Chapter Thirty-Four: Demon King's Army Cadres

The clear sky underwent a dramatic change, with dark clouds gathering and churning up and crashing down on the earth, as if the sky were about to collapse.

"boom"

Lightning flashed and thunder roared, creating a scene reminiscent of the impending apocalypse.

An ancient portal emerged from the sky, and from behind it emerged six figures of indistinct faces. Their auras surged, transforming into six towering pillars of light.

Pillars of light stood at the six corners of the capital, their energy connecting them to form a giant six-pointed star array.

"Six epics, it seems I underestimated them."

The emperor, still in his palace, revealed a bitter smile. He had sensed it the moment the city's protective formation shattered. As the ruler of a country, he should have always remained calm, but he still lost his composure when faced with a force capable of overthrowing the nation.

"Your Majesty, the capital is guarded by three Epics and assisted by dozens of Legends. We will certainly protect Your Majesty's safety," the old man beside him reassured him. He was the Grand Tutor of the Ultra Empire, the guardian of the nation. Although he looked old, his strength was unfathomable.

"Haven't they found out yet? What exactly is their conspiracy?" The emperor was utterly helpless.

"Your Majesty, I am incompetent and beg your forgiveness."

"Sigh." The emperor sighed, walked slowly to the door, looked at the dark sky, and murmured, "Could it be that, as those people say, this world will suddenly be destroyed?"

After the city's protective formation shattered, the energy that had turned into mist should have gradually dissipated. However, at this moment, the combined power of the six epic warriors forced this massive energy to continue flowing.

The clouds and mist churned, and the black fog in the sky gradually began to evolve into a large array. Those highly skilled mages might be able to recognize that this array was somewhat similar to the teleportation array outside the capital, except that the patterns on it were much more mysterious and intricate.

"Boom." As the great formation took shape, the space began to ripple. At first, it was just a crack, but then it continued to expand, almost like the opening of an abyss eye.

As the sky was completely torn open, the pillars of light formed by the epic warriors began to dissipate. The six epic warriors took a step back, and the illusory gate opened, swallowing them up.

"What...what exactly happened?" The people of the capital were puzzled. They had all seen the changes in the sky, but no one knew what had happened.

"What's there to be afraid of? His Holiness the Pope is here. What can a bunch of cowardly cowards do to cause trouble?" someone encouraged.

Although this turn of events seemed terrifying, the people weren't worried because they knew this was the capital. For a thousand years, the capital had never experienced a disaster, so they assumed this time would be no exception.

Until a purple dot appeared in the black hole in the sky.

The moment the creature that emerged from the spatial rift appeared, all the Saint-level powerhouses in the capital turned their attention to it.

It has two horns like a yak on its head, a pair of blood-red eyes looking down at the humans below, a deathly smile on its lips, and a pair of fleshy wings that, with a gentle flap, stir up a terrifying gale.

"Demon Lord." With a gasp, Ted, the Dean of the Royal Magic Academy, appeared in mid-air. He gently tapped his staff, quelling the turmoil in the air.

"Such a prosperous city has no protective magic array." The demon lord said in surprise, stating the conclusion he had just reached. "In that case, let's make this place the first stronghold for our race to conquer the human world."

Although both were eighth-tier epics, he didn't take the tiny human below seriously.

As one of the eight executives of the Demon King's army, the ruler of the Abyss region, the chieftain of the demon race, and the demon lord Leviathan, he has absolute confidence in his own strength.

The plan to attack the human world was suddenly halted six months ago, and he was the one who opposed it the most. However, he dared not act rashly because of the Demon King's tyranny. As a thorough martial arts enthusiast, although he did not know why a space tunnel suddenly appeared in his territory, he still decided to take this opportunity to directly launch an attack on the human world.

“A weak insect.” Leviathan glanced at Ted with a mocking look, then raised his right hand.

A terrifying purple energy ball gathered in his hand, compressing and expanding.

"Boom." A laser beam with a radius of more than ten meters shot out from Leviathan's hand, and the air became scorching hot because of it.

Leviathan didn't even need to use his aura to pinpoint Ted's location. Based on his understanding of humans, he knew that since the old man had already stepped forward, he would never expose the ordinary people behind him to danger.

As he expected, all the beams struck Ted's shield, which began to shatter layer by layer. Although the beams were being neutralized, some inevitably ended up hitting Leviathan.

With a loud explosion, Ted's body was blasted to the ground. Although he wasn't seriously injured, he looked utterly disheveled. His once-clean mage robes were now charred black, and his body was mangled in many places.

With just one move, one of the three strongest warriors in the capital was defeated.

The gap between epics is sometimes unimaginable. The demon named Abaddon that Wu Yu encountered before couldn't even defeat a dragon that was about to die of old age. But now, the strongest demon, Leviathan, secured victory with just one move. This is the strength of the Demon King's army officers. They have already reached the limit of the eighth rank.

"It seems those so-called guardians aren't here. In that case, I'll gladly accept this stronghold." Seeing that no new enemies appeared after Ted was defeated, Leviathan knew that the group he feared wasn't here, so he ruled out the possibility that it was a trap.
