Chapter Eight: The Apocalyptic Society and the Outer Gods Alliance

"That's the truth, but whether you believe it or not is up to you. So, is there anything else you need, Miss Yifang?" Wu Yu acted like a rogue, completely disregarding Yifang's reaction.

"Okay, Mr. Wu Yu, I'm sorry to have taken up your time. I look forward to our next meeting." After being tricked by Wu Yu, Yi Fang did not get angry. Instead, she politely said goodbye to Wu Yu.

"You actually believed me?" Wu Yu didn't really have much hope for this.

“When doing business, you always have to have a backup plan. As I said, even if Mr. Wu Yu refuses to sell me the Dragon Treasure, I won’t cause you any trouble. I offended Mr. Wu Yu before, so if I can gain the forgiveness of a Saint-level expert this time, this deal will be worthwhile.” Yi Fang’s reply revealed her true nature as a businesswoman, with every step carefully calculated.

"Thank you so much." Wu Yu wasn't angry with Yi Fang when they first met, and hearing her words now made him even more convinced of her worth. If given the opportunity, he might consider establishing a cooperative relationship with her.

“Miss Yifang, would you like me to take you home? It’s getting late, and it’s dangerous for a young lady to walk alone,” Wu Yu invited politely.

"Then I am grateful for Mr. Wu Yu's care," Yi Fang replied politely.

Under the cover of night, a man and a woman walked silently side by side on the streets of the capital. The distance they deliberately maintained made it impossible to guess their relationship. Occasionally, people would point and whisper, but the two paid no attention.

"Miss Yifang, are you willing to accept the ending of living alone, leaving everyone behind?" Wu Yu suddenly asked the question he had been pondering all the way, as the huge statue in front of the Dragon Merchant Guild could be faintly seen.

"At least it can't be worse than death, can it?"

When Yi Fang replied, her tone was extremely flat. Wu Yu turned his head away. In the darkness, he could only see a blurry face and had no idea whether Yi Fang was telling the truth.

"Yes, it's so good to be alive!" Wu Yu exclaimed, his eyes brimming with longing for a bright future.

Survive! This is the only decision Wu Yu has never wavered on.

······

"Tap, tap," at the entrance of an alley, Jerry was rummaging through the mountain of garbage.

The capital city has designated garbage collection points, which are cleaned every week. Today is the last day of the garbage collection.

Not long ago, Jerry carelessly threw a valuable item into the trash heap, and today, when he realized he needed it, he could only search for it in the trash heap in a sorry state.

The noble knight is now rummaging through trash like a beggar. If this scene were seen by others and spread, it would give the nobles another funny joke to tell during their leisure time.

Jerry didn't care about the stench around him; he was just focused on searching that corner, a testament to the absolute concentration he had cultivated over the past few months.

The item was there, so finding it was only a matter of time. As the saying goes, perseverance pays off, and Jerry finally found the item he had previously abandoned.

A stone key with an antique design.

After finding the item, Jerry quickly ran to a secluded spot. After confirming that no one was around, Jerry channeled his fighting spirit into the key.

The key remained unchanged, but when Jerry inserted it into his pocket, ripples spread through the air.

This is the power of space. To be able to use the power of space even under the restrictions of multiple formations, Jerry could not even imagine how terrifying the opponent's strength was.

Before Jerry could think any further, an astonishing change had already occurred before his eyes.

A phantom door appeared before Jerry. He tried to touch it, but passed right through the illusion. Realizing it was a power he couldn't comprehend, Jerry could only try to follow the steps someone had told him.

With a gentle twist of his hand, Jerry seemed to hear a click as if a lock was being opened. Pulling it back, the illusory door in front of him actually opened.

All he could see was darkness. Jerry was a little worried, but when he thought of his vow, he resolutely stepped inside.

He was blind for a moment, but when he opened his eyes again, he was in a completely new world.

Jerry clasped his hands together, but couldn't feel anything. Looking down, he saw that his body was translucent. Terrified, Jerry turned around to look for the door that led through, only to find nothing but emptiness behind him.

Just as Jerry was in a panic, a phantom spirit floated in front of him.

The spirit greeted him warmly, “Welcome to the Kingdom of God, Jerry.”

"Who are you? And where is this place?" Jerry asked, suppressing his fear.

“Jerry, have you forgotten what I said so quickly? We belong to the Outer Gods Alliance, and this place does not belong to any corner of the world. What you have come here is merely your consciousness. Because the gods cannot descend to this world, this place is simply an extension of their authority, a communication terminal specially created for us servants to communicate. We call it the ‘Beyond the Realm’,” the spirit explained.

“You’ve told me all this, but I never said I wanted to join you, did I?” Jerry said tentatively.

“No need to join. You need power, and we need your help. We are simply making a deal,” the spirit replied.

"Can you really give me the power I want?" Jerry asked eagerly.

“God is omnipotent,” the spirit said worshipfully.

"So what exactly is this god you're talking about? Is he the same as the gods worshipped by various churches? But even the Pope is no match for the Demon King, so how could He grant me the power to defeat the Demon King?" Jack asked doubtfully.
