Chapter Twenty: Ship Tickets

Lawson stretched out his hand, and the marble made a turn in the air, gently floating into his hand. Lawson clenched his fist, and when he opened it again, the marble was gone.

Lawson said slowly, "Miss Violet, even you only have two tickets. You should choose someone who can spend the rest of your life with you. Is it really okay to so hastily choose someone who has betrayed you? You should know that once you board the ship, there is no such thing as a refund."

"Just do as I say," Violet commanded without room for refusal.

“Alright, I’ll put the Soul Card on the ship when we get back. There’s no concept of time in it, so I don’t need to waste precious containers to preserve his soul.” Knowing that persuasion was ineffective, Lawson stopped insisting and put the Soul Card away.

“Help me unlock these chains,” Violet continued to demand.

"Yes, ma'am."

Lawson lightly traced four lines with his fingertips, and four spatial rifts vanished in an instant. All the shackles on Violet's wrists developed a smooth notch and fell to the ground.

After being freed from her restraints, Violet stretched her wrists and went to Jack's corpse, instructing, "You will take Jack's body back to Black Cloud Mountain later. You saw what happened during my battle, so treat this body as if we had died together."

"Do you intend to continue with your plan?" Lawson asked.

“I can’t answer Wu Yu’s questions, so I have to discard the identity of Jack, because the dead won’t tell him the answers. I originally planned to have you send the real Jack abroad, but now that he’s dead, the plan hasn’t been affected, so just continue,” Violet replied calmly.

"Alright, the battle outside has begun, but it should end soon. Please return to your room as soon as possible."

"Did Wu Yu choose to make a move?" Violet murmured softly. "Using power to deal with someone who poses no threat to oneself, then we can rule out another possibility: Wu Yu is not a puppet created by the gods."

"That kid is risking his life for you. If he finds out it was all your doing, he might hate you," Lawson said with some concern.

“He will never know the truth,” Violet emphasized.

"Really?" Lawson said, somewhat skeptical.

"When you have a human body, you will also inherit all the flaws of humanity: a weak body, insatiable desires, and emotions that cloud judgment. Only by giving true feelings can you receive true feelings in return. Violet, you have always been sentimental since childhood. After becoming human, even your proud self-control is not enough. I hope you will not make the wrong choice then."

“You’re overthinking it,” Violet said calmly. “There are only three possibilities left regarding Wu Yu’s identity. Once confirmed, I will personally deal with him. The process will be very short. Even if I do develop feelings for him in the end, I can choose to leave the ticket to him. Don’t worry, my stance will never change.”

“That’s excellent.” Lawson nodded in satisfaction. “Then treat this trip as a long-awaited vacation. You are both strangers to each other, so you can be your most authentic self when you’re with him. No man could possibly refuse you like that.”

Lawson walked over and picked up the corpse from the ground. With a light tap of his fingertip, a portal appeared in front of him. However, before entering, Lawson spoke again, "One last question, whatever your identity, that man seems difficult to deal with. How do you plan to deal with him?"

"You'll see for yourself. Now I'm going to place the first shackle on him—responsibility."

"Then I look forward to your performance." Lawson didn't ask any more questions and carried Jack's corpse into the portal.

When Violet was the only one left in the dungeon, she began to withdraw her magic, the surrounding ice began to melt, and her eyes returned to their former azure blue.

She put her hand on her collar and began to unbutton her clothes, but after only unbuttoning one, she glared at the air beside her and snapped, "Don't peek at me changing clothes, you lecherous gentleman!"

No one responded to her, but Violet seemed to have confirmed Benson's departure on her own, and she continued changing her clothes in the dark dungeon.
