
After eating the breakfast that Ms. Zhou had prepared with such care, which was a rare occurrence for him, Xiao Ye went over and hugged her: "Mom, it's okay."
"My Aye." Mrs. Zhou hugged Xiao Ye tightly for a long time before letting go, sobbing. "You must take good care of yourself."
Xiao Ye nodded: "It's just enlisting, it's a small matter."
