The shopkeeper raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised, and said, "How did you survive, little Jack, after being able to destroy the sword I forged like this and encountering such an opponent?"
"Shhh."
Wu Yu whistled and looked away as if nothing had happened.
“That’s not important.” Jack didn’t intend to expose Wu Yu, the culprit, but instead asked, “Can it be fixed?”
"Of course, don't you know who I am?" the boss said smugly.
"However, given how badly it's damaged, it basically has to be rebuilt. It shouldn't be worse than before, but the two enchantment slots will definitely be erased. Little Jack, you'll have to find an alchemist to enchant your sword again. Since you didn't make any strange requests, I'll take the job. Same as always, ten gold coins."
“That’s pretty much what I was thinking.” Jack nodded. “In that case, could you please upgrade my sword one more time? I’ve already gathered the materials, and I want it to have three enchantment slots.”
"Three?" The boss looked at him like he was kidding.
"Can't it be done?" Jack retorted.
"What a joke. It's just a bit troublesome, but you should think it over. Equipment with three enchantment slots is already the strongest equipment below the level of a divine artifact. Are you sure you can afford this price?" The shopkeeper's eyes were full of disbelief.
“I don’t have any money, but I can owe you a favor,” Jack replied earnestly.
"Hahaha, you, a brat who isn't even a seventh-tier legendary, do you think I, Jess, need your favor?" The boss was amused by Jack, and his muscles trembled with his laughter, giving off a strong sense of pressure.
But Jack didn't back down at all. He said confidently, "With my talent, it's only a matter of time before I become a legend. Maybe then you can let me help you collect the materials to forge a divine artifact, and then try that foolish dream one last time."
"You!" The boss was truly stunned. His laughter stopped abruptly, and he stared at Jack with wide eyes.
Jack met his gaze calmly, and finally the boss sighed as if he had suffered a defeat.
"I've lost to you. You even managed to find out something like this. You're truly a force to be reckoned with. Leave the materials here, and I'll make the sword for you."
"Thank you." Jack nodded gratefully, then magically produced a large pile of colorful stones from his storage ring and stacked them on the table.
"Get lost! Just come back to collect your sword in a month, little Jack. I get annoyed just looking at you. I'm already retired, and you always cause me a bunch of trouble." The boss waved his hand, effectively kicking him out.
"I need another weapon to tide me over," Jack said, somewhat oblivious to the situation.
"Take whatever you like from the wall, it's all one silver coin a piece anyway," the shopkeeper said impatiently, having already sat down on a chair.
The boss was referring to the weapons neatly arranged on the wall—knives, swords, and all sorts of unusual weapons; they had practically everything imaginable.
"Seriously, boss? You're ripping people off! You only sell finished equipment for one silver coin, but you charge ten gold coins for repairing equipment? That's a huge difference!"
Wu Yu, who had been watching from the sidelines, was no longer happy and stood up to complain, saying that the money spent on the sword repair was his.
"Heh." The boss sneered, his expression completely condescending towards a country bumpkin, without even bothering to offer an explanation.
Jack, however, had already taken a rapier from the wall, stored it in his storage ring, and then said...
"Because these are ultimately just ordinary iron, no matter how exquisite the craftsman's skill is, these ordinary weapons that cannot be enchanted will basically shatter at the first touch when faced with powerful battle aura and magic."
Wu Yu understood; it was the difference between inferior and superior products. He didn't say anything more, and casually picked out a relatively light short sword and handed it to Jack. For someone like him with a system, equipment wasn't a big factor.
After Jack and Wu Yu walked out of the blacksmith shop, Wu Yu finally couldn't suppress his doubts and asked, "Who is this guy? He looks so arrogant."
"He was just an ordinary blacksmith who was once admired by thousands, who attempted to forge divine artifacts with the power of a mortal, but had to flee in shame after squandering his fortune."
Jack calmly gave a short evaluation, then led Wu Yu in another direction.
