"No comment," Wu Yu said curtly, then walked past Mapel and headed towards the palace.
At this point, you must act assertively. If you show even the slightest sign of weakness, the other party may cling to you relentlessly.
Maper didn't try to stop him in the end. She angrily shouted behind Wu Yu, "Wu Yu, I really misjudged you!"
Wu Yu turned a deaf ear to this; to him, Maper's feelings were not worth his attention.
Although he was delayed on the way, he eventually arrived at the palace without any obstacles.
At this point, his privileges as a sword saint became apparent. He only needed to take out the token given to him by the royal family, which was engraved with a small sword, and no one would stop him from passing through.
Phillis's political enemies must already be watching him; news of his meeting with Phillis at the palace today will surely reach their ears.
This might make them wary, but it doesn't matter. If Phillis doesn't agree to help him refute the rumors today, Wu Yu plans to leave the capital alone. If he can't afford to offend him, he can at least avoid him.
Led by a male attendant, Wu Yu quickly arrived at Phillis's bedroom.
Along the way, Wu Yu felt that the palace seemed a bit deserted. Perhaps there were some powerful figures he couldn't sense, but Wu Yu felt that it was more likely that the disaster had caused a shortage of manpower in the palace.
"Enter."
With Philliss's permission, the attendant led Wu Yu inside.
Contrary to Wu Yu's expectations, Philliss, dressed in elaborate court attire, was leaning back in his chair with a contented expression, reading a book. Wu Yu keenly noticed that it was titled "The Heroic Dragon Slayer Chronicle".
Upon seeing that it was Wu Yu who had arrived, Phillis quickly hid the novel under the official documents and pretended to be correcting them.
This acting was so bad, but Wu Yu still pretended not to see it and deliberately slowed down, waiting for Phillis to finish tidying up before walking up to her.
"Greetings, Your Majesty the Emperor," Wu Yu said casually. Thanks to his privilege as a Sword Saint, he didn't have to kneel to pay his respects when meeting the Emperor; otherwise, with his stiff knees, he would have found it quite uncomfortable.
Phillis gave the servant who had come with him a look, and the servant withdrew on his own, closing the door behind him.
"Wu Yu, you're acting so distant. Are you even distancing yourself from me?" Phillis said with a hint of resentment.
"It's just basic etiquette," Wu Yu replied calmly. "To inspire awe in everyone is the first step to being a good gentleman."
"Only you would think that way, right? They only see me as a pretty face." Phillis was very angry, recalling her experiences this month. Then, as if remembering something, she said somewhat reservedly, "Do you like the title of Sword Saint that I bestowed upon you?"
"Why did you do this?" This was also what Wu Yu couldn't understand. If he wanted to expose his past, there was no need to wait until now.
"Because Duke Oliver has been trying to cripple me this month, and he knows you are my friend, I was afraid you would be implicated, so I had no choice but to resort to this tactic."
"The world only knows you as the Dragon Slayer, and that's powerful enough. But for Duke Oliver, it will only further fuel his desire to eliminate you as a threat. At this point, you must demonstrate even greater power to deter him from making any rash moves. I'm sorry for causing you trouble," Phillis apologized, seemingly sensing Wu Yu's displeasure.
"Wu Yu, although you are very powerful, you shouldn't use that power casually."
"It is indeed quite troublesome." Wu Yu didn't try to hide this fact; those who had known him for a long time should have noticed his unusual behavior. Wu Yu asked proactively.
"But you don't need to worry about me. Let me ask you, are you willing to be just a pretty face, or do you have other plans?"
Although Wu Yu couldn't help Philliss set things right, they could still be considered friends. As one of his few friends, Wu Yu was actually quite willing to help Philliss in any way he could.
"You're willing to help me?" Phillis's eyes lit up as he asked expectantly.
"Tell me your thoughts first." Before hearing her specific request, Wu Yu didn't dare to make any promises to her.
“If possible, I would like to borrow your military force,” Phillis said.
"No." Wu Yu shook his head.
"Because of the previous disasters, many officials have perished, creating a power vacuum in the empire. As the final victor, Duke Oliver sent his men to fill those positions, and now he controls the entire empire. The number of people I can mobilize is very limited."
“It’s impossible to find a way to counter him within the Empire, so at this point, we can only seek help from the outside world,” Phillis said clearly.
"Who should I look for?" Wu Yu was completely ignorant of world affairs.
"The Versailles Empire is a nation at the pinnacle of humanity, on par with the Ultra Empire. With its help, I am certain I can eliminate the treacherous minister," Phillis said confidently.
"So what are you prepared to give up? You know, there's no room for sentiment between nations." Wu Yu didn't understand politics, but he did grasp some basic concepts.
“Myself,” Philliss answered without hesitation.
Wu Yu waited quietly for the next part to be told.
“A prince of the Versailles Empire was my father’s fiancé. Now that I have inherited the throne, I could have canceled the marriage, but I do not intend to do so. I only need to go to the Versailles Empire to marry that prince, and I will be able to rely on the power of the Versailles Empire,” Phillis explained calmly, as if he were not the one who was sacrificed.
