Chapter Five: Assassins

A black figure appeared beside the window. He covered the window with his battle aura and, through meticulous control of his power, easily opened it without making a sound.

A gust of wind blew into the room, and the flame in the kerosene lamp began to flicker. The person, shrouded in a black robe, flipped over and entered the room, landing silently. His shadow was cast onto the wall by the candlelight.

He slowly walked up to Wu Yu, who was still sleeping peacefully.

Reaching for his waist, the black-robed man produced a sharp dagger. Without hesitation, he aimed at Wu Yu's throat and stabbed down.

The man in black robes didn't want to alert anyone, so he not only wanted to kill Wu Yu with one blow, but also to leave him no chance to call for help.

[Dodge] Activated.

As a passive skill, it can be activated even when Wu Yu is unconscious.

Just as the dagger was about to strike, Wu Yu exerted force at his waist, turning his entire body to the right, while his neck twisted to the side at an odd angle.

"Crack." A sharp sound came from Wu Yu's neck, and you could tell from the sound that it had been twisted quite badly, but luckily Wu Yu managed to avoid the attack, and the blade of the dagger was completely embedded in the bed board.

Wu Yu was startled awake by the large movement his body made, but his attention was still focused on his sore neck.

By the time he opened his sleepy little eyes and saw his surroundings clearly, the man in black robes had already drawn his dagger and swept it across.

Wu Yu was leaning against the headboard, sitting up, making it almost impossible for him to dodge the attack. Of course, he could dodge it with his skills, but who knew what inhuman actions he would have to take? If he were to do a 360-degree neck rotation and fly into the air, that would be embarrassing.

As a skilled player in the game, Wu Yu made the right choice, relying on his familiarity with the skills and the combat experience that had been forcibly instilled in him by the system.

[Parry]

Description: Active skill; when activated, it can block the opponent's normal attacks and reduce physical damage by 80%.

P.S.: This is a god-tier skill for one-on-one combat, but it's only effective in evenly matched duels. It's meaningless when facing overwhelming opponents. An attack that can kill a bull with one punch can still kill you no matter how you try to deflect the force.

Wu Yu instantly analyzed the opponent's attack path in his mind. He struck first and intercepted the opponent's wrist with his hand. With a push and a pull, he successfully made the opponent's dagger hover in mid-air.

So weak?

This was Wu Yu's inner thought. The other party's strength was ridiculously weak, almost equal to that of an ordinary person like himself. Could someone with this level of strength really be an assassin in another world?

With questions in his mind, Wu Yu did not stop what he was doing. Even if the other party was about the same strength as him, the other party had an extra hand. Why should he be able to hold his own against him?

After surviving the most dangerous moment, Wu Yu pushed hard before the other man could use his other hand, slightly forcing the man in black robes back. Then, he rolled over and fell off the bed.

Ignoring the pain in his body, Wu Yu shouted at the top of his lungs.

"Help! There's an assassin!"

He himself fled to the table and chairs, grabbing the chair in his hand. Since the opponent was not strong, Wu Yu had the confidence to deal with him.

The man in black robes had already crossed the bed, and his dagger was thrust straight at him.

[Parry]

No matter how the opponent's movements changed, Wu Yu could see the dagger's landing point the instant it struck, and he propped up the chair there as if he had foreseen it.

The dagger was indeed sharp, and it was completely embedded in the chair, but that was all.

Wu Yu flung the chair aside, successfully disrupting his opponent's balance, and simultaneously unleashed a powerful low kick, aiming straight for his opponent's lower body.

"snort."

The man in black groaned in pain. Although he wasn't tripped by Wu Yu, he still managed to retreat rapidly while gripping the dagger in his hand.

Wu Yu waved to him provocatively.

But the man in black robes did not take the bait. He glanced at Wu Yu, then ran to the window without hesitation and jumped out.

"Someone this trash is an assassin? He must have a death wish." Wu Yu complained as he massaged his sprained neck and returned to bed.

"Bang." The door was pushed open forcefully, and Jack, wearing only pajamas and barefoot, rushed into Wu Yu's room first.

"Are you alright?" Jack looked around anxiously and asked.

"You're too late. I've already chased the assassin away, but I'm still quite scared. Why don't you stay and sleep with me?" Wu Yu said half-jokingly.

"Bang!" Another loud crash, and Jack slammed the door shut. Jack walked away without saying a word.

Wu Yu stared blankly at the closed door he had just been given, completely unable to figure out what he had said wrong.
