Chapter Twenty-Nine: Personality Test

Wu Yu skipped his morning class today and went to the appointment on time.

The location wasn't far, just in a small village outside the city, which was essentially the suburbs of a big city.

A man and a woman, at a pre-arranged time and place, doing something meaningful—is this what they call a date...? Bullshit!

Wu Yu can tell you from his own experience that if you dare to invite a woman to do farm work with you, you're lucky if she doesn't break up with you on the spot, even before the next day.

However, this time it was the woman who made the request. Although Wu Yu was also an only child who never lifted a finger in modern times, men and women should be treated differently in many ways. To be precise, men must be magnanimous.

In fact, Wu Yu had always wanted to be the kind of true gender equality advocate who could punch a woman in the face, and this idea became especially strong after his only breakup.

Of course, Wu Yu wasn't heartbroken because he was the one who was confessed to, and he was the one who initiated the breakup.

Wu Yu has always believed that his greatest strength is his self-awareness. Despite his current miserable situation in another world, he used to be the kind of handsome, rich, and easy-going guy who was secretly admired by many girls.

But that relationship disappointed Wu Yu greatly. Although the woman was very beautiful and had a good personality, Wu Yu could not gain any spiritual pleasure from being with her except for wanting to sleep with her.

To put it more poetically, it's because it lacks love as a harmonizing agent.

To avoid becoming a scumbag, Wu Yu decisively broke up with his rival, and the final result was as Wu Yu expected: he felt no reluctance or sadness.

Later, Wu Yu became completely immersed in the world of games. Dating wasn't out of the question, but he would wait until he met someone he fell in love with at first sight. Given his family's financial situation, there was absolutely no need for him to settle for someone else.

As a result, Wu Yu did not meet a second romantic partner until he time-traveled.

But this time, Wu Yu unexpectedly encountered someone who piqued his interest.

Everyone's inner world is complex and ever-changing, but it's not incomprehensible when it comes to their actions. Good and evil, greed and indifference—all kinds of people exist, but oddballs like Virginia are far too rare.

Her thoughts, her behavior patterns, everything about her was so strange and unfamiliar to Wu Yu. Wu Yu was eager to understand her, and the last person to give Wu Yu this novel feeling was Jack. Unfortunately, Jack did not give Wu Yu enough time to understand him.

This time, Wu Yu will absolutely not let go of such a golden opportunity.

On those nights when he played games all night, Wu Yu would sometimes ponder what kind of person he wanted to become.

Wu Yu couldn't figure out the answer, but he came up with a way to find it: explore the minds of other people in the world so that he could understand himself better.

Jack's sense of justice inspired him, and although Wu Yu didn't want to become a partner of justice, it at least pointed him in the right direction.

Once he sees Virginia clearly, he may be one step closer to his true self.

Wu Yu could accept living a mediocre, uneventful life.

But this time, he finally had another chance to understand himself, and perhaps he could use this opportunity to gain a faith that transcends his own life.

So this time, Wu Yu decided to take a small risk.

Looking at the golden wheat field, Wu Yu was filled with regret. He could help with picking fruit, but when it came to harvesting wheat, he was truly powerless to do so. All he could do was transport the wheat that Virginia had harvested and bundled to the open space next to him.

Most of the time, Virginia was the one doing the work, while Wu Yu stood idly by. However, the most idle person was not Wu Yu, but the farmer who had asked them to help.

After giving instructions, the farmer moved a rocking chair, sat down, looked at the wheat field, and felt the joy of the harvest.

Wu Yu had just carried a bundle of wheat to the side when the next bundle of Virginia wheat hadn't been harvested yet. Taking advantage of this gap, Wu Yu went to the farmer's side.

"This year's harvest seems to be quite good," Wu Yu casually remarked as an opening remark.

"These past few years have been pretty good." Looking at the bundled wheat, the farmer beamed with joy.

"Thanks to Virginia, in recent years, when there is a drought, Virginia can ask a magician to water the plants, and when there is an insect plague, she can use holy light to kill the insects. Without natural disasters and man-made calamities, the harvest has naturally improved."

"There's only one area left. We'll leave immediately after Virginia finishes harvesting," Wu Yu explained their upcoming itinerary.

"Have a safe journey," the farmer replied, and then said nothing more.

"Speaking of which, shouldn't you invite us to stay for a meal or give us something as a thank you?" Wu Yu asked, squinting his eyes.

"Why?" the farmer asked in surprise, as if he had heard something unbelievable, his face filled with astonishment. Then he complained with great dissatisfaction.

“Young man, don’t always think about taking advantage of others. Didn’t you come with Virginia? Learn from her. Virginia never takes anything in return for helping us. If you don’t want to do it, don’t come next time. Virginia can handle it all by herself.”

"Heh." Wu Yu let out a cold laugh. Looking at the farmer's self-righteous appearance, Wu Yu understood that when people get used to the favors of others, they may even think that taking things for granted is a matter of course.
